Lincoln's journey with multiple sclerosis is very similar to the journey I began with this disease back in 2002, when the disease presented itself with an optic neuritis in my left eye. Lincoln's story was very important for me to tell. Although deeply personal, I wanted to put a face to MS and show how it is possible to live a full life while managing a chronic disease. No two cases of MS are the same, but we do share a lot of the same symptoms which we live with and manage on a daily basis. There's a saying in the MS community that I feel encapsulates the best way to live with this disease.

“I have MS, but MS doesn't have me.”

Ann Lister
is a native New Englander currently living on the island of Martha's Vineyard with her husband. She has pulled details from her years living in the New England area and uses many local settings and landmarks in her novels.
