Luca eased my ass cheeks apart and pressed his cock against my very tender anus. “I loved fucking you here.” He thrust gently against me. Not hard enough to penetrate, just enough to get my attention. Despite being sore and worn out, the pressure excited me. “Did you like it?”

“Yes.” I nodded, my movement loose and sloppy.

“Want to do it again?” He pushed a little harder, stretching me, but still not entering.

I shook my head, my teeth gritted against the sharp sting. “Not right now.”

“No?” He eased his hips back, disappointment clear in his voice. He slotted his cock between my legs. “But it felt good, right?”

“Yes, I liked it a lot.” I rocked with him, his cock sliding against my cunt with no intention of penetration. It was a sexy reminder of our very first time together when he held me against the wall and dry humped my ass as he fingered my clit. He made me watch as he brought me to orgasm. I looked down and saw the tip of his cock poking out between my legs and my arousal spiked. My cunt clenched with the sense memory.

“But you don’t want to do it again?”

“I do, but I can’t right now. Too sore.”

“Oh.” His body stilled. I pushed back against him, hoping to spurn him into motion again.

Luca’s voice, his sudden stiffness, betrayed the guilt I knew he felt any time our escapades left me a little wrecked. I struggled for a way to make him feel better. “I ran a half marathon once, in college.” I moved my hips against him. He cock was still responsive even if the rest of him was still. “And it felt amazing, but there was no way I could turn around and do another one right after.”

Luca kissed my shoulder, but still didn’t move.

“I went back to the same race the next spring.” I angled my body until I could look into his eyes. “Do you understand?”

Luca’s smile was not completely convincing, but his words took some of the pressure out of the room. “So I have to wait a year to tap your ass again?”

I rolled my eyes. Luca was an actuary. He should never say things like
tap your ass
. He just sounded ridiculous. “Maybe not a year.”

“Good.” Luca kissed me, his tongue working lazily inside my mouth. “That would be an absolute tragedy.”

He dropped to his knees and pressed a light kiss to my low back. He spread my cheeks and held them open, exposing me to the air and the random splash of water as it bounced off Luca’s body. He released me for a moment, only to return with a handful of body wash. He soaped my ass cheeks, massaging and kneading the flesh there, then he washed down my thighs and back up between my legs to my pussy. He carefully avoided my asshole until the very end. Then he pulled me apart and carefully washed. When he was done, he rinsed the soap away and pressed a careful kiss to my anus. My body jumped when his lips touched me. In spite of my brain saying it was a bad idea, my body responded loudly.

“Jesus.”

“This ass is too sweet to be ignored for a full year.” He pressed the tip of his tongue just inside the rim and swirled it carefully.

I came close to collapsing on top of him, but he held me firmly in place. “Luca, stop.” I reached around and grasped at his head. I tugged at his hair, but was unable to move him. “Damn it, I said no.”

He pressed in one last time, his tongue solid and arousing and unwanted all at once. Then he pulled away. My body slumped with relief and disappointment. No matter how much I wanted to please him, and no matter how good it felt at the time, I knew my body well enough to know it couldn’t take anymore. It irritated me that he wasn’t listening.

Luca stood and turned my body until I was facing him.

“Okay?” He asked with the right amount of sweet concern that I almost let it go. But I didn’t want to ever revisit a moment when Luca didn’t hear what I said about what I wanted during sex.

“We won’t be if you ignore me again.”

Luca stared at me intensely, searching for an answer in my face. I didn’t know the question or I would have just told him. Finally he nodded solemnly. “I’m sorry, Mari.”

I stretched up on my toes and pressed my palm flat against his cheek. I kissed him softly, hoping that he could feel my desire to go back to just having fun through the touch of our lips. In that moment, I really wanted to tell him I loved him. As it was, my “It’s okay” seemed flat as a reassurance.

Luca pulled me into a hug and held me there for several moments. “I only ever want to make you happy.”

I pulled out of his embrace and held his face in my hands. I stared into his eyes and said, “You do.”

He pushed my back against the wall and lifted my hips as he pulled my legs wide open to accommodate his body. He pushed his cock into me hard and fast, sinking in all the way and letting my weight settle on top of him. He didn’t wait, didn’t ease his pace gradually higher. He simply pounded into me with all his strength, driving me into the wall over and over. All I could do was hold onto his shoulders, wrap my legs around his waist, and simply let my body feel.

“I want you to come, Mari.” Luca issued his commands with a hint of solicitousness. I liked that he presented his desires and left it to my body to respond. And I always did. “I want you to come with my cock inside you and my name on your lips.” His words came out as a grunted, gasping plea as he continued to thrust inside me so hard that my cunt had no time to recover between entries. A constant building knot of tension flared within and threatened to consume me.

“Yes.” I nodded desperately, my hair falling into my eyes and draping over my face in wet, tangled cords.

“Now.” Luca’s legs quaked and his cock trembled inside me. I could feel him gathering tighter until he released, his body spasming. I rose up, embraced everything he offered, then tumbled into the abyss with him.

In my mind I called out his name, but I had no idea if it actually made it past my lips.

He collapsed against me, pressing me into the wall. His cock trembled, then slid out. I whimpered as I released him and he panted, his breath hot and uneven against my skin.

“I don’t know how you think I could ever grow tired of that.”

He gently released me and I cleaned my body again, this time much quicker than when Luca did it. The shower ended without me answering his question. I didn’t know how to explain my concerns any better than what I had already tried to say.

Chapter 8

Rachel made it to the office first on Monday morning, a rare occurrence. She smiled as she handed me a cup of coffee. “Go ahead. Ask me about my date.”

I accepted the coffee and took a drink before I said anything. “Good morning, Rachel. How was your date with Emily?”

She squealed, hugged her arms around her stomach, and twirled in a circle. “Perfect!”

I sipped more coffee and watched her. Even at the beginning, when I was so consumed by Luca that I couldn’t do anything without thinking about him, I never acted like a squee girl. On her, though, it seemed to work.

Finally she twirled herself out and sat in the chair opposite my desk.

“I spent all weekend with her. She dropped me off here this morning.”

“Are you officially a lesbian now?”

“What would you say if I was?”

“I don’t know. Congratulations, maybe?” I’d love her no matter what. And who was I to judge what other people do in bed?

She sobered and looked at me with a grave expression. “I’m serious, Mari, would it bother you?”

“Of course not. If you find someone to make you happy, then that makes me happy.”

She smiled. “Good. But, for the record, I don’t think I am. I don’t even know that I’m going to see Emily again. But this weekend was incredibly liberating and I’m not sure how much of that is because of her or how much is just me experiencing life in a different way. Maybe both.”

Rachel sounded so level-headed that it made me worry. A second ago, she was squealing and twirling, now she was all rational. It didn’t work for me.

“What does she think?” I asked.

“Emily?”

I nodded. I’d hate to have to bitch slap a former client, but I totally would if she was playing with Rachel.

“She likes me. Too much, maybe, and I know I’m not renting a U-Haul any time soon.”

“What does that even mean?”

“Apparently that's a big lesbian joke. They move in together on, like, date number two. So they, you know, rent a U-Haul.”

Thank God Rachel was suddenly qualified to translate lesbian vernacular. Not that I needed that knowledge prior to her weekend in Sapphicland.

“You know Luca wants to set you up with his friend, Richard.”

“Richard? The guy you abandoned me with that one night?” Rachel referred to the night she and I met him. Luca had brought him along as a surprise for me. His plan was for the three of us to go to a hotel together because Luca wanted to watch us together. I blew his plans to hell when I brought Rachel along as back up because I still wasn’t sure where our relationship was going at that point. That night, Luca and I acknowledged that, despite my best efforts to the contrary, we had feelings for each other. In the end, Luca and I went home alone together and left Rachel and Richard at the bar. Looking back on it, maybe that was a little shitty.

“That’s the one.”

“He’s hot.” Rachel got a far away, dreamy look on her face, confirming that the straight part of her libido was alive and well. “But his name is Richard.”

“So what?”

“Your baby brother’s name is Ricardo. It’s too close. I couldn’t even imagine yelling out Richard, or God forbid, Ricky during sex. Ick.”

She had a good point. If I thought about it very long, it would creep me out, too.

“Maybe he has a nickname.”

“I could give him one if he doesn’t.” Rachel smiled. Problem solved.

“What about Emily?”

“We had one date. It’s not like we’re engaged.”

Rachel’s back and forth was giving me whiplash. Had I been that bad when I started seeing Luca? Completely enraptured and just as completely in denial? Hell, who was I kidding? I was still like that. Rachel deserved mad props for listening to me vacillate. “What happened to life changing?”

“Oh, it definitely was. I came for days.” Rachel’s blush made it hard for her to pull off the brazen hussy routine.

“I told Luca, by the way. He said he’s not surprised.”

“Why? Do I look like a lesbian?” Rachel looked offended. Funny, considering she’d spent the weekend in bed with a woman.

“No. His observation had more to do with my skills at oral than your woman-loving appearance.”

She laughed. “He’s not wrong about that.”

“So, what should I tell Luca about Richard?”

She got up. It was past time for us to get started on the day. She paused at the door. “What the hell? Tell him to set it up.”

She headed to the kitchen prep area and I pulled up our company email. The weekend was officially over. It was time to get down to business. Too bad I couldn’t turn off my thoughts about Luca when he dropped me off on Sundays. That would make this whole relationship that much easier.

The doorbell and the microwave both sounded at the same time. When given a choice between food and opening the door to an unknown person, I will choose food every time. I pulled my dinner from the microwave, leftover pasta with red sauce from a function we’d catered earlier in the week. My dinner may come from the microwave ninety-eight percent of the time, but at least the vast majority of it was handmade by either me or Rachel.

I debated between a glass of chardonnay and a glass of water. Wednesdays were especially rough for some reason. By the midpoint of the week, business had officially blown up and we were scrambling to tie up any loose ends in terms of paper work from Monday and Tuesday, and gearing up for Thursday and Friday. Thank God we’d tapped the business market early in our careers, or we’d still have the angst of weekend weddings to contend with.

I settled on water and was about to start my meal when the doorbell rang again. Any sales person that persistent deserved to hear me say no in person. Dinner could wait.

“Hello, Mari.” Luca stood on my doorstep with a small overnight bag at his feet. “May I come in?”

I stepped out of the way, too confused to do anything but comply. Luca paused to kiss my cheek on his way inside. I closed the door and threw the deadbolt before turning to address him. He’d set his bag next to my coffee table and was in the kitchen inspecting my dinner.

“Are you hungry?”

“No, I ate on the way over.” He pulled my chair out and held it for me.

I waited until we were both seated to ask, “What’s going on?”

“I wanted to see you.” He motioned for me to eat.

I took a careful bite and tried to sort out what his sudden arrival could mean. “Is everything okay?”

“I’m fine.”

I set my fork on the edge of my plate. Clearly there was a conversation brewing. At the moment, it was more interesting than the food. “But it’s Wednesday.”

He sighed. “I thought we could wait to talk until after you finish your dinner.”

“I’d rather not.” As a concession, I took another bite of pasta.

Luca nodded thoughtfully, then stood. “I’ll be right back.” He returned with a small package in his hand. He set it on the table. The box was wrapped in shiny red paper with a velvet red bow on top that was rumpled and tilted to the side.

“What’s that?” I loved presents, but this one scared the crap out of me.
Please don’t let it be a ring
.

“I thought about what you said.” He took my hand and rubbed his thumb over the back. “About how our relationship doesn’t feel real to you, like it’s a break from your life rather than a part of it. I haven’t been able to think about anything else.”

I took another bite because the look in Luca’s eyes was super intense and I didn’t know what else to do.

“So, here I am, asking to be a part of your life.”

“What does that mean?”

“I’d like it to mean that we’re not limited to weekends, that if I want to see you on Wednesday, I can show up with my overnight bag and spend the night in your bed because the thought of doing anything other than holding you is just too impossible to consider.”
