Dragonkin (15 page)

“No. This can’t be happening,” he groaned. The pain in his voice from him trying to control his need was unbearable. She licked him slowly and then released him while rubbing her hand over his balls.

“But I want to show my affection to the new dragon king. Unless my lord isn’t pleased with me.”

She flicked her tongue over the tip of his cock and watched him quiver. His fingertips trailed over her cheeks. “If you wish, you can order me away anytime he wishes.”

“Kes, I should be the one worshipping you. I can’t express the joy and other feelings running through me. I can’t figure if this is a dream or if you’re real. Maybe you’re a hallucination.”

She stood up slowly, hearing the agony in his voice. Staring deep into his eyes, she placed his hand above her heart. She put her hand over his. Through their bond, she sent all of her love to him. From her palm a fire erupted, and she pushed it inward, letting him feel that she was alive. She wrapped her mind around his, wanting to join them as close as possible so he would trust what was before him.

“I’m real, my love. And I need you to make love to me so I know I’m real and that this isn’t all a dream. I need to feel your hands on me. Your cock buried inside of me.” Kestrel kissed him lightly on the lips and down his throat, nipping at it while she went along. She tugged on his earlobe and ran her fingers over his back. “Please say yes.”

Andrik swept her up in his arms and carried her to his bed. He set her gently down and removed his remaining clothes and the torque around his neck. He lowered his face to her breasts and kissed each one delicately before taking a nipple into his mouth and teasing it into hardness. A free hand slipped between her legs, parting her already wet slit until he found her clit. Kestrel groaned when he began to rub her in slow circles, awakening her buried pleasure. All she yearned for was him and to be in his arms. He left her breasts and kissed along her belly. She ran her fingers over the muscles in his back and wound through his silky locks.

His mouth enveloped her clit while he began to nibble on the sensitive bud. He spread her legs wider and ran his fingers along the inside of her thighs, tickling her and torturing her at the same time. An orgasm swept her away. She felt herself shifting. Her teeth grew sharper, and her fingernails grew. She cried out, and Andrik stopped his assault. He kissed her lips.

“Relax, Kes. Let it flow through you.”

She opened her eyes and stared into his concerned ones. Without thinking, she wrapped her legs around him. His hard shaft rested on the outside of her pussy, waiting for entrance. He fondled her breast. “I’m not afraid anymore. You don’t have to be either. I just have to learn control. That will come with time. We have plenty of that now.”

She slid his cock inside of her and began to ride him. Andrik held her hips and slowed her down. He kissed her neck and breathed across her ear, sending shivers down her back. “I never thought we’d have this again. I never dreamed the gods would resurrect you and return you to me. My love. My mate.”

He thrust inside of her. She cried out, getting lost in the bliss blossoming between them. Their link was open. He finally trusted it was her. She kissed him hungrily. The fire grew from her back and encompassed the both of them as her wings took shape. Andrik gasped and reached his hand to touch one of them. Kestrel moaned when he caressed the fringes of her wings.

“Does that hurt?”

“No.”

He ran his hand along the edge again. Kestrel could hardly believe the pleasure that rode her spine. She cried out and began to ride him harder. Squeezing her eyes shut, Andrik wrapped her in his arms and focused on pleasuring her. Each time he thrust inside of her, he hit her clit, and before long she was going to come. This was the heaven that she truly wanted. Being in his arms. Being home.

“Now.” Kestrel felt her wings enfold them completely. He cried out when they touched his flesh. A rush of pleasure overtook her, and she went with it. Andrik came at the same time. The ecstasy washed over them both and took them away. Her mate moaned. He buried his head into her neck. She was out of breath, but didn’t want to be parted from him. Together, in this moment, everything was right in the world.

They stayed joined until the heat of her wings unwound from them. They disappeared. Andrik gave her a smile and then lay beside her on the bed. She snuggled up to his arm. When she did, she noticed his skin was smooth again. The burn had completely healed.

“Your burn is gone.”

“It’s a miracle. You’re my miracle.” He kissed her once more and held her close to him.

“I won’t ever leave you again. You know that.”

He nodded. “I do.”

She poked him. “Good. Because if you ever doubt it’s me again, I’m going to torture you for days.”

“I think I can handle that.” He began to kiss the side of her neck again. Kestrel relaxed and waited for him to bite her.

“Forgive the intrusion, my prince, but have you forgotten the coronation?”

Andrik sighed. “Ralag, you do pick the most inopportune times.”

Kestrel peeked over his shoulder and held the sheet to her. Ralag glanced at them and smiled.

“My prince, I can’t help that the coronation has interrupted your reunion, but we must do this now.”

“Wait. You knew she had come back?”

Ralag nodded. Kestrel sat up. “I went into the crypt and found she was gone. I had a feeling. The place seemed a little brighter. Now if both of Your Highnesses will come with me, we have to get you prepared.” He turned and waited for them to dress.

Kestrel and Andrik followed him out of the room. He separated them and led her into a room where she was surrounded by three women. One of them was Shala. The others could barely look at her. They bathed her. They dressed her in long purple gown threaded with silver that had small bells sewn into the folds. The neckline plunged over her breasts and left little to the imagination. It fell to her feet and tinkled when she walked. They braided her hair and let it fall down her back. They adjusted the gold torque and settled a gold circlet on top of her head. Her feet were bound in soft sandals that had laces that wound along her calves. They applied color to her eyes and her cheeks. When they were finished, they presented her with a mirror so she could see their handiwork. She gasped. She looked like a princess.

“Are you happy, my lady?” Shala asked.

“Yes. Thank you. I see you have settled in.”

“Yes. Ralag has been very kind. I have found my mother, and we are spending time together. Thank you for everything that you’ve done. It is good to see you well again.”

“Are you ready, my lady?” Ralag had returned dressed in ceremonial robes. She got up and nodded.

Andrik waited for her outside. He wore a black-and-purple robe with dragons sewn into the sides. He had his sword by his side, a jewel-encrusted crown on his head, and he took her breath away. They walked the halls with all the guards bowing before them. They got to the formal doors of the throne room. Andrik stopped. He took Kestrel’s hands in his.

“You are beautiful, my love.” He got to one knee and slipped a golden ring onto her finger. “Will you do the honor of being my wife?”

Her love for him rose up and stole the words from her mouth. Tears slipped down her cheeks.

She drew in a deep breath and tried to calm her nerves. “What about your coronation? I don’t want to ruin it.”

“It won’t be ruined. Only enhanced it. I don’t want us to ever be parted. We are mates in dragon sense, but I have lived much of my life as a human, and I want you for a wife. Please do me the honor.”

“Yes. Of course.” He stood up slowly and took her in his arms and kissed her.

“You’ve made me the happiest man and dragon alive. I love you.”

“I love you, too.” She returned the kiss and then stared at the ring. Kestrel never thought any of this was possible, but it had come to pass. She had gone from hero to outcast, from hatchling thief to spellcaster again. Now she was going to be a wife and a queen.

He wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Are you ready for this?”

She nodded.

Andrik signaled for the guards to open the door. A blaze of light ahead of them blinded her. She could make out the figures of humans and dragons. They walked forward. She glanced at her mate, and he smiled. In his eyes, she saw his contentment and knew all was right in the world. Whatever obstacles were to come, they would deal with them together as man and wife, as mates. She was drakin, the mother of a new generation, and dragon protector. Whatever that entailed, she would conquer it. If she needed help, Andrik would be at her side.
