Beautiful Rose (24 page)

Keep in touch, Jack. You have my number. I’d love to hear from you.

Luke.

I read the email over and over, each time creating more and more emotion. I closed the laptop and lay down on the sofa, staring at the ceiling. Belle had been my first love. She had taught me so much about myself, even in death. The bond we’d shared would always be there, even with the life I was about to create with Rose. And that was okay. Losing Belle didn’t mean I had to stop living. I think I was finally believing that.

After a lot of thought, I’d decided not to tell Alex about finding our mother. If he wanted to find her he would have looked himself, and I wasn’t ready to speak to her yet. Nineteen years had gone by and she had never attempted contacting us. She had a new family—A new life. Just like I was about to start mine.

THE END.

“You know Alex,” Darcy began. I glanced at her, dreading what was about to come out of her mouth. “Rose and I were talking, I have a great friend we think would be perfect for you.” She shot a look sideways at Rose, who was smiling at me.

“Last time it was no, and guess what? It’s no this time.” I sighed, and threw my cards onto the table. “If I wanted a girlfriend, trust me, I’d have one.” I had no idea what it was with her and Rose, and their constant need to fix up people. This had been going on for months.

Of course, telling them about Mila would put an end to all that, but I wasn’t ready to share her just yet…not even with Jack.

“For fucks sake, leave the poor guy alone!” Jack said, smirking. “He’s related to me. We never have any trouble picking up chicks.” His grin faltered as Rose glared at him. I chuckled, happy to see him in trouble for once.

“Besides,” Jack smirked, raising his eyebrows, “I hear there is a hot blonde getting out of prison next month who might be on the look-out for a man to keep her in line.”

I snorted, my mouthful of beer almost shooting across the table. “Harmony? Man, I’d never go there. Like…
ever
.”

Rose and Jack had been together for over six months now. She brought out a side to him that had been kept well hidden for too long. Likewise, Jack did a lot for Rose. Though I wasn’t her therapist anymore, we still talked. A lot. She was still getting help for her PTSD, and slowly things were progressing forward.

“Well, I didn’t mean me, obviously. I don’t need to pick up when I have the most amazing, sexy girlfriend right here,” he leaned over to her, nuzzling gently on her neck. The rest of us groaned.

“Alright, and I’m out.” I stood up and threw on my jacket. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” I said to Jack. “Night everyone.”

As I walked to my car, I texted Mila to say I was on my way. Eventually, I’d need to tell Jack, but for now, I was happy that she was my little secret. It had absolutely
nothing
with the fact that I was terrified of his reaction.

Nothing at all to do with that.

Have you read
Seduce
(Beautiful Rose 0.5)?

Twenty-five year old Jack Falcon doesn’t do relationships, and why would he when he has woman after woman literally throwing themselves at him? For Jack, life is perfect just the way it is. He works hard and he plays harder.
Jack’s life changes when he meets Belle. Unlike any woman he’s ever met, there is something about this girl that makes him unable to keep away, something beyond the youthful beauty and her innocent spirit. Belle is strong and independent, a big leap from the usual brainless women he tends to attract.
Jack begins a dangerous game. He is determined to seduce Belle, and without realizing it, his feelings for her develop beyond anything he has ever felt before. Things become complicated when he learns there are good reasons as to why he should stay the hell away from her.
How can you stay away from someone you want to spend every waking minute with? And what do you do when you know eventually you will destroy that person?
As their feelings for each other deepen, Jack struggles with his own internal demons which threaten to rip them apart. Jack is torn between following his heart and listening to his head, which keeps telling him he is not good enough for her. She deserves better than what he can give her.
How far will he push before they both fall over the edge?

By Amy Queau

“…This is a MUST READ series!” –Jessica’s Book Review

“…Progress was heart breaking, devastating, and so real.” –Divas BookBlog

“…FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER I CHOOSE A SIDE. I think Charlie should be with Samuel. But I have to wait for book 3 to find out.” –Reality Bites Let’s Get Lost

“… My heart is still racing. It was an emotional roller coaster that will have you screaming at the characters as you face their ups and downs.” –Author Beth Rinyu

“…I loved how the majority of Progress focused on their friendship. Don’t get me wrong; I love epic love stories where the characters fall madly in love two seconds into the novel, but this was different, and in a refreshing way.” – Author Kaitlyn Oruska

Progress (Progress #1) Synopsis

He is exactly what she needs. But how far into his mind is she willing to go? Jesse has a curious attraction to Charlie, a hostess at the restaurant where he works. Outwardly he’s rude, awkward and unapproachable. But his sudden bursts of charm are inescapable. A devastating childhood filled with physical and emotional abuse have left him complex and frigid. Charlie, an innocent, is quickly mystified. Her craving for him generates an infatuation and a purpose. Losing weight and gaining confidence, she begins taking more risks. She defies her past, damaged and tender, in order to move ahead. If nobody makes the first move then nobody gets hurt. Their journeys take them down parallel paths which leave them just as emotionally unmatched and conflicted as the day they met. As the story progresses the viewpoints change, giving the reader an insight to the character’s thoughts and feelings.

“…The author, Amy Queau knows how to tell a story like no one else. These characters felt REAL, the story felt REAL, the ending was REAL.” –Review of Rewired

The first two books in the Progress series by Amy Queau are now available, exclusive to Amazon.com. The third and final book in this series, Rewired, has an expected release date of November 29, 2013.
