Kiss Mommy,” Jason murmured, sauntering my way. “What kind of kiss? A big, movie-star kiss? Or a gentle princess kiss?”

“Princess kiss!” Anna exclaimed.

“Kiss Joplin!” Leo countered.

I tilted my face up to his, smiling as the early evening sun streamed through the windows. “Hey, Boss.”

“Hey, Brew.”

“I’m supposed to kiss you.”

“So I hear.” I glanced down at our twins; Anna held her hands clasped at her heart, watching us excitedly, and Leo buried his face in Joplin’s fur, groaning.

“W
hat kind of kiss do you want?” he asked, brushing my hair out of my eyes.

I smiled, warming to his touch.
“What kind of kiss do I want…,” I considered, sighing deeply. “Hmm. I’d like our first kiss again. It was very PG. Appropriate for our audience.”

He removed his sunglasses, and I lost myself in his sky-blue gaze.

“First kiss it is.” He took my face in his hands, brushing his thumb over my lower lip. “If I remember correctly, you tasted like cotton candy. And you shut your eyes.”

I let my eyes flutter closed, tilting my face slightly. “They’re shut.”

His mouth pressed to mine, capturing my bottom lip ever so slightly, stealing my breath.

I opened my tear-brightened eyes.

“I love you, Mrs. Brewer,” he whispered softly.


I love you, Mr. Brewer.

“And they lived happily,” Anna said, skipping through the kitchen, “ever,” she twirled, letting her sundress flair out at her sides, “after.
