Jane Austen’s
Pride and Prejudice
is one of the most beloved novels of our time, transcending the literary world to earn a spot on every woman’s nightstand. Now,
Flirting with Pride and Prejudice
takes a fresh and humorous look at Austen’s classic tale of looking for Mr. Right, marrying rich and finding true love in the process.

More than just a high school drama,
Veronica Mars
is a smart and savvy teen detective show that offers complex mysteries and rapier wit, engaging social commentary, and noir sensibilities—with the occasional murder thrown in for good measure. This collection, edited by the creator and executive producer of the show, offers supreme insight into the class struggles and love stories of the series.

Speculating about the cultural metaphors in Janet Evanovich’s wildly popular mystery series (which includes 11 books), this anthology takes a look at lingerie-buyer-turned-bounty-hunter Stephanie Plum and catalogs her bad luck with cars (she’s blown up quite a few), her good luck with men, her unorthodox approach to weapon storage, and the rich tapestry of her milieu: Trenton, New Jersey, also known as The Burg.

The 2005-2006 season’s smash hit
Grey’s Anatomy
swiftly eclipsed its
Desperate Housewives
lead-in, in ratings, in critical claim, and in vocal viewer enthusiasm. What could have been just another hospital drama is elevated by sharp, clever writing, strong female characters, and a stellar ensemble cast of multi-ethnic actors. With 20+ million viewers tuning in every week,
Grey’s Anatomy
was the new must-see television show of the year. From lighthearted relationship speculations to analyses of deeper themes,
Grey’s Anatomy 101
gives new perspectives on all facets of the series.

After spending any length of time with Emily Gilmore, wouldn’t you need to?

Hollywood portrayed the supporting cast of
The Andy Griffith Show
as a collection of eccentrics and laconic goofballs, all mildly stereotyped along the lines of Yankee preconceptions about Southern/hillbilly clichés. It’s interesting to see the residents of Stars Hollow and Lorelai’s upper crust parents being similarly exaggerated and burlesqued according to the provincial Yankee myths and stereotypes, implying that “north” and “south” are not so different when it comes to inbred regional habits.

Does Lorelai really want to force her daughter to live according to Lorelai’s tastes and rules? Is she so egotistical that she thinks she has the right to impose her ideas and lifestyle choices onto anyone else, including her own daughter? Where does a mother end and a daughter begin? These are the same unreconciled problems that drove a wedge between Lorelai and her own mom.
