“Davidson has buggered nearly every ass on this ship,” the captain added. “Oh, he doesn’t know I know, but I do. You aren’t the first, nor will you be the last, I’m sure.”

Kaden glanced up, shocked. Had he just been another notch in Davidson’s extra-long belt? And Kaden could lose everything for a man who’d only wanted to pluck another green sailor. Anger riled through him as he considered what he’d just given up. “Sir, if I may?”

“Of course.”

“How can you let him continue mowing through new recruits?” Kaden asked. “If you know he’s doing it, then he needs to be stopped.”

The captain leaned forward, resting his elbows on the top of his desk. “The few who have come to me over the years refused to bring him up on charges, afraid that they could lose their commission or the respect of Central Command. Even finding you naked isn’t enough. Unless I walk in on him in the act, or I get a willing sailor to help stop him, my hands are tied.”

Kaden thought about it for a moment, knowing he wasn’t ready to retire from the navy before he’d barely got started. He couldn’t risk his entire career on the man. And it wasn’t like he hadn’t been a willing participant in their tryst. “What happens to me now?”

“Typically, you’d have your ass handed to you and kicked out of the navy considering your lack of time served. But fortunately for you, you have a skill at piloting I haven’t seen in years. That incredible turn at piloting us into that soft crash, saving every life on board, will not go unnoticed when the investigation asks for my report. It may not be enough, but I’d say you’ll just find yourself sent to the shittiest detail known to man. There you can prove yourself and potentially worm your way back up.”

“And Davidson?” Kaden asked, anger rippling through him.

“Davidson can’t come out of this unscathed. He’ll have to account for why he locked the bridge, ignored an alarm, and was found with a naked ensign who’d apparently had his rocks tossed. But it won’t be enough to do any real damage to him without you standing up to him.”

Kaden grimaced. If he said a word, coupled with this fiasco, he could be kicked out. He’d wanted to pilot a Federated starship since he was a boy, and he wasn’t ready to give up his dreams just yet. But if he didn’t say anything, Davidson was left to fuck his way through the ship.

Davidson hadn’t forced Kaden into anything; he’d been a willing partner in what they’d done. Kaden had allowed Carter Davidson to ruin his naval career in the matter of a couple of hours.
