Epilogue

One year later

Allison stepped back and admired the sign. The small studio wasn’t much to look at yet, but it was hers. Classes would start Monday, and there were already waiting lists. The money from the dance competition was just enough for a small place near her apartment. The rest of the money for equipment had come from Nate as a graduation present.

Nate poked his head around the corner. “Hey, Allison, could you come and tell us if this looks okay?”

“I’m sure it’s fine.” She followed him into one of the classrooms where he and Eddie had been hanging a bar for the ballet classes. “It looks good. Make sure it’s sturdy. We don’t want it falling off the wall on the first day.”

Nate kissed her on the cheek. “We double and triple checked.”

“Is everything else ready?”

Nate pulled out the clipboard. “Unless other items have secretly added themselves to the list, we’re ready to go. Relax.”

Sam walked up with a half-eaten cupcake. “I had to taste test to make sure it was all okay. I highly approve.”

“I’m pretty sure you already tested them last night at the apartment.” Allison laughed. She took one last glance around the studio before turning off the light.

Nate wrapped his arm around her. “Let’s go home. I have a delicious pasta planned for tonight.”

“Sounds good to me.” As they walked up to his apartment, Allison enjoyed the smells of the blossoming trees along the sidewalk. “This is the perfect night. It’s warm, the stars are out, and tomorrow I open my very own studio.”

“I can think of something that would make it a little more perfect.” Nate smiled over at her.

“Oh? And what’s that?”

Nate got down on one knee and pulled out a box. Inside sat a large diamond ring. “Having you for my wife.”
