Warm Pomegranate Spiced Wine

 

You are sure to create rituals to your guests as soon as they step in the door with a warm pomegranate spiced wine. The recipe is a combination of red wine, pomegranate juice, spices, and apple brandy. Brewing it slowly in the slow cooker and allowing it to stew for about an hour results in an enchanting drink.

 

 

Ingredients:

 

  1. Fresh ginger, sliced – ½ inch piece
  2. Whole cloves – 5
  3. Whole cardamom pods – 5
  4. Pomegranate juice – 1 cup
  5. Red wine – 1 cup
  6. Apple brandy – ¼ cup
  7. Sugar – ¼ cup

 

Directions:

 

  1. In a reusable bag, add the cloves, sliced ginger, and cardamom pods. Close the bag.
  2. Place the reusable bag in the slow cooker and cook it on low setting until hot. If you intend to cook at a faster rate, set the slow cooker setting to high and cook for an hour.
  3. Serve hot and add orange or lemon peel to garnish.

Wassail

 

Wassail is a classic Christmas song and a spicy cider drink. The warm fruity drink will warm you up from the inside. The easy to cook recipe uses apple cider, orange juice, hibiscus tea, cloves, ginger, orange, cinnamon sticks, and juniper berries. The slow cooking method ensures that the result is a refreshing and delicious drink. It is an excellent addition to the winter seasons refreshment list for the family.

 

 

Ingredients:

 

  1. Apple cider – 1 cup
  2. Orange juice – ¼ cup
  3. Hibiscus tea bags – 1
  4. Cinnamon sticks – 1
  5. Whole cloves – 1 teaspoon
  6. Juniper berries – 1 teaspoon
  7. Fresh ginger, sliced – ½ inch piece
  8. Apple, sliced into rounds – 1
  9. Orange, sliced into rounds – 1

 

Directions:

 

  1. Transfer the apple cider into the slow cooker and add the rest of the ingredients. Use a wire whisk to mix the contents well.
  2. Cover the slow cooker with a glass lid and set it on the low setting.
  3. Allow the slow cooker to run for around 3-4 hours.
  4. Check the color of the ingredient. Make sure it is dark, and the fruit is soft. If dark, turn off the cooker and empty the ingredients.
  5. Take out the tea bags from the mixture and serve hot.

  1. Corn Chex cereal – 3 cups
  2. Rice Chex cereal – 3 cups
  3. Wheat Chex cereal – 3 cups
  4. Cheerios cereal – 3 cups
  5. Pretzel sticks – 3 cups
  6. Mixed nuts – 1 can
  7. Melted butter – 1 can
  8. Worcestershire sauce – 2 tablespoons
  9. Seasoned salt – 1 ½ teaspoons

    Garlic powder – ¾ teaspoon

 

Directions:

 

  1. Mix corn, rice, and wheat Chex cereal along with pretzel sticks and mixed nuts in a large slow cooker.
  2. Use a wire whisk along with the butter to mix the ingredients. After an initial whisking, add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and seasoned salt. Whisk again to combine all the ingredients.
  3. Set the slow cooker to its high setting and cook for 90 minutes without a lid. Stir occasionally.
  4. Set the slow cooker to the minimum setting and cook an additional time of 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  5. Spread the recipe on a sheet to cool.

Herbed Slow Cooker Dinner Rolls

 

Well, it is possible to make any bread using the slow cooker. You can free up the load on the oven and use it for baking cookies. Begin by adding fresh herbs of your choice with bread dough. Use the parchment paper and spread it in the slow cooker housing. Sprinkle some cornmeal on the paper and brush oil or butter. Turn the kneaded dough into balls and place in the slow cooker. Allow it to cook.

 

 

Ingredients:

 

  1. Instant yeast – 1 ½ tablespoons
  2. Salt – 1 ¼ tablespoons
  3. All-purpose flour – 28 ounces
  4. Whole wheat flour – 3 ounces
  5. Dried basil – 1 teaspoon
  6. Dried oregano – 1 teaspoon
  7. Dried thyme – ½ teaspoon
  8. Dried rosemary, chopped or crushed – 1 tablespoon
  9. Dried sage – ½ teaspoon

    Olive oil

    Garlic salt

 

Directions:

 

  1. Mix yeast, salt, basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, water, and sage.
  2. Add all-purpose flour and wheat flour and mix well. Mix until the dough is in moistened state. Vary the water content according to the softness of the dough.
  3. Keep aside the dough and leave it aside for about two hours. Cover the bowl loosely.
  4. In the slow cooker, place the parchment paper, sprinkle cornmeal and brush butter or oil.
  5. Pull of 3 oz. of dough and roll into small balls. The size of the ball varies and purely a user’s choice. However, making medium-sized balls is preferable.
  6. Place the balls in the slow cooker and cover it with the glass lid. Turn on the cooker, set it to its high setting, and cook for an hour.
  7. Check on the rolls after an hour. The surface remains soft and yet gives an uncooked feeling.
  8. Remove the balls along with the parchment paper. Brush olive oil on the balls and sprinkle garlic salt.
  9. Place in the slow cooker and turn the setting to high. Let it prepare for about an hour or until the top of the balls turn brown.

    Remove the balls from the parchment paper and serve hot.

Sweet and spicy mushrooms

 

The recipe is simple and requires less effort in the preparation. Mix water, crushed red pepper, water, garlic, hoisin sauce, and mushrooms. Mix well and add the ingredients to the slow cooker. Cook it on high setting for about three hours and allow it to simmer for eight hours on the low setting.

  1. Hoisin sauce – ½ cup
  2. Water – ¼ cup
  3. Minced garlic – 2 tablespoons
  4. Crushed red pepper
  5. Fresh mushrooms cleaned – 24 ounces

Directions:

 

  1. In the slow cooker, mix hoisin sauce, minced garlic, water, and crushed red pepper.
  2. Add mushrooms to the mixture and stir well. Ensure that the mixture coats the mushrooms.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and set in the low setting. Cook for six hours.
  4. For high setting, cook the recipe for three hours.
  5. Turn off and simmer for ten minutes.
  6. Serve hot with toothpicks.

Slow Cooker Cajun Boiled Peanuts

 

Appetizers are a favorite addition to the pre-dinner list. Furthermore, nuts take a particular place in appetizers. Let the family members quench their hunger with the spicy garlic peanuts. The appetizer is a “dump and forget” recipe. Add peanuts, water, and seasoning to the slow cooker. Peanuts taste better when cooked for a long time. Allow them to simmer for a minimum of twelve hours.

 

 

Ingredients:

 

  1. Raw peanuts in the shell – 1 pound
  2. Garlic powder – 1 tablespoon
  3. Salt – ½ cup
  4. Cajun seasoning – 2 tablespoons
  5. Red pepper flakes – 2 tablespoons
  6. Water – 8 cups

 

Directions:

 

  1. Add the peanuts with their shells in the slow cooker. Add water.
  2. Add garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, salt and red pepper flakes. Stir the ingredients well.
  3. Place the glass lid on the slow cooker and set it to the low setting. Allow it to cook for a minimum of twelve hours and a maximum of 24 hours. The maximum cooking time increases the strength of the flavor and returns delicious peanuts.
  4. Scoop the peanuts in the end and serve in a bowl.
