Chapter Four

D
uring the flight back
to New Jersey, Alex spent much of the time on his cell phone. As far as I could
make out, he was talking to his lawyer. I offered him privacy, settling into
one of the seats at the rear of the plane. Eventually, I drifted off into a
fidgety, uncomfortable doze.

“Mel,” his gentle voice nudged, as a warm hand touched my
cheek.

I jolted awake, startled to find him leaning over me.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah,” I groggily responded, nodding. “I…I’m sorry, I...”
shuffling forward in the seat, I began to rise to my feet. “Did you want
something?”

“No,” he quickly replied. “No, it’s just that we’re here.”

“Huh?” I mumbled, turning to the small window and realizing
we were on solid ground.

“Err, listen,” he nervously began. “I wondered if it was
time we talked. I don’t want to seem like I’m pressuring you, but I also can’t
stand this awkwardness between us.”

“You’re right,” I nodded, smoothing the creases from my
skirt. “I’m sorry, it’s my fault-”

“Well,” he interjected, “I’ve been distracted, too.” Giving
me one of his sweetest smiles, he shrugged. “I realized something earlier,” he
sighed. “This has become so complex, and the truth is, it doesn’t need to be. At
least, we don’t need let all that other...crap,” he chuckled, with a sweeping
slice of his hand, “affect us.”

I couldn’t help smiling right back at him. He painted a
tempting picture, but reality would never match it. “It is going to affect us,
though,” I mumbled.

“Come back to my place,” he quickly suggested.

“Alex,” I groaned, shaking my head. “I don’t think-”

“Let’s not think,” he urged, snatching his hand forward and
grasping mine. “We’ve done enough of that for a few days.”

A small part of me wanted to argue with him, to tell him
that we would just be making things even more chaotic than they already were.
But a much larger part just wanted to follow his lead: forget everything and
everyone. Before I even registered what was happening, Alex was leading me from
the plane and walking me to his car.

It took over an hour and a half to drive into New York,
during which time we shared heating glances but very few words. I suspect we
were both frightened of breaking the spell.

Alex took my hand once more as he encouraged me to climb out
of the passenger seat of his black Porsche 911 and follow him to the elevator
in his building’s underground parking lot.

The heavy doors clunking closed, Alex lunged forward. He
pushed me against the wall and kissed me with ferocity.

He caught me off guard, but I wasn’t complaining. The
tension between us erupted and, as our tongues tangled and groped, we both
began pawing at the other’s clothes. Within seconds, my skirt was up to my
waist and my underwear was falling down my calves.

Refusing to remove my mouth from his, I uncoordinatedly
stepped out of the panties. I’d managed to get Alex’s flies undone and in a
panting flurry, I pulled him toward me. One of my legs immediately lifted and I
wrapped it around his waist. His hand supported the back of my knee as he
jerked his hips forward, entering me in a desperate, sensual thrust.

“Hmm,” I mumbled against his lips, squirming. He was right;
we had been making things much more complicated than they needed to be. The
only thing I wanted was him. “Alex,” I squealed, as he began to drive into me
with a pounding, frenzied rhythm.

The growling in his chest reverberated deliciously through
me, as his face took on a pained expression of concentration.

“I want to be with you,” I breathlessly blurted, the words
distorted by the air pushed from my lungs each time he slammed his muscular
body against mine.

“Ugh,” he grunted. “Ugh, ugh!”

“I love you, Alex,” I screamed as his large member continued
to stoke my desire ever higher. My orgasm came unexpectedly, causing both legs
to shake violently and my breath to come in shallow, strangled pants.

“Yes!” he hissed, as he held himself within me and savored
the rolling waves of pleasure that crashed over him.

It had begun quickly, it was over quickly and, all too
quickly, Alex was disengaging from me.

“Sorry,” he whispered, kissing me gently as he smoothed my
skirt back down my thighs before tucking himself back into his pants.
“I...umm...just couldn’t wait any longer.” As the elevator car reached his
floor and the doors dinged open, he rapidly bent at the knees and scooped up my
discarded panties before slipping them into his jacket pocket. “Come on,” he
urged, holding the door for me.

On wobbly legs, I tried to make my way gracefully out of the
elevator. “There’s no need to apologize,” I told him, slipping one arm through
his in the hope that, if my legs gave out, he’d be able to catch me. “I needed
you, too.”

He smiled, as he walked me down the corridor, passing two
doors before we reached his. “Still wish I hadn’t been in such a rush,” he
muttered, mostly to himself.

His semen chilled on my inner thighs as they brushed
together; it made me feel dirty, but rather than being distressed by it, I
realized it turned me on. It was an irresistibly naughty sensation; libidinous
and risqué. It was the sensual reminder that Alex and I shared a sexy secret.
God, it made me want him again right then and there in the hallway.

Unaware of my thoughts or the feeling on my thighs, Alex
stopped at his front door and unlocked it. “This is it,” he said, extending his
hand as he pushed the door wide.

“Thanks,” I gratefully smiled, following his gesture and
entering the apartment. I didn’t really look around. Instead, I immediately
spun to watch him walk across the threshold, and as he kicked the door closed,
I pounced on him as he had done to me. Pushing him flat against the door, I
tangled my hands in his hair and attacked his mouth.

However, as I ground my hips against him, I felt a strange
vibrating. My eyes opened wide and I slowly tipped my head back. “This a little
trick you haven’t shown me yet?” I asked, grinning.

Chuckling, he slipped a hand into his pocket and retrieved
his cell phone. “Afraid not,” he murmured, smiling in return. “I’m really
sorry, but I’ve got to take this,” he added, pressing his thumb to the screen
before taking the phone to his ear.

While he talked, my face was drawn to his neck, my lips
playing with his throat as it vibrated with each syllable he uttered.

“Are you sure?” he muttered. “Okay, thanks,” he added.
“Bye.”

Sensing the tension in him, I tore myself away from his skin
long enough to focus on his shocked, pensive features. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” he replied, his face unmoving. “Nothing’s wrong.”

“Alex?” I nudged, realizing he was staring into the middle
distance.

“Everything’s going to be okay,” he said, a smile creeping
back onto his lips. “Everything’s going to be okay, Mel.”

“What do you mean?”

“Katherine was having an affair,” he said, grinning from ear
to ear.

The statement and his expression were entirely incongruous,
but it warmed my heart.

“She’d been seeing some for three months before we
separated,” he added. “And this guy is willing to tell the court.” With an
excited shout, he scooped me up by the waist and spun me around. “My wife was
having an affair, Mel,” he beamed. “Everything’s going to be all right.”

And, as his smiling lips returned to mine, they were all
right – absolutely everything was all right.
