Epilogue

A year later…

When I got out the hospital that week after my experience with Ben, I decided to swing past Dominion and to my surprise the place was empty and closed. I was saddened by this but I really didn’t expect to find Devon here after everything.

I gave my two weeks’ notice at the restaurant. Amber was sad to see me go, and so was Johnny. They come to visit my mom and me here in Syracuse once every few months. We sometimes go to the mall, or the movies but I was glad I had friends for life, and distance doesn’t change that all.

It’s a different lifestyle then what I was used to. My mom was doing great and she was finally divorced from Ben. They granted her the divorce since Ben was never found and so he couldn’t appear in court. She has started dating again but is taking things slow this time around. I actually like the new guy she is seeing. He is a professor at a Community College here and teaches Criminal Justice. She has been clean and sober since she knocked on my bedroom door back at the New York City apartment that Birthday morning. She had kept her promise.

I started college; I am in my second year. I also worked full time. I wouldn’t change what happened to me on my eighteenth birthday for anything. That night, getting that dragon tattoo actually saved my life. I don’t even know where I would be right now. Even though I really miss Liam with all of my heart, I know he is still there. Not physically, but for some reason we are connected mentally. It’s like he can feel what I feel. Want to know how I know this? Because when I am sad, my ruby pendant turns blue. Reminding me of how his eyes used to turn blue when his dragon heart was beating because of the love he had for me.

There is not a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. But Liam taught me what no man will ever teach me. My dragon, my protector showed me I was worth more than life, and jewels itself. He taught me that I was valuable and I have a place in this world just like everyone else. I will never forget him. Next time you walk into a tattoo shop to get some ink done, and the guy who is doing it is named Devon, just know your life is about to change and it will never be the same again.

The End…For now

Acknowledgements

First and foremost I want to thank my family; my Parents who always push me in the right direction when I needed a little shove. They have always supported me in everything. They have loved me unconditionally and were there for me when I needed them the most. My Daughters Leannette and Briannette, they are the only reason this story even happened. I wanted to show them that in life, anything is possible. My sister Annette has been the best role model for me, and she always made sure I never gave up. I also want to say thank you to my brother John, and Uncle Johnny for dealing with me even when I got on their nerves. They were a tremendous help to me with my daughters, when I was busy writing my life away.

Kristin Pittman, Brianne Whitmire, Nicole Hammond, Fiona Wilson, Amanda Heath, Iris Ramos and Crystal Wright thank you! Thank you for always being the best of friends a girl could ask for, and of course for our amazing talks. When I had questions or asked for advice, you ladies always helped me, with no hesitation. For the fun times when we stayed up late talking and laughing till our stomachs hurt. Love y’all…

To Charity-Jaryd Costa and Michelle Olson for pushing me to accomplish my dreams, if it wasn’t for you ladies I would have never started up the face book page “I heart Books”, which then, lead me to write. So thank you, for believing in me.

I want to give a huge thank you to Authors, and of course my really amazing friends; Cindy LaRosa, Tiffany Carmouche, Shanora Williams, Milly Taiden, Victoria Bright and Rochelle Guzman.
