When I exit the club it’s raining, and by raining I mean pouring. I stand on the sidewalk, silently cursing every taxicab that speeds by. It seems all the cabs are taken for the night. The night is cold and my nipples are now cold, hard, and in pain.
Fuck, I forgot my dress coat.
I turn to go back into the club to retrieve it, and I smack face-first into
him.

“Let me take you home,” Nicholas says.

I look up to find him getting just as wet as me. He holds a coat over his head as he approaches. Fuck me, he still looks gorgeous, and I can’t think of a moment where I’ve hated him more. Where I’ve wanted him to fuck me more…His tight-fitting shirt hugs him, and beneath the cotton I can see his perfectly sculpted abs. His hair looks longer wet, and it’s still a bit tousled from the scuffle. How can he be so goddamn annoying and yet so irresistibly fuckable?

“Don’t be stubborn,” he says curtly. “I told Ken I would take you home.”

Shit, Ken. I wonder if he saw everything? I didn’t even bother to say goodbye. I just ran out. I’m such a bitch.

“Just leave me alone.” I turn back to street, hoping a taxi will finally stop before the heavy rain washes me away.

“You’re the most stubborn woman I have ever met,” I mutter under my breath. “You’re going to catch pneumonia.”

“I clearly said fuck off, Nicholas.”

I don’t take no for answer. I pull her to me, crushing her body against my frame. She looks up, watching drops of rain drip from my hair, down my lips, and to the ground. I fling my jacket down. I don’t even give a shit if it gets ruined. I just want her in my arms. I need her.

“It drove me crazy,” I say, tugging her hair loose from its band. Rebecca’s curls cascade down in one swift motion. She watches me as I take a single strand, pull it between my fingers, and then watch it spring back. I smile, amused by the simple motion of her hair.

“Even your hair defies me,” I whisper, staring at her lips.

“What?” she asks.

“I loathed watching him kiss you. Watching him touch you,” I say, stepping closer as I cup her face. “I wanted it to be me. Only me..."

She gasps at the feel of my erection sliding against her.

“Don’t you remember?" I say, nibbling her bottom lip. I trail hot kisses up to her ear. “You’re mine.”

I lift her and push her back against a nearby brick wall. I pull her panties off and they fall to the gritty ground. Before she can protest, I hush her with my lips. “I’ll buy you twenty more where that came from.”

She moans against me as I grind into her. She pushes her hips to meet mine and it sends a rush of heat through me. It would be so easy to fuck her here. It would feel so good. “I think we should move this somewhere else.” I grab her hand and move it to the bulge in my pants. I’m rock hard for her. I growl as Rebecca rubs her hand up and down the front of my pants.

“If you keep doing that, I’m going to take you right here against this wall or over that trash can,” I say, nodding to a nearby alley.

“Yes,” she pleads

“You little vixen,” I chuckle. “Don’t tempt me.”

Nicholas hails a cab, and together we step inside. He doesn’t ask if I should go with him, and I don’t say anything. We just get in and he gives the driver Carol and my apartment address. When we finally arrive, it’s a little after ten. I’m sure Carol will be surprised to see me home so early.

We step out of the cab and Nicholas hands the driver a hundred dollar bill and tells him to keep the change. The neighborhood around us is dark, with the exception of the flickering street lights flashing down from each lamppost. It’s still raining, but at this point it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m already soaked through, and so is Nicholas. I’m actually surprised the cab driver didn’t charge us an extra fifty just for soaking his seats.

Nicholas grabs my hand and we walk in silence toward the apartment. I don’t know what we’re doing, but somehow his fingers entwined with mine feels right. He stops me just before we get to the front entrance of the apartment complex and leans in to kiss me. The kiss is soft and slow, and so very different from other times we’ve found ourselves in each other’s arms.

“Rebecca –” he says, pulling back.

“Please don’t say anything,” I ask, pushing my fingers to his lips. “Just kiss me and let’s say goodnight.”

Nicholas leans in and captures my lips in a heated rush. I run my fingers through his hair and he growls in appreciation as he grabs a handful of my ass. It takes us several minutes to pull apart, but when we finally do, he wraps his coat around me.

“Goodnight, Ms. Gellar.”

My heart flip-flops at the way he says it. I’ve only ever heard him say it when he’s mad or when he’s telling me what to do, but I like the way it sounds when he’s happy.

After a long, dramatic night, the only thing I want is to drift into sleep and dream about a world where things aren’t so complicated. I’m halfway down the long corridor to our apartment when a familiar voice from behind stops me.

“You look good, Becca.”

It takes me a moment to put my finger on the familiar but condescending tone. I turn to face him and gasp at the sight of his tanned, brawny face and brilliant smile. The one person I thought I would never ever see again.
