Deanna had told her that she needed to pick out the flowers and colors but everything else would be taken care of for the reception. She had gladly let the woman make the call and have the flowers specially brought in. She knew that this was the only wedding that the woman would be able to plan and it made her happy to do it.

She had decided on red and white as the colors. Her flowers consisted of red roses and white calla lilies. Craig not wanting to wait had told her that they had to get married that year, so they planned a September wedding. That gave his mother only two and a half months to prepare. She had excused herself to get on the phone the minute after they had told her, telling them there was so much to do.

They ended up having a huge wedding party, not wanting to leave anyone out with the many cousins they both had. She had also asked her sister-in-law to be her matron of honor and Craig had asked a friend from Austin who flew in for the wedding to be his best man. They were both amazed when they found out that there would be well over 300 people attending the wedding. His mother had invited everyone from both families and many of her and her husband’s friends and associates from back home as well as some colleagues of Keeara’s from Virginia and Craig’s from Austin.

Everyone in town wanted to be there. It was headline news. The Murray and Jenkins families not only threw the feud out the window but tied the knot. Everyone had laughed at the paper when they had read what the two of them had written about their union.

Keeara looked straight forward into the dark blue eyes of the man she loved and couldn’t see living without as she slowly walked side by side with her father down the aisle. When she stood beside him and recited her vows, she watched the sparkle hit the blue depths as he grinned at her.

Craig led his new wife over to the dance floor and gathered her into his arms. “Well, Mrs. Craig Jenkins, how are you feeling?”

“Hmmmm. I would feel better if you told me where we are going.”

“I told you it's a surprise.”

“Yeah but one I needed a passport for.”

“Fine. Come on.” He led her to the table where their plates were and handed her an envelope. She opened it to see two plane tickets. Along the top were the words Paris, France.

“Paris? You are taking me to Paris?”

He smiled at her astonishment. He had found out from her mother that she had always talked about going up on the Eiffel Tower as a child. He wanted to be the one to make that dream come true for her. He gestured for Lewis to come to the table. The excited boy jumped up to the table.

“Yes, Dad? I’m kinda beating Jose’s butt in marbles and this is cramping my game.”

“I have a present for you too. You see, you will be staying with your grandparents for two weeks while me and your mom are away then we are all three going to go on a trip.”

“Really? Where?” He handed the boy an envelope and smiled as the boy screamed when he saw the big figure on the top. “I’m going to Disney World!” he danced around the tables yelling. “Oh yeah. I’m going to see Mickey. That’s right. I have the best dad in the whole wide world.” He ran back to Craig and threw his arms around his neck. “Thanks, Dad. You’re more than I could ever have hoped for.” He hugged the little boy back as his heart melted a little more.

It was strange to see everyone so happy with each other. They had found not only letters in the trunk from the cave but journals of Steven Murray and others that told the stories from so long ago and what really happened. The museum now had numerous other artifacts, even a Cherokee smoking pipe from the 1800s. It was amazing that the stuff preserved as well as it did but the historian had told them it was due to the type of materials that they had used to make it. He said that most of the pipe had originally been made with bones from animals like buffalo that used to roam along the land. Either way, for the first time in the history of Maryville, Tennessee, two families were joined as one and they lived amongst each other without fighting.

Keeara pulled Craig’s hand and pointed out towards the edge of the trees. There standing alone was the black wolf. They stood and watched as a bigger brown wolf walked up beside her. Keeara felt the impact of their eyes as they stared at the two of them. Then they both let out a huge howl together. Before they could say a word, both wolves turned and faded into the woods. She turned and looked up at Craig. “I guess they approve.”

“I guess they do. I’m glad too. ‘Cause I am never letting you go.”

“Good,‘cause I like the feel of your arms around me.”

“Really, is that all?”

“Hmmmm.” His lips dropped to her own.

“Ewwwwww! Yuck! Man grownups are just plain nasty.” Everyone burst out laughing as Lewis stood there with his hands on his hips.

Jack Murray kissed his granddaughter on the cheek. Quietly among all the chatter and excitement, he made his way to his room. He lay down on the bed and looked to the ceiling. “Okay, my love. I’m ready to come home now. All is well and I can rest.” He closed his eyes and fell asleep. He said the same prayer every night to his wife until two weeks later, he fell asleep with his last breath coming from his lips. He had accomplished everything he needed to and was ready to be with his life and love again. Slowly fading into sleep, he once again held Beth Ann to him and kissed her as he held her tight. He passed with a smile on his lips that night and although he was mourned, those that he left behind knew that he was where he wanted to be finally.
