“JT, where’s the fire?” his uncle asked when he ran past Grandpa, Thom, and Dru in the living room.

“Bringing carrots to the bunnies. Skye gave them to me!” he called out and continued on his way to his bunnies.

The bunnies were nice. They lived here at Grandma and Grandpa’s house because JT and his mom lived in the city, but he saw them every weekend.

He had given the carrots to the bunnies and was filling their water bottles from the hose at the side of the house when he saw Dru, Skye, and Thom step out the kitchen door. Quietly, JT stepped behind Grandma’s rosebushes and peeked out. He wasn’t supposed to be there, because Grandpa had told him he shouldn’t open the faucet by himself, even though he could because he was a big boy now and he wanted to take care of his bunnies alone.

“Everything okay, babe?” he heard Uncle Thom ask as both he and Dru stepped close to Skye, one on each side like they were protecting him from something.

“Yeah… still a bit overwhelming, you know,” Skye said, and Thom nodded, pressing a kiss against Skye’s temple.

“Do you think your mom has figured it out?” Dru asked Thom, who sighed and shrugged.

“I don’t really know. Maybe, but she hasn’t said anything yet. I think she sees how happy we are, you know? That we’re working on things.”

“She’s very perceptive,” Skye said, and the other two nodded.

JT blinked a little when Dru leaned in and kissed Skye on the lips and then kissed Uncle Thom too. And then, then Uncle Thom kissed Skye! But…. It wasn’t that JT hadn’t seen Uncle Thom and Dru kiss before; they were boyfriends, but Skye? Was Skye their boyfriend too?

Quietly, JT sneaked to the back of the house and went to take the water bottles to his bunnies.

That evening, when Laura was putting her son to bed, she was asked two questions she had never imagined hearing from her four-year-old son.

“Mom, can three people be each other’s boyfriends at the same time? When we go to the park next time, will Uncle Thom and Dru and Skye kiss each other there too like they did at Grandma’s house?”

Tia Fielding
lives in a peaceful little town in a small country in northern Europe. She loves nature, her horses, cats, and even the yappy little thing that occasionally gets called a dog. Tia learned to read before she went to school at the age six and began writing as soon as she figured she had stories to tell around the mature age of seven. Stories about horses, adventures, and ghosts might have turned into hot GLBTQ-romance, but she still has a wicked imagination and, hopefully, more stories to tell.
