Chapter Fifteen

What I am asking from you isn’t a lot.

All you have to do is agree and my world will be made.

From the moment I saw you,

I knew my life would never be the same,

Until you granted me this one wish

.

I have asked before, but you turned me down.

Like a child I have wished upon a star, talked to

The man in the moon for this one little wish

To come true.

I am not asking for a lot. I only need...

One Taste

That’s all I am asking from you.

Only one taste.

I swear it will do.

All I need is for you to step closer

And give me just one taste

One little taste of your lips against mine.

Seconds, minutes and hours tick by

As I wait for your decision.

How can you keep me wanting you like this?

It’s torture. Wondering what you will do.

Do you sit up at night laughing at my need for you?

Or do you sleep like a new born baby without a care in the world?

While I’m at home wondering what I should do about my need for you and if

You will make my wish come true.

We both know all of this craziness will go away if you

Give in to my wants....my need for ....

One Taste

That’s all I am asking from you.

Only one taste.

I swear it will do.

All I need is for you to step closer

And give me just one taste

One little taste of your lips against mine.

You might think I will wait forever and a day for your decision,

But you are wrong.

I do have my pride. I know how to move on to another man.

A man who will want me as much or more than

I have wanted that one little thing from you.

One Taste

That’s all I am asking from you.

Only one taste.

I swear it will do.

All I need is for you to step closer

And give me just one taste

One little taste of your lips against mine.

When the time has come and gone. You will think

Back to this time in your life and wish for a do over.

But it w ill be too late for regrets.

Too late for a phone call.

All you will be able to do is think about

How you should have agreed to my wish for only one taste...

One Taste

That’s all I am asking from you.

Only one taste.

I swear it will do.

All I need is for you to step closer

And give me just one taste

One little taste of your lips against mine.

Easing up behind his beautiful wife, Jax wrapped his arms around Sahara’s waist pulling her against his chest. He knew she was upset with him for not letting her go on the shopping trip with Raya, but her stalker was still out here and silent.

She could be mad at him all she wanted, but her safety came first with anything she did with her life. Yes, she might be a vampire now but she still needed more training at how to use her newly found strength at defending herself against a surprise attack.

“Sweetheart, are you still not talking to me?” he whispered against the side of Sahara’s neck. “You know how much I hate it when you’re upset with me.”

His wife tried to get out of his grip, but he held on to her even tighter. They couldn’t let this continue for the rest of the day. No, he wanted to clear the air so she could enjoy the surprise he had set up for them tonight.

“Yes, I’m still mad at you,” Sahara admitted, spinning around in his arms. “I haven’t been out with Raya since we got married and I wanted to spend the day with her. I don’t understand why you told me no. Before we got married I went out shopping with Raya all the time. It was the only thing I looked forward to every week and now you think it’s too dangerous. How is that possible?” she asked, glaring at him and her beautiful eyes flashed for a moment them went back to normal.

As much as he hated to admit it, Sahara was right. He was holding onto to her too tightly. He turned her which meant her senses were higher tuned to everything around her. She needed a chance to prove herself and her skills as a vampire. He should to let her go and spread her wings.

Jax had to remember that Sahara was human first before becoming his mate. She still wanted to feel like a part of that life. He planted a kiss on her mouth and then ran his fingers through her hair that she was beginning to let grow out for him. It would be very difficult for him to do this, but he couldn’t keep his wife locked up or she would rebel against him.

“Baby, you’re right. I should have let you go to the mall with Raya. I know that you would have been on the lookout for anything dangerous. How about we compromise and you go to one of those boutiques you love so much with her first?” he suggested. “The place is smaller and safer. You would know instantly if someone was out of place or looking at you longer than they should be.”

His mate’s eyes lit up with pleasure making them sparkle more than they usually did. “Are you sure?” Sahara asked, hugging him. “I mean you aren’t going to be hiding out somewhere watching everything are you?”

The thought had crossed his mind, but he was going to let his wife have a free day with her best friend. She had to learn to use her powers more without him being her constant shadow.

“Yes, I’m sure,” Jax said. “Besides Zander and Thorsten are both coming over to discuss some business matters with me, so why don’t you call and see if Raya will change her plans and go with you instead?”

“Oh, baby. I love you so much,” Sahara told him before giving him a kiss and rushing out of the recording studio he had added on to the house.

The immediate urge to follow behind his woman was  there; yet, Sahara needed some time away from him and he had to learn to trust she could handle being alone.

Sighing, Jax ran his hands through his hair as he went out of the studio. After the argument they had the other day he never thought he would see a true smile on her beautiful face again until a few minutes ago. He knew he had made the right decision by letting her go. He wanted Sahara to be happy with him each and every day of her life.

Nothing was going to keep him from giving Sahara the best life possible which meant getting rid of her crazy stalker once and for all. He made his way down the hallway and then upstairs to his office. He needed to call Frank and run some of his concerns about her stalker past him.

The guy was lying low for way too long and they needed to figure out why. All he wanted was a few minutes alone with the guy and everything would be alright. Sahara wouldn’t have to worry about anything ever again.

No matter how long it took he was going to get this bastard out of her life. She saved him from the sleep of the dead and he sure in the hell wasn’t about to lose her to some psycho that didn’t know how to control his sick urges to hurt his mate.

Chapter Sixteen

“Do you think you will be able to help me out with a new security system in my house?” Jill Case, Thorsten’s newest client asked Zander as she took a seat across from his desk.

He was surprised by how much security she wanted added to her house. With the extra money he could spend more time romancing Sabrina which was one thing he’d decided to spend all of his free time on anyway.

“Yes, I think I should be able to do everything you want,” he answered, glancing down at the list he had written down.

“That’s wonderful. Could you come by my house around ten o’clock tomorrow?” Ms. Case asked. “I want to do a walk through with you to make sure the places I have picked out will be alright for the cameras. I’ve a lot of expensive jewelry and antiques in my house. I know I live in a gated community but a person can never be too safe.”

Ms. Case wouldn’t have to be worried about any of her property after his security cameras were in place. No one would get into or leave her house without him or one of his employees knowing about it. He wasn’t much on bragging about himself, but he was sure about this.

“Tomorrow at ten is fine,” Zander answered. “I can move some things around on my schedule.”

“Thank you so much. I appreciate your willingness to work with me.” Standing up, Ms. Case extended her hand towards him. “I want to thank you again for taking time out of your day to meet with me. Thorsten told me that you cut your lunch date short to come back to work to see me.”

Getting up out of his chair, Zander shook her hand and for a spilt second he realized Ms. Case fit the image of the women he’d pursued in the past. With her long, sandy blond hair, big blue eyes and legs that went on for miles she would have caught his attention pretty easily back then.

However, since finding Sabrina the only way he saw her now was as a potential new client. “You’re so welcome.” He shook her hand and then let go of it. “I hope we will be able to work well together. I want to be able to help you anyway that I can.”

“Does your offer also include us dealing with each other outside you hooking up my security system?” she asked, smiling up at him.

Zander moved back and retook his seat. He sensed Ms. Case might want more than a business relationship from the way she had been eyeing him since they got introduced, but unlike Thorsten he wasn’t going to take what was being offered so freely.

Why would he even think about it when he had the most gorgeous woman in the world?

“No, I don’t think anything less than professional will be possible,” he answered.

“Are you sure?” Jill flirted back smiling down at him. “I would love to get to know you better since I’m new in town.”

The idea of going out on a date with Jill didn’t even tempt him in the least. He wasn’t interested in knowing more about her unless it involved their business relationship because he would never have a personal one with her.

“Ms. Case, I don’t get involved with any of my clients. It works better all around if I keep things on the up and up,” Zander replied, hoping she got the hint.

A small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as Jill’s eyes continued to rake over his body. “I should let you know how much I love when a man tells me no.  It only makes me want to pursue him even more, Mr. Irizarry. I think you are just the thing I’ve been looking for.” She gave him a sexy wink then turned on her heel and sauntered out of his office.

A bad feeling settled over Zander’s entire body as he watched the woman leave his office. This wasn’t the first time one of his female clients had come on to him, but after his speech the women usually let him alone.

Jill wasn’t going to be one of those women. He felt her need to win him over at all cost. She wasn’t a female who was used to a man telling her no and she wasn’t going to stand for it. Not that it mattered to him anyway because she wasn’t about to get what she wanted from him. There was no need for him to read her mind since he could read her face as plain as day.

If he wasn’t in love with his mate, he still wouldn’t get involved with a high maintenance woman because he wasn’t that kind of person himself.

In general, he had worked too hard over the years to detach himself from getting too emotionally involved with any clients who might steer him in the wrong direction. So, he had to stay focused on the most important objective which was his business and Sabrina.

He refused to believe that he wouldn’t end up with his woman. Why should he start placing limitations on his life since he had never done it in his past?

Possibilities were endless when it came to winning over his mate.  So what if he started out being friends with her brother first and that was how he found his
Unique
woman? Friendship was an important part of a vampire’s connection with his mate.

Zander liked how he could say or do anything around Sabrina and still be respected by her. Yes, she might not be ready to commit to him in the way that mattered most to him, but it wasn’t so far off that it didn’t give him something to look forward to in the future.

His mate had a special air which attracted him like nothing he had ever seen before and he wasn’t about to lose their connection for a woman he cared nothing about. Getting a new buyer at Access Granted was always thrilling to him. It was the only thing that kept him grounded from the rest of the world when he needed his wandering mind to lock on to something else.

“What are you still doing here? I thought you would at Jill’s house checking it out. She seemed very interested in working with you more than she did me.”

Zander’s eyes darted to the left and he glared at Thorsten standing there looking more smug than usual. What had his cousin done now?

“No, I didn’t go with her because we set up an appointment for tomorrow. Besides, I hope you don’t think I’m going to get involved with her, it isn’t going to happen. Anyway, what has you in such a good mood? You were happy when I left your office earlier but not like this.”

Sliding his hands into the pockets of his slacks, Thorsten rested his shoulders against the doorjamb and continued to smile at him. “I was trying to set the two of you up on a date. In addition, I’m planning a meeting with the woman about her hedge fund. I can’t wait until I get my hands on it. I have so many plans for it.”

The only reason he took the job was because of the other wealthy clients she could bring to his company. He wanted Access Granted to continue to be successful for him and Avery despite the fact his best friend wasn’t here anymore. But now his poor decision, accepting a job from a woman who  was interested in him, had given his mate the wrong impression about him and he couldn’t let that happen. Pushing back his chair, Zander stood up grabbing his car keys off his desk. “Don’t you feel bad at all for what you’re doing to this family? Instead of taking it away from them have you ever thought about helping them? You’re brilliant with numbers and in a month or two you could have them back up and running.”

“Are you out of your mind?” Thorsten asked, standing up to his full six feet three inches. “Why would I take something away from my business to help another person?”

Walking over to the other side of the room, Zander picked up his black work duffel bag off the floor. He didn’t know why he kept trying to get through to his cousin. He could talk until he was blue in the face and it wouldn’t make any difference. Thorsten would always think about himself first and that wasn’t ever going to change.

“Maybe it would give you a sense of just doing something nice for another person. Everything can’t revolve around you for the rest of your life.” Zander moved over to his cousin and stopped directly in front of him.

He saw the way Thorsten’s body tensed up from his criticism. Honest words might hurt now but in the end they would help his cousin become a better vampire but more importantly a better man for his mate to love.

“Are you even listening to me?” Zander questioned, looking down at Thorsten who was a few inches shorter than him.

“I hear you the same way I hear Jax when he gives me a similar speech. I’m going to tell you the same thing I tell him. I know what I’m doing, so leave me alone and worry about yourself instead of getting so caught up in my life.” Spinning away from him, Thorsten stormed off down the hallway.

Zander recalled being angry and restless like that not so long ago. He always felt like he was searching for something to fill his emptiness but never exactly knew what it was until he laid eyes on Sabrina.

Thorsten was going through the same destructive ways as he had and it would only stop when his baby cousin found his mate. He might not want to believe him, but it was true.

Exiting his office , Zander closed the door behind him and locked it. The last problem he needed was Thorsten sneaking back inside to search for clients to use for his hedge fund. He couldn’t let his mind be consumed about the office after he left Jax’s because he was going to make a surprise trip over to Sabrina’s house.

He hoped she would be up for a movie, dinner and a little dancing afterwards. If she wasn’t up for that maybe he could set up a romantic dinner for her on her patio. He had to find a way to get Sabrina back into his arms. He loved the feel of her against him. Having his mate close to him relaxed all the unwanted tension from his entire body. All he needed was for Sabrina to accept him and she would no matter how many hoops she might have to jump through.

Tonight step one begins winning over his woman and Zander knew he wasn’t going to back down until he got what was his because he wasn’t about to take no for an answer. Once he set his sights on something, he never let anything or anyone get away from him.
