She
heard her sisters’ giggles. Of course, Sadie knew they were reading her
thoughts. Hadn’t they all done that to the others? Then Granger’s grin grew
wider, likely realizing what her sisters were doing too. He shook his head at
their antics, already growing used to their playfulness with one another.

Sadie
entered the circle with all her attention solely for her mate. Her parents
moved to stand on the perimeter with the others and it was now only the two of
them inside the circle. This was the beginning of their family. It was as if
they were alone even though they were surrounded by those who loved them.
Without thought, they gravitated towards one another until their fingers
touched and sparks from her magic lit the dusky sky around them.

Despite
knowing what to expect from the others’ Pronouncements, it was startling when a
light mist seemingly from out of nowhere surrounded them. It formed heaviest
around Granger and Sadie, making the others appear as if off in the distance.
They were cocooned in its embrace, safe within the space, on their land where
their family would begin its future.

With a
nod, Granger raised his voice so all gathered could hear him. They would be the
only words spoken until the ceremony was complete. It was the pronouncement of
intention, the most sacred of sacraments given to them by their Goddess. “I am
honored to make this Pronouncement.
For Sadie Sinster and me,
Granger DaPaoma.”

He
knelt then with his head bowed before her and Sadie followed him down onto her
knees, capturing his hands tightly in her own. Palm to palm, the couple formed
an unbreakable link. The touch caused a tingling to radiate through her hands,
up her arms and throughout her entire body. Her senses tuned in on a deeper
level to Granger as their thoughts swirled in her mind. Their connection had
just solidified. It would now be unbreakable, impenetrable.

A low
chanting rose from the women gathered. It was powerful and could be felt from
within. Sadie’s eyes grew wide as the smoke rose and swirled around them and
they were alone within this sanctuary, guarded by those who loved them. With a
quiet reverence, each drank from the other in the ritualistic way they’d been
shown, taking only enough to exchange blood inside the circle as required of
the Pronouncement ritual.

The
chanting grew louder, the smoke more colorful until sparks of light burst from
them. Sadie and Granger smiled at one another and stood. They raised their arms
in the air, their hands joined, and lights as bright as fireworks lit the sky
above. Then to her surprise, her mate took her in his arms, turning her so her
attention was completely on him. Music from a guitar began playing and Granger
took a step forward, taking her with him. He swayed and stepped back. Sadie
couldn’t have possibly smiled wider as they danced inside their circle.
Everything was truly as it should be.
