weather people were abuzz with the incoming storm. Evacuations had already started three towns over. She hoped she wouldn't have to abandon her house for higher

ground. She'd ridden out many storms as a child, but this one was supposed to be larger. The media liked to sensationalize the weather, so maybe it would fizzle out before it hit the coast.

Two hours later, she was headed into town. Thanks to Cali and Jenson, she'd

found her car parked in her driveway with a note on the front seat. Lila laughed when she read it.

Did the sheriff handcuff you to the bedpost?

No, the sheriff was a perfect gentleman. Today, Lila had to apologize and thank him for getting her home safely. Armed with a freshly baked batch of chocolate walnut brownies, she made her way into the station. The rain hit the ground hard and fast, and the town was quiet. Everyone must have been preparing for the big storm.

"Yes, the beaches are closed."

She heard Trevor talking on the phone as she entered the station. He sat at his desk, with his feet propped up on the old wooden structure.

"We're in the middle of a tropical storm. What do you think?" He hung up as she approached his desk. "What are you doing here?"

"Hi." She felt the heat creep up the back of her neck. Memories of the night before were more prominent, now that she stood in front of him.

Oh, God. I asked him to make me come
.

"Lila, what are you doing out in this weather?"

"I wanted to thank you for getting me home last night. I made you these." She placed the container on his desk. "I wanted to do something nice for you."

"Brownies?"

"With walnuts." She felt like a ridiculous teenager, trying to get the jock to notice her.

"You used to make these for me all the time." He opened the container and took a whiff. "I missed these. Thanks."

"I haven't made them in years." She couldn't bring herself to make them for anyone other than him. It was her special treat for him.

"How do you feel?" He tried to suppress a smile.

"Okay." She laughed. "I've been better, but it serves me right. I don't drink like that, so I'm feeling it today."

"I drove you to drink."

"Not you. It was just me being stupid. How badly did I humiliate myself last night?" She remembered his hand in her panties. She also remembered she was the one who put it there.

"You didn't."

"Liar." She felt like an idiot.

"You weren't yourself. It's nothing I haven't done myself." He smiled at her, making her feel even more stupid. "It's forgotten."

"Thank you." She looked down at her hands. "I guess you'll be pretty busy with the storm."

"Yeah." He sighed. "As long as everyone stays off the beach and off the roads, we should be okay."

"Well, I'll let you get back to it. Be careful."

"Where are you staying?"

"What do you mean?"

"During the storm? With Jenson or Cali? I'll check in on you."

"I'll be up at the house." She'd ridden out many storms before. She didn't see why this one should be any different.

"By yourself?"

"I'll be fine." She had firewood, food, candles, and flashlights.

"We're expecting heavy rains and strong winds. We'll probably lose electricity."

"I'm not afraid of the dark." She laughed. "But I appreciate your concern."

"I'd don't like the idea of you being out there alone. If the road washes out, I won't be able to get to you."

"You won't have to get to me. I'm sure you'll have other things to deal with." She headed for the door. "Take care."

"Stay at my place." He followed her out. "I'll probably be here most of the night, but I'd feel better, knowing you were close."

His offer was sweet, but she couldn't take him up on it. She thought about the

things she'd said to him, when she was drunk, last evening. She was mortified. "Trevor, last night, I did things I shouldn't have. I can't stay at your house."

"I'm not asking you to sleep with me." He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. "I just want you to be safe."

"I'll be fine." She kissed his cheek. "Thanks for everything."

He shook his head. "Why are you so stubborn?"

"It's just who I am." She pulled up her hood and darted to her car.

Once she got in, she rested her head against the seat and calmed down. He made

her head spin, her heart race, and her panties wet. She knew, if she took him up on his offer to stay at his house, she'd end up in his bed. That was exactly where she craved to be, and that scared her.

Trevor watched as she pulled out of the spot in front of the station. Even through the rain pouring down the windshield, he could see confusion written all over her face.

She wanted him. When Lila was drunk, she didn't lie. If he remembered correctly, she took what she wanted, and worried about it in the morning. But, as much as he'd wanted her the night before, he couldn't take advantage of the situation. They were still on shaky ground. He couldn't complicate things any further. When they made love, he wanted it to be because they were both on the same page. He couldn't let her get caught up in the moment, and run the next day.

All he'd had left of her for so long were his memories. He'd thought about the

last time they were together on more than one occasion. The memory had haunted him for years. It was the night before he'd found out Mary Grace was pregnant.

Trevor sat on Lila's bed and waited for her to come out of the shower. Her father was out of town, and whenever he was away, Trevor spent the night with her. Because they both lived with their parents, they looked forward to any alone time they could steal.

Lila came into the bedroom in nothing but her short, white towel. He could see

the tops of her breasts. He wanted to put his mouth on them.

"I forgot my pajamas." She bit her lip as she walked over to her dresser.

Vixen.

He watched as she rummaged through her drawer and pulled out a black, lacey

bit of material.

"You like this one?" She held up the tiny, sheer negligee.

"It's nice." He moved toward her. "But I prefer you naked."

Trevor tugged at her towel, and in one quick motion, it was at her feet. He

glanced down at her flawless body.

"You're so beautiful." He traced her nipples with his fingertips and watched as they pebbled under his touch. His cock strained against his pants when he thought about how aroused she was.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, seeking out his lips. As they frantically kissed, he moved his hand down her damp skin to between her legs. She softly moaned when he pushed his fingers inside her. The wetness seeping from her gave away her desire. With his free hand, he unbuckled his belt, then let his pants and boxers fall to the floor.

She broke the kiss and looked into his eyes. Her breathing sounded erratic as he continued to finger her pussy, her body shook with anticipation. She wanted him. He could tell by the way she responded.

"I've been thinking about fucking you all day." He picked her up and leaned her against the wall, rubbing his cock against her center.

"Don't stop." She wrapped her legs around his waist and reached down. "I want you."

She took his length in her hand and ran the tip along her folds. She dripped with need.

"You're going to make me come before we even get started." He shifted his hips as she slipped his cock inside her. With one hand under her bottom, he supported her weight, as he pressed the other palm against the wall beside her head. His actions weren't gentle, but Lila never seemed to care. With each thrust of his cock, her pussy grew wetter.

She tightened her grip on his waist with her legs as she ran her hand through his hair.

"Trevor." She closed her eyes, leaned her head against the wall, and let go.

"That didn't take you long." He smiled as he licked her neck. "You must have been thinking about it while you were in the shower."

"Hmm . . . ." She held onto his body tight. "I love you."

He continued to move at a fast pace, sliding all the way out and slamming back

inside her. He loved being coated in her juices. Her scent drove him insane. A few minutes later, he spilled inside her. He looked into her amber eyes the whole time he came.

"You're mine." He placed her on her feet and held her upright. She needed a second to find her balance. "I can't be without you."

He kissed her before releasing her from his firm hold.

"You won't ever have to be." She ran her fingers down his cheek. "I'll never leave you."

* * * * *

But you did leave.

Trevor had to find a way to make her see how much he needed her. They could

get back what they had. He'd prove it to her.

Chapter Seven

Just as Lila settled onto the couch with her cup of hot chocolate, she heard a

banging in the foyer. She jumped at the noise.
As if the wind and rain aren't enough?
Now
what?
When she heard the sound again, she realized it was someone at the front door.

Who would come out in this storm?

She ran to the mahogany door and peeked through the side window. Her eyes

widened when she saw him standing there in his police-issue slicker.

"Trevor?" She pulled open the door. "What are you doing out here?"

"Can I come in?"

"Of course." She stepped out of the way, allowing him entrance. "What are you doing out in the height of the storm?"

"Checking on you."

"Me? I'm fine. I told you I would be." She couldn't believe he'd come all the way out here.

He pulled off his raincoat and unlaced his boots. The rain had soaked through to his pants and shirt. "This is the biggest storm we've seen in years, and you're here all alone. I had to make sure you were safe."

"That's sweet, but how did you even get through? I heard the road washed out."

"I made it across, but had to abandon my cruiser at the bottom of the hill. I hiked the rest of the way on foot." He unfastened his holster and hung it on the coat rack.

"Trevor." She shook her head. "What's wrong with you? That's dangerous."

"You being here all alone is dangerous." He shivered as he rubbed his hands together. "I had to make sure you were okay."

"Take your clothes off." She couldn't have him freezing to death in her foyer. Not after he'd risked his life to make sure she was okay.

"Excuse me?"

"You're going to freeze. I'll throw them in the dryer."

"It's not necessary."

"I insist." She placed her hands on her hips and waited for him to oblige. "Don't be difficult."

"Should I get naked right here?" He reached for his belt buckle.

"What, um, no." She felt heat creep up her neck. "There are some towels in the hall bathroom. Wrap one around you, then come sit by the fire. I'll get some blankets for you to cover yourself while I dry your clothes."

"Thank you, angel." He smirked at the use of his old nickname for her. "I'll place my clothes in the hall."

"I'll meet you in the family room." She stared at him for a few moments before heading to the closet to grab the blankets.

She could feel her heart pound against her ribs. He was here, and in a few

seconds, he'd be naked. How was she going to stay focused? Six years was a long time.

She'd thought about making love with him more than once, through the years. He'd been the object of her fantasies on more than one occasion. Then there was last night, when she'd thrown her drunken self at him.

She tried to clear her head. They had been young, and too stupid to know what

they had wanted, all those years ago. He was nothing more than a teenage memory.

Any chance they'd had at love ended when he'd married another woman.

She picked up his clothes in the hall, threw them in the dryer, then made him a cup of hot chocolate. She topped it off with some vanilla, then dropped in some miniature marshmallows. She remembered how much he liked the marshmallows.

She stopped on the entryway of the family room to watch as he stoked the fire.

His towel hung dangerously low at his hips. She could see the sword tattoo that adorned his left side. It looked as if her initials were still there. She remembered her eighteenth birthday with such clarity.

* * * * *

"You sure you want to do this, angel?" He tucked her hair behind her ear, as she waited patiently in the chair for the tattoo artist to set up his station. In a few minutes, they'd have matching tattoos. Hers wouldn't be as large as his, and she didn't want a sword running through the hearts, but she'd have his initials in the same font, and two hearts that matched the ones on his skin.

"I want your initials on my body just like mine are on yours." Since Trevor was over twenty-one, he had been able to get his tattoo with her initials months ago. Lila had to wait until the state said she was legal. He'd asked her what she wanted for her birthday, and she'd told him: ink.

"Then I'll always belong to you, the same way you do to me." He smiled. "It'll say so, right here." He ran his finger down her hip. "Every time we make love, I'll press my lips to it."

She felt her cheeks heat up as she glanced at the tattoo guy. He seemed to be

oblivious to their conversation. Trevor leaned into her ear. "I'll run my tongue along it on my way to that sweet, little pussy of yours."

* * * * *

"Lila?"

"Huh?" She stared at Trevor's bare chest. "What?"

"Are you okay? You look flush and you were a million miles away."

"You kept my initials?" She blurted out the words before she could stop herself.

"What?" He looked confused.

"Your tattoo." She pointed to his side, just above his hip.

He glanced down as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Yeah, I guess I did. I noticed last night you'd kept mine."

"You saw that much, huh?"
