BROTHERS OF ROCK!

A
Road to
Let Go
(Fallen Tuesday Book
Four
) (A Brothers of Rock
Novel)

The Brothers of
Rock series continues with Fallen

Tuesday!

*

Jake Collins has
always been somewhat of an outsider. The guys in

Fallen Tuesday

are as close as brothers, but when Jake
regretfully announces that his previous girlfriend is pregnant, the band's next
step is held up. With just weeks away from a new album and a monster tour,
Fallen Tuesday cannot afford to let Jake disappear into the storm that is Chloe.

Mel

Burhden is struggling

to make ends meet so she
can afford to pay the private investigator she hired to find her father.

After a tip leads her to
New York, she is forced to

accept
any and all available hours at the hotel, working as both a bartender and a
housekeeper.

Just
when she begins to lose hope of finding her father,

she walks into a hotel room
to find an incredibly sexy, half naked rockstar who begs for her

help.

The second Jake
lays eyes on Mel, he knows she is hiding secrets too. He has no obligation to
reach out to her, but in his heart, he wonders if he's found someone who is as
stuck and confused as him. As he prepares to make what he feels is the best
decision for himself, the band, and even Mel, more truths are exposed and
Jake's actions may destroy everything he has worked so hard for.

Can Jake become
the rockstar the world wants while being the man Mel needs?

(1)

Jake Collins sat holding a guitar
in his hands the way a child would hold a blanket. For warmth. For comfort. Jake
didn

t need to play the
guitar to hear it. His fingers formed the chords but he didn

t strum. He just stared at his
bedroom door.

How did this happen?

Well, it was simple actually. Chloe
strolled back into his life and took his heart back to the years he had tried
to forget. Now Chloe was pregnant, again. This time she swore Jake was the
father. That was one good thing, considering the last time Jake heard Chloe say
the words
I

m
pregnant
she had no idea whether it was Jake

s
baby or Trent

s baby.

Those two words have been Fallen
Tuesday's problem ever since. Jake and Trent were never able to get past the
betrayal and had been battling over just about everything ever since. Except
music. Trent tried to warn Jake when Chloe showed up again, but Jake only
listened to the voice of his younger, immature self that just wanted to sleep
with Chloe and act like they were still teenagers. Trent was able to move on when
he fell in love with Emily, but Jake now sat on the couch, holding a guitar,
wondering how hard he would have to squeeze his eyes shut to go back and not
sleep with Chloe. To not get her pregnant. To not put himself and the band in
this position.

Trent was the only one who knew
Jake

s secret. If roles
were reversed, Jake would have run to the entire band and spread the news like
wildfire. The fact that he didn't, proved that he was a sincere friend.

It was Jake who was a complete ass.

Jake leaned forward and rested the
guitar against the coffee table. He rubbed his face and thought about the night
they were handed the reins by Chasing Cross. Thousands upon thousands of people
cheering. Probably their biggest show ever. Jake swore he could look out and
count every fan in attendance and feel them. Their excitement. Their love. The
emotions that poured out of them during the rock ballads they sang. That

s what the music was about and
that

s the reason Jake had
always wanted to be a rockstar. As a teenager, his list of reasons to become a
rockstar had three things on it. The first had been girls. What teenage boy wouldn

t have wanted that? The second
on the list was money. Because money bought more guitars, fast cars, and a ton
of fun things. The third reason was the fans.

Now, the list was reversed. The
first, and most important, reason was the fans. The second was the women (not
girls, but real women), and finally money. Money was last because out of all
the items on his mental list, Jake had lots of money. More than he ever thought
he

d make and with the
release of the new album coming soon, he would make even more. It was insane to
think about sometimes. It made Jake

s
heart pound and he would find himself questioning his entire existence. And then
it always seemed to lead him down a road to trouble.

Shit,

Jake whispered.

He sat back on the couch.

The second he heard about Trent
getting arrested because Chloe had come to town, he had to call her. He had to
meet up with her. He had to do something with her to show her just how much he

d grown as a man and as a
rockstar. Hell, Jake had everything all set up before he even called Chloe. The
fancy car. The expensive hotel. The wild night.

It was supposed to be a one night
stand. A night to show her what she was missing out on. A night of fun and then
a morning of uncomfortable silence while one of them left. Nothing that Jake
hadn

t experienced already
on the road with the band.

But it was Chloe. She was addictive
poison and she sank her fangs deep into Jake. Her poison must have destroyed
his ability to make smart decisions, because Jake had sunk
himself
deep
into Chloe and now she was carrying a life that Jake helped create.

The bedroom door opened and every
muscle in Jake

s body
stiffened. Chloe stumbled from the bedroom running a hand through her messy
morning hair. She wore a faded black Fallen Tuesday shirt that hung past her
knees. The neck had been purposely ripped and cut so the shirt revealed her
bare shoulders. Her fingernails were a light blue color that matched her
toenails. She was like a beautiful dream, most of the time, or at least when
she was quiet and didn

t
hang around as long as she had now. Jake knew Chloe was wearing nothing under
that long t-shirt. He knew because they went to bed the night before and Jake
had taken all her clothing off.

Chloe was an addiction. And each
time Jake enjoyed her body, he regretted it. Because the look Chloe gave him
was something much more serious. Sometimes she looked in love. Sometimes she
looked excited to finally have a rich person to take care of her. And last
night, after they were done being together, Chloe had teasingly bent over to
grab the t-shirt off the floor, and put it on. Just a t-shirt. A simple move that
ten years ago would have made Jake fall in love with her all over again.

That was Chloe. She had always been
the one to be crazy. To try anything. To go with the flow. To be beautiful and
seductive and really damn sexy all the time. It was like she never had a bad
day, but she always found a way to ruin everyone else

s day.

Morning,

Chloe purred and then yawned.

Hey,

Jake said.

Chloe pulled her hair back with
both hands. She smiled as she t-shirt pulled halfway up between her knees and a
private part of her body. She bent her left knee and stood there. Jake knew the
move.

How
do you feel?

Jake asked.

He looked at Chloe

s belly. As weird as it was, the
t-shirt she wore had a cartoon version of Jake with his mouth open, tongue
hanging out, guitar in the air right at her stomach. Of course Chloe wasn

t showing yet as it was far too
early. But it wasn

t about
showing. It wasn

t about a
big belly; it was about an existing life.

Yet in the back of Jake

s mind, there was doubt.

What
time do you have to leave?

Chloe asked.

Jake looked at the clock on the
wall above the TV. It wasn

t
even ten in the morning yet. Jake wasn

t
used to being up this early unless it was for recording. But sleep hadn

t come easily the past few
weeks.

Couple
hours or so,

Jake said.

Why?

Chloe walked slowly toward Jake.
She let her hair fall. It was thick with a slight natural curl to it. Her hair
bounced and the messy look made Jake think of sex. Everything about Chloe made
him think of sex. It didn

t
seem right, at least not anymore. When he was younger, sure, that was fun.

Chloe stepped over the guitar
leaning against the coffee table. She put her hands to Jake

s shoulders and pushed at him.
He was against the back of the couch and slowly, Chloe opened her legs. The t-shirt
rose up her body and when she climbed on the couch and straddled Jake, he saw
her. Jake instinctively put his hands to Chloe

s
waist, over the shirt though. If it were a different time with different
thoughts in his mind, Jake would have taken full advantage of the situation
with Chloe showing her body to him.

Instead, Jake looked at her face.
Into her eyes.

He couldn

t help but think about what happened with Trent.
Chloe came back for Trent. It was only when Trent rejected Chloe that she came
to Jake. But Jake wondered if she and Trent had been together. She swore on her
life nothing happened.

What

s wrong?

Chloe asked.

She moved her body on Jake and
giggled.

Just,
it

s okay,

Jake said and forced a smile.

A lot on my mind right now. You
know? Trying to finish the album. Trying to stay close with the guys.

Oh,

Chloe said.

You

re not close anymore because of me?

No,

Jake said. It was a lie.

Just a lot of stress. Gray

s brother. Shit with Trent. Luke

s voice. Been noticing that Mack
has been drinking a little too much lately. We have a lot riding on this album.
I think we just want the damn thing out and to get back on the road.

I
don

t like that part,

Chloe said, pouting.

What
part?

The
on the road
part. You

re
going to leave me.

To
play shows,

Jake said.

To do my job. You can

t be jealous of that, right?

Chloe leaned forward and let her
hair fall in her face and Jake

s.

I can be jealous of
anything I want. My man is a rockstar. You know how many women want to sleep
with you? And I

m going to
be here getting fat.

Jake did the worst thing possible
at that moment. He opened his hands and took them from Chloe

s body. He didn

t mean to do it like that, but
it happened. Then there was silence as Chloe looked at him. That sweet,
innocent face suddenly turned into the bitch Chloe could be.

Am
I fat right now?

she
asked.

No,

Jake said.

Good save. Not.

I
am. I knew it. You already can

t
stand me.

Chloe practically jumped off Jake

s body. She stood before him,
looking upset. She swung her left foot and kicked Jake

s guitar. It fell to the floor with a
bong
sound as all the strings hit the floor at once.

What
the hell is wrong with you?

Jake asked.

You
think you can just knock me up and then go sleep with other women?

I
never said that,

Jake
said.

I never did that,
Chloe. Christ. I

m right
here, aren

t I?

For
now. I know how this works. Big rockstar goes on the road with his pregnant
wife at home.

Jake

s
mouth opened. He didn

t
know what to deal with first in that statement. Whether Chloe implied Jake was
going to hit the road and sleep with other women or the fact that Chloe had
just referred to herself at Jake

s
wife.

Wife?

There was no way in hell Chloe
would ever become Jake

s
wife.

Just
calm down,

Jake said.

You don

t know what I

m
going through right now.

Another bonehead thing to say to
Chloe. Or to say to any pregnant woman.

Chloe put a hand to her stomach.

How about what I

m going through? I have about
twenty minutes until I throw up for the first time this morning. How exciting
for me.

Jake knew how this went. Chloe
would bitch and complain until Jake groveled and apologized for something. He
slid to the edge of the couch and took Chloe

s
other hand. He looked up at her.

Hey,

he said.

I

m
sorry, okay? I didn

t mean
to say anything like I did. I

m
not going on the road to sleep with other women. I don

t think you

re
fat. I have no idea what you

re
going through, carrying a baby.

Our
baby,

Chloe said.

Yes.
Our baby.

Jake took a deep
breath.

I have two hours
to kill and you have twenty minutes to kill. Name it and I

ll do it.

That

s
when Chloe smiled that wild vixen smile that had stolen Jake

s heart, and almost broke up
Fallen Tuesday, and she took her hand from her belly and touched Jake

s face.

Me,

she whispered.

Do me.
