“Sure thing. Just give us a few to finish the last window and sweep, then we’ll head out; be there in a couple of hours.”

“Thanks man. Give me a call when you're close and I’ll meet you outside the main entrance.”
After ending the call, Rafe tapped on Kaylie’s door before stepping inside. “Hey, Kaylie. I’m glad to see you’re okay, and congratulations. Listen, I called Cal and they’re king to come down and pick me up so you can have your truck. I don’t figure you’re going to head back up the hill tonight…”

Drake looked at Kaylie before shaking his head, “No, I think I’m going to stay here tonight, but I appreciate you thinking about that.”

“Drake, man, you know I’ll do what I can to help. I figured you’d want some privacy once Kaylie gets released.”
Rafe looked at Kaylie before walking over to her. “I wish we’d have gotten there quicker for you.”
He leaned over and brushed a kiss on her forehead before stepping back and looking back at Drake and offering his hand. I’ll see you two tomorrow at the cabin. Don’t worry about Jenny, She’s good with me tonight.”
Turning back to wave goodbye to Kaylie, he noticed her eyes glistening before he turned and walked out the door.

It was the next evening before Drake and Kaylie were finally pulling up to Drakes cabin. Putting the truck in park, they sat in silence as they looked at the repairs that the guys had done for him, taking in the wooden windows and the cleaned up porch and yard surrounding the house.

Drake reached over and took her hand in his, “Are you ready for this, Sweetheart?”

Kaylie turned her face from the window where she’d been looking at the repairs to look at Drake. “With you? Absolutely.”

Drake got out of the truck and rounded the front to open the door for Kaylie before picking her up out of the truck and carrying her to the door where he handed her the key for her to unlock it. Carrying her over the threshold, he stopped inside the room before closing the door behind them. They both looked around the room to see that the guys had been very busy cleaning up any evidence of the past twenty-four hours.

Kaylie was shaking her head in amazement before looking at Drake. She took his face in her hands and laid her lips on his before smiling.

“Welcome home, Sweetheart.”
