Chapter Fourteen

Tyler

I should have felt ashamed or guilty sleeping naked with my best friend's girlfriend, in his damn bed no less, but I couldn’t. It just felt too fucking right. Last night was possibly the best sleep I've ever had. My only problem was how hard I was now that I was awake, my cock resting right within the crease of Lauren's perfect ass. I'd told her I didn't want anything, just to sleep with her during the night…but now it was morning, and I didn't know if I could resist. I was pretty sure she was awake since her breathing had changed, and I could feel her body tense up.

Wondering if she wanted me too, I decided to feel her mood out by feeling her up. I lightened my hold on her waist and trailed my fingertips in circles around her bellybutton. I felt her gasp, but she didn't tell me to stop. Moving my hand up, I cupped her soft perfect breast, taking her nipple between two fingers.

My hips pressed against her backside while I kissed her bare shoulder, making her shiver. Getting harder and more eager by the second, I slid my hand down between her legs. When my fingers grazed her sex she arched her back, pushing against my erection. She was already so damn hot and wet, which answered my question. When I penetrated her with two fingers she moaned my name.

"I want you so much it hurts," I told her, still pressing open mouth kisses on her neck and shoulder while my fingers moved between her legs. "Can I have you Lauren?"

"Yes," she moaned the word over and over as she came on my fingers.

I barely let her finish before rolling her to her back and climbing between her legs. My arms went underneath her shoulders, pulling her to me as I ravished her mouth, pushing my tongue into hers around her gasps. My cock rubbed against her slick pussy as we ground frantically against each other, her hips raising up to meet mine, eagerly seeking penetration. Lauren moaned in frustration as I held back, as there was one thing left to worry about.

"Do I need a condom?" I asked her. She looked up at me, her green eyes hazy with arousal and shook her head.

"I'm on the shot and I'm clean," she answered, and that was all I needed to hear.

"Me too," I said, then plunged completely into her and held still. It was too much, too soon and too good. She arched against me, urging me even deeper."You feel so fucking good…so wet and tight."

When I could finally move we both groaned. I'd never gone bareback with anyone before, and it was incredible to feel her warm silky flesh grasping my cock.

"Please Tyler, more," she begged. Moving her hips urgently, she slid up and down my cock, fucking me while I stayed still above her. The woman was killing me, and I was going to die a happy man.

I pulled back and thrust into her, making her cry out as my cock rammed her cervix.

"Harder. Faster.
Oh God
!" she screamed out with each thrust, before clenching around me, milking my orgasm out of me until I came in an explosive roar of ecstasy.

I collapsed onto Lauren, trying to brace some of my weight on my elbows beside her head and my knees between her thighs. My lungs didn't remember how to work and my heart was trying to race out of my chest.

"Fuck Lauren. That was the best sex of my life."

"Yeah, even better than I imagined, and you were pretty damn incredible in my fantasies," she said, making me laugh.

Her hands rubbed lightly over my short hair, holding me to her chest like she didn't want me to move. I felt the same way.

"I could stay here all day," I told her with a kiss to her collarbone.

"Do you have to go to work?"

"Tonight. I hate third shift. Do you have class this morning?" I asked. I wasn’t sure when she left for school since I was usually at work during the days.

"Yeah. I was supposed to be there thirty minutes ago," she laughed.

"Shit, I'm sorry Lauren." I started to reluctantly move off of her but she held me in place, stopping me.

"I can miss a day."

I looked down at her face. "So, we can stay right here and have more mind-blowing sex all day?" I asked with a grin.

She smiled back at me and nodded.

"Good," I told her, pushing her hair from her face. "Because I haven't had enough of you." Dipping down I kissed her lips once then pulled back. "I don't know if I'll ever get enough of you."

There was a thread of worry in my gut. Worry that this was only a one day fling, and then she'd tell me she doesn't want to hurt Caleb. I didn’t know if I could handle that now, but I didn't want to think about it and ruin my time with her, especially if this was all I might get.

Lauren

I'd slept with Tyler and I'd
slept
with Tyler. Both were things I had thought about in great detail, but the real experiences had greatly exceeded my fantasies. Being with him felt so right. The way he looked at me, the way he touched me, the way he kissed me, all felt incredibly perfect. I'd never experienced anything like it, and sometime that morning I even decided Tyler was the only one I wanted. I was going to tell Caleb when he came home. I didn’t want to hurt him, but I couldn't keep going back and forth. It wasn't fair to either of them.

After spending the entire day in bed together, Tyler had to take a shower and get ready for the six to six shift. I missed him before he even left. When it was time for him to go I walked him to the front door where he pulled me to him for a long kiss goodbye.

"Call me if you need me, okay?" he said as he reached for the door knob. Would I ever get used to how amazing he looked in his freaking uniform?

"Tyler?" I called out.

"Yeah?"

"I, um, I want you."

He groaned and came back for another kiss. "I want you too baby, but I've got to go."

"That's not what I mean. Well, I do want you that way too, but what I mean is I’m going to end things with Caleb when he comes home."

"Oh," he said softly, leaning his forehead against mine. "I'm really glad to hear you say that. I thought this might be just a temporary thing, and it would have killed me. I care about you so damn much."

"I'm sorry about everything before," I told him.

"It's okay. It doesn't matter now. I've gotta go, but I'll be wrapping my arms around you before you wake up, okay?"

I smiled at the thought and nodded. "Okay. Be careful."

"Always," he said with another smile, and then he was gone.

I was on top of the world. Lauren said she wanted me. Now it was just a matter of telling Caleb when he came home in a few months. I’m sure he’d want to move out once he found out, and I hated to lose him from my life. We’d been best friends since we were nine years old, and he’d been like a brother to me all these years. But for Lauren, I’d sacrifice anything for her, even our friendship.

When I got home that morning I went to Caleb’s room to slip into bed with Lauren, but she wasn’t there. The bed was made and hadn’t been slept in. Huh. The Honda she'd just bought with the insurance money from her accident was still here so she must be … in my bed, I thought with a smile.

I went down the hall and there she was, looking perfect and beautiful tangled in my white sheets. I showered and climbed in with her a few minutes later, wrapping my arms around her.

“I’m glad you’re home,” she said softly, still half asleep.

“I’m glad to be home, and I like finding you in my bed.”

“I washed your sheets last night,” she said, rolling over to rest her head on my chest.

“Thanks. Now I can’t wait to get them dirty again.”

Chapter Fifteen

The next nine weeks with Lauren were the best of my life. Right up until Caleb came home a day early from basic training and fucked everything up.

I heard the front door open while Lauren and I were still in bed asleep. Realization dawned on me almost instantly. I had time to jump out of bed and put pants on, but not enough time to warn Lauren, who was sleeping naked.

What the fuck
?!” Caleb yelled from my doorway. His fists were clenching like he was ready to hit me.

From the corner of my eye I saw Lauren jerk awake in bed, but I didn’t take my eyes off of Caleb. He was getting more pissed by the second.

“I’m sor-” I started, and he took another step toward me, then held up a palm interrupting me.

“Don’t. Don’t even say you’re sorry, because neither of you look fucking sorry. What the hell Lauren?"

“Caleb, I was going to tell you when you got home. I missed you so much, but it was too hard not hearing anything from you for almost three months. No calls, no emails, no text messages. You didn't even write me a letter,” Lauren said, her eyes starting to water as she clenched the sheets to her chest.

"That's called
being in the fucking military
. Damn, don't you think I wanted to do all those things? I wanted to be here with you. I thought about you every single fucking day. I'm sorry I had to leave you, and that you couldn't wait for me. But you," he said pointing at me. "We've been friends for twelve goddamn years, and I thought I could trust you! How long did you wait to fuck her after I left? A day, two?" he asked, taking another step toward me, clenching his jaw. "Or did you screw her before I even left?" He glowered at the two of us. Lauren lowered her eyes in answer, the truth being pretty damn close to an affirmative response to that question.

"Well, fuck both of you," he said before swinging at me.

I instinctively started to move away, but I figured I deserved it and let his punch land. His fist slammed into my jaw, whipping my head around.

I heard Lauren yell for him to stop, but I didn’t want her in the middle of this getting hurt.

“Lauren, just stay back and keep out of this,” I told her quickly, rubbing my aching jaw before I spoke to him. “I’ll give you that one because I deserved it, but hit me again and it’s on,” I warned him. I knew from years of messing around we’d be evenly matched in a fight size wise, but he probably had the upper hand today with the amount of rage pouring off of him.

He came at me. I blocked his next fist and threw my own, nailing him across the face. From then on everything was a blur of body parts swinging and several blows that knocked the shit out of me. The lamp beside my bed busted, DVDs went flying, and dents were put in the walls. It was a fucking mess.

Finally we both stopped fighting, once the combination of our exhaustion and injuries gave us pause. I sat against the foot of the bed and Caleb was laid out across from me, his back against the wall. He looked like hell, and I was sure I did too, as we both tried to catch our breath. My ribs hurt with every intake of air, my fists were bloody, the side of my face felt swollen, and I tasted blood in my mouth.

One of Caleb’s eyes was already swelling and turning dark, his fists were cut open and bleeding, and he was rubbing the side of his head.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve fought,” I told him.

“Yeah. You still pack a helluva punch.”

“I think we'll have to call that round a draw. Or both of us losers for being so fucking stupid. Lauren’s gone.”

“Shit.”

“I hope she didn’t run back to that fucking apartment, or that worthless bitch that gave birth to her.”

“God, I hope not,” he said.

“One night I tried to get her up when she fell asleep on the couch, and she woke up yelling because she thought I was one of her mom’s boyfriends messing with her.”

“Goddamn it,” he said, rubbing a hand through his short hair. “Call and tell her to come back. I’ll leave. Just give me a few days to find somewhere else.”

“Thanks,” I told him before pulling myself up from the floor and looking for my phone. It had been knocked to the floor and was under the bed. I grabbed it and called her, but of course she didn’t answer. I left her a voicemail telling her we were sorry, that we weren’t fighting anymore, and to please come back. I sent her a similar text message, and sat on the edge of the bed, phone in my hand, waiting and hoping for a response.

“So, you love her?” he asked from his spot on the floor.

“Yeah, I think so.” We'd never actually said the words for whatever reason, but I'd loved her for a while now. Maybe I'd held back because I was worried about what would happen when Caleb came back.

“I was falling for her. Even after just a few weeks. I thought about her every damn day, hating I had to up and leave her.” He shook his head. “Now I wonder, maybe if I hadn’t left …”

I knew what he was thinking. “I wonder the same thing, and I fucking hate it.”

“Tell me what happened.
Before
I left,” he said, jaw clenched.

“You sure you want to know? You're gonna want to hit me again.”

He sighed and threw his head back against the wall. “Just tell me.”

“Well, I ought to start by telling you that I actually met her first.”

“Bullshit. I’d been with her an hour before you showed up that night, and she barely said a word to you.”

“She showed up at Shooter's that night to
meet me
, but I had to work late. I'd responded to her wreck earlier that morning.”

His mouth fell open and words failed him for a few minutes. “Why the fuck didn't you say anything?”

I shrugged, then winced when it made my entire body hurt. “I gave her the chance that night to tell you. She didn’t, which led me to believe she’d picked you.”

“I didn’t know. She told me she was waiting for a friend …”

“Yeah. So she came home with you that night, and after you left the next morning …”

“You fucked her the morning after me! Jesus!” he said, standing up.

“No. I never actually fucked her before you left. She, um…I woke up with her in my bed, naked, and she went down on me.”

He scoffed.

“I questioned her, asked her why she wasn't with you, but I didn't really protest. I mean, can you blame me?” I smirked.

“Fucking bastard. So that was it?”

“Ah, no. Then I went down on her and told her to leave.”

“Was that the only time?”

“We may have also kissed the night she got robbed. She was in the living room, upset and crying.”

“Wow. I can’t believe I didn’t realize all this shit,” he said as he paced along the foot of the bed.

“Oh, and I went to see her at work the first Thursday night.”

“Yeah I went and saw her a few times too.”

“Did you get a private lap dance?” I asked, unable to hide my grin.

“Yes. Why?
Did
you
?”

“Yeah. She’d sort of promised me one the morning of her wreck when I gave her a ride to the rental car place.”

“Goddamn it. I feel like such a fucking idiot. I wish I’d known before I left …”

“You still would have thought about her.”

“Yeah, probably.”

“So are we okay? I know you can’t forgive me for this shit, but can we at least stop beating the hell out of each other?”

“Yeah. At least until I heal,” he said with a smirk. "I'm sorry I lost it. Just seeing you and her …" he said shaking his head. "I'm more pissed at myself than you. It's my fault for leaving, and fuck, I missed her. I've never cared about anyone so much, and now she's gone. Hell, maybe I never even had her," he said, rubbing his hands over his face and wincing when he touched his eye.

“I get it, and if I were you I'd want to kill me. That night at the bar, when I showed up and you were all over her, hell, I knew you didn't have any idea that she was there for me, because you wouldn't have ever touched her. It was a fucked up thing for me to do to you, and I'm sorry, but I don't regret it."

He didn't say anything after that, and I figured we'd hashed it out enough.

"I’m going to get a shower and go look for her. If she shows up will you call me?” I asked him.

He nodded, then walked out of my room, head hanging.

I left the house fifteen minutes later. My first stop was her old apartment. Thank fuck her car wasn’t there.

I figured she was at Jess’s place, but I didn’t have her phone number or address. If I knew her last name I would have looked her up at work. I didn’t, so sit and wait it was.

She’d be working tonight since it was Saturday, but I had to work third shift and couldn’t show up at the strip club in my uniform. By the time I clocked in at six that night I still hadn’t heard a word from her.

I hated the night shift. I hated it even more knowing that Lauren wouldn’t be waiting for me in my bed when I got home in the morning.

I'd been on patrol for six hours, and other than one drunk driver and a speeder, the streets had been quiet tonight.

I was sitting in a parking lot with my lights off, patiently waiting with my speed radar for an offender, when I decided to check my phone again. Still nothing from Lauren. I sent her a quick text message telling her I was at work and thinking about her, wishing she’d come back to the house, that Caleb and I were on speaking terms, and had stopped throwing punches at each other.

Half an hour later I spotted a late night maniac going fifty-eight in the thirty-five mile an hour neighborhood I was watching. Show time. At least it'd give me something to do for a few minutes. I turned on my headlights and blue lights, and went after them.

The son of a bitch took his sweet ass time pulling over, but finally stopped, barely pulling off the side of the road. I called into dispatch with the license plate of the older model black Taurus, then grabbed my flashlight to head to the passenger side of the car. I didn't want to get ran the hell over in the dark.

The window rolled down, and I didn't bother with the bullshit of asking if he knew why I pulled him.

"You know you were speeding, so hand over your license and registration so we can get this over with," I told the driver, shining my light on him. He appeared to be a young white male in his early twenties. If I hadn’t been so distracted with Lauren, maybe he wouldn’t have caught me so off guard.

He said, "I don't think so," about the same time my flashlight landed on his gun.
Motherfucker.

I hit the ground, but not fast enough since I felt the impact and burn on my shoulder before his car sped off. Oh hell no. I stood up and ran my fingers over the spot where the bullet hit. I was bleeding pretty heavily, but it didn’t seem to have hit the artery. I jumped back in my cruiser, and notified dispatch to put out an APB on the Taurus, with a description of the driver.

Siren blaring, I took off, determined to find the fucker before he got away. I maintained sight of him, despite him turning his lights off, and taking several turns. I called in every move over the scanner to the responding vehicles. Several officers were on the way, and hopefully we'd all manage to box him in soon.

A few minutes later two units were set up, waiting a mile from our location with spike strips, and I was herding him their way. I prayed he wouldn't take any detours, but it was a safe bet he was heading toward them to try and lose me on the interstate. Too bad he didn't know he wasn't going to make it to the on ramp.

I watched as his taillights flared when he hit the strips. He tried to brake as his tires were ripped to shreds, and the rims began throwing showers of sparks. The two officers who deployed them were parked sideways across both lanes of the road in front of the entrance to a cement bridge with no shoulders, and only a hell of a drop off on each side. As soon as his car slowed he jumped out and ran for it.

I had slowed my car and pulled on the parking brake, then I took off on foot after the bastard. The darkness made it pretty difficult to see a damn thing, but I wasn't going to use my flashlight. It'd be like putting a spotlight on me for his bullets. I could hear the other two officers back up on the road, coming up behind me.

"Surrender or I will shoot!" I yelled at him. My shoulder was hurting like a son of a bitch, my body was still sore from Caleb's morning beating, and my lungs burned from running. Shit, I needed more cardio and to stay the fuck out of fights with my big ass friends.

Worrying when I couldn’t hear his footsteps in front of me anymore, I pulled up short, and that's when he fired from his spot behind a group of trees to my left. I felt fire spread up my leg as I hit the ground. He'd fucking shot me again. What the hell? Did he have a pair of night vision googles? And why did his shot always miss the freaking area of my heavy ass vest? Just my luck, but anywhere was better than a head shot.

I opened fire at his hiding spot with my Glock, and then waited for my hearing to come back, trying to figure out if I'd hit him. I saw flashlights coming toward me and called out to the other officers. I really didn't need to be shot a third time tonight, especially by friendly fire.
