A second chance...At first love (Second Love Series Book 1) (14 page)

Izzie and Ellington

Over the next few months they got back into their old routine, except now Ellington was no longer afraid of his dreams, so he didn't leave every night.  His nightmares started to lessen and on the nights he did have one, Izzie would kiss his forehead, pull him to her chest and wrap her arms around him until they both fell back to sleep. On Saturday, Ellington woke up like usual to exercise and check his email.  Izzie lay sleeping in bed.  He stopped to watch her for a moment.  She'd been really tired from work lately.  Normally she would get up and talk to him while he dressed, so he didn't want to wake her.  After his workout he planned to head to the office for a few hours then spend the evening with his Isabella.  She told him that she wanted to stay in tonight and asked if that was okay with him.  It was it just meant he could get her into bed earlier.  He hurried to finish as much as he could at the office then headed back home, but he had to make a stop first.  When he got back to the house, Izzie was listening to their favorite old school station on Spotify and dancing around while cooking.

"Smells good, what's for dinner," he said.

"You'll see."  He walked over and tried to lift the lid off of one of the pots, she smacked his hand.

"Ouch, ok...ok, I'll wait."

"Good! Go change and get comfy!"  He went and changed and by the time he came back she had set the table.

"Need any help?"

"No baby, go sit down."  She walked out with drinks and set them on the table, then came back with the plates and set them on the table then sat next to him.

"What do you think?" she said.

"Smells great and looks terrific."

"Notice anything?"  He paused and really examined the table.  She had put flowers on the table, which was not unusual, but it looked like the vase was a baby bottle.  He was confused, and then he looked at his plate and noticed ribs, baby back.  Not just baby back ribs but there was also baby carrots and baby corn.  Next to his plate was a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce. He looked at up at her.  She was watching him carefully.

"Iz, what are you saying?  Does...does this mean...oh my god, Isabella! Are you serious?"

He jumped up from the table, swept her up in his arms and kissed her, tears streaming down his face.

"I found out a few days ago. I had been so tired, more than usual and I couldn't figure out why so I took a pregnancy test. I confirmed it with the doctor three days ago.  I've been dying to tell you but I wanted to do something fun."

"I'm so happy baby.  Iz, I can't believe it! This is the best news ever."

"Me too, I was so nervous."

He dropped to his knees and kissed her stomach.  He reached in his pocket and pulled out a Tiffany blue ring box.  He opened the box and she saw the beautiful round cut, two carat diamond solitaire engagement ring.

"And I thought I was the one that was going to have the big surprise.  Isabella Chloe Bunton, will you marry me?"  She started crying, dropped to her knees and kissed him.
