"Garrett?" Christie's eyes were two deep pools of liquid turquoise.
''Yes, love?" he breathed, nibbling her bare, creamy shoulder.
"Do you think, this time, we could make a girl baby?"
Garrett grinned roguishly down at her, but his eyes were deeply tender, and his voice, softly loving. "Why, love, what strangely forward words to be coming~from the lips of a virgin!"
Christie's eyes widened and she looked down at the torn riding habit. Then she smiled at him with adoration, understanding his meaning.
"Then, this is to be the first time?" she softly questioned.
"The first time," answered Garrett, his voice husky with feeling, "as it should have been—and as it will be with us—for all time."
And as he carried her to the bunk and their bodies fused, each knew the things which had come to keep them apart would come no more, and this new beginning would see their hearts fused and their love strong and whole—for all time.
