Chapter 25

The next day rolled into the next, then before she knew it, her first week with Dax had flashed by. Effie spent most nights at Dax’s. They finished the final revisions on the logos and Dax sent them out to his webmaster and the printers. Tiger Mountain Winery was official. He was even working on changing all the business names over to be a subsidiary of Hayes Family Winery.

Effie was blissed out. Hot sex and a totally attentive boyfriend. He hadn’t lied, his favorite game seemed to be sneaking up on her and fingering her to orgasm, then licking his fingers as he walked away. Sexy weirdo.

Dax had even paid her, including her bonus. She and Cassie were planning a car hunting trip with a side of apartment hunting too. They both agreed that working wheels was the first priority. The idea of moving had them both getting nostalgic. Their place was bad, but they’d made it into a home.

Effie was firm when Dax tried to get her to bring clothes to his house. She knew he was just trying to establish her into his life. But she didn’t want to leave Cassie all by herself. She felt bad that she was there so much alone, especially at night.

The guys at the shop were great and were picking her up if she was working after hours. But Effie still needed her bestie, so she made sure she was home in the mornings after Dax left for work.

“Should we go car shopping today or eat pizza rolls on the couch?” Cassie called out from her bedroom.

Effie was sitting at her desk finishing up a few online logo jobs. “Car shopping is so daunting. I don’t want crazy Larry or whatever pushing me to buy another junker.” She also had no idea about cars. She bought what she could afford, plain and simple.

“We could eat pizza rolls and talk about cars,” Cass offered. “Or we could sit and moon over your dreamy boyfriend. Who by the way, is making this place look practically livable,” she snorted.

Effie looked around and took in the half dozen vases of flowers that Dax had delivered. Bright colors, all different, one came every day. It was too much and over the top, but she secretly loved it. She also spied the bouquet of candy that had looked amazing before Cass tore into it. Well, she’d helped a little.

“Hmm, let’s hit the internet and look at cars again. I don’t want to walk blindly onto a lot. We’d look like fresh meat,” Effie said and Cass knew she was right.

Both girls plopped down on the couch and Effie started flipping through channels until she found an infomercial for a countertop griller. Cool, she thought, dropping the remote. Their door buzzer rang loudly and Cassie laughed. “Must be the flowers! I’ll get it,” she said hopping up.

Effie couldn’t help but smile, damn he was sweet.

“Delivery for Ms. Effie Parks,” the voice came crackling over the speaker.

“Bring it on up!” Cass called back.

The voice hesitated for a few seconds then said, “Uh, I can’t bring this upstairs, ma’am.”

“Ma’am?” Cassie laughed at Effie.

“We’ll be right down,” she responded to the voice. “I’m not going alone sister, get your booty up and come with me, yoga pants or not,” she said, eyeballing her outfit.

“Rude,” Effie whispered and stuck her tongue out at her friend.

Both girls tossed on shoes and headed down to the street.

Standing on the curb was a man in a jumpsuit holding a clipboard. Behind him was a tow truck, the kind that was a flatbed, not the hook style. On it was a cherry red, two-door car that looked hella expensive, that Effie didn’t recognize.

“Uh, is there a problem, sir?” Effie asked, totally confused.

“Are you Effie Parks?” he asked formally.

“Yes,” she said, not sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

“Do you have ID please?” the man asked. Effie figured he looked official enough to offer up her license.

Cass volunteered to run up and grab it for her. The man and Effie stood and stared at each other awkwardly while they waited. Cassie made it back in record time and handed the license over to the man. He looked it over carefully, then handed it back.

“Where do you want it?” he asked.

“Want what?” Effie asked annoyed.

“The coupe,” he replied like it was obvious.

“What the heck is a coupe?” she asked, throwing her hands in the air.

The man looked at her with that ‘woman’ look and a sigh, then explained, gesturing over his shoulder. “That is a 2015 Nissan coupe. It was purchased by a Mr. Hayes. I was instructed to deliver it to this address to a Ms. Effie Parks. My instructions were very clear. And I was not to accept a refusal.”

“A car! He sent me a freaking car,” Effie yelped, looking at Cass who was giving her the bug eyes.

“Dude, he sent you a car,” Cass whispered.

“I can’t accept this! Flowers are one thing, a car is not flowers!” Effie felt like she was going to hyperventilate. This was crazy, people didn’t give other people a car after a week. Granted it was a really good week, but that was not the point.

“I was instructed to tell you if you refused the delivery,” the man paused looking down at his clipboard then sighing and rolling his eyes to the heavens before saying, “No backsies.”

Seeing the disgruntled delivery man say that had Effie bursting out in laughter. Cassie followed suit and they were both standing on the sidewalk holding their sides, while tears poured down their faces.

“Seriously ma’am, where can I put it? I can’t take it back, it’s yours, as soon as you sign on the dotted line. I’ve also been instructed if you like, to remove your old car for you.”

Effie was wiping the tears away from her face, then she took mercy on the poor man and held her hand out for the clipboard. She quickly signed her name and the man moved to slowly lower the shiny, sexy car to the ground.

Effie and Cassie rushed over to her old car and grabbed her few belongings out of it. In this neighborhood it was never safe to leave anything inside your car so there wasn’t much for her to grab.

Once the new car was off the truck, the man handed her the key fob and took her old set from her. Effie made sure to grab her skull and crossbones keychain off the ring before handing them over.

Both girls stood staring at the car looking like a mirage right in the middle of their neighborhood. Even Mr. Barnes came out of the diner to give the car a slow whistle.

“Can I have your boyfriend too?” Cass whispered to her.

“This is nuts,” Effie replied.

“Awesome nuts,” Cass looked at her wryly.

“Is he trying to buy me?” Effie hated to ask it, but her inner doubt monster was trying really hard to get a foot in the door.

“Would you still be seeing him and sleeping at his house every night without the car,” Cassie asked.

“Yes, of course,” Effie replied.

“Well then, no, he’s not trying to buy you. I think this man is head over heels, and dude remember, he’s rich, this is probably the smaller of the gestures he’d like to give you.”

Effie thought about that and she knew Cass was right. Dax probably rationalized about how big he could go and still get away with it. He was crazy generous already, but she knew he was holding back.

“I think I need to pay Mr. Hayes a visit, what do you think?”

“I think you better go give that man some serious lovin’ sister. I don’t know what kind of sexual favors you are going to have to offer up for this sweet ride,” Cass teased.

“Bitch,” Effie cursed, then swung her arm around her friend’s shoulders.

Chapter 26

An hour and a half later, Effie was pulling her sweet little car into the parking lot of the winery. She didn’t call Dax to tell him she was coming. She figured this surprise wouldn’t be that shocking to him.

Stepping out of the low slung car with kitten mules took a little effort. Effie was wearing a bright red full skirt that came to just above her knees. She’d paired that with a black tank top and white shrug that tied under her boobs.

She had pulled up her hair into a messy bun and added a silver metallic bow to it. When she threw on the outfit, she decided it looked hot and sweet at the same time. It was perfect for seeing Dax.

Striding into the tasting room, she spotted Margo who gave her a wave and gestured back towards Dax’s office.

Effie strode up to the door, gave a brief knock and walked in, closing the door behind her. She planted her feet with her hip cocked to the side, one hand on her hip and her head tilted with a look of ‘you’re in for it mister’.

“Mother, my appointment is here. I’ll talk to you later. No, we won’t be discussing this again. It is not up for debate. Goodbye Mother,” Dax finished, hanging up the phone.

Dax leaned back in his chair and steepled his fingers at his mouth. He looked her up and down a few times before dropping his hands and raising his eyebrow at her.

“Something I can do for you, sweetness?”

“No backsies? Really Dax?”

“No backsies is a binding legal contract. I had my lawyers look it up,” he explained seriously.

“What am I going to do with you?” Effie sighed.

“You could take all your exasperation out on me by sitting on my lap and offering me a kiss,” he said.

Tossing her purse onto the seat in front of his desk, Effie walked around and sat sideways over his lap. Dax immediately circled her waist and lifted her up and turned her so she was straddling his lap.

“This is not a ladylike way to sit, Mr. Hayes,” Effie tsked.

“No it is not, it’s how my hot, sexy mate sits though. It’s how my cat and my dick want you to sit. So I think it’s a win-win for everyone,” he replied, pulling her mouth down to meet his. He gave her a soul searing kiss that left them both breathless.

As he broke the kiss Dax asked, “Was it too much? I mean, clearly it was, but I really wanted you to have it. It looks like what you should drive. It’s fast and sexy like you and I figured you’d like the color. Your car was a death trap and it kept me up at night thinking of you driving it.”

Running her hand through his hair, giving it a good rumple, she said, “I’d hate to think I was keeping you up at night, handsome. Yes, it was way too much, but you already knew that.”

“You should have seen what I really wanted to buy you,” he said with a wicked glint.

“Oh I’m sure it would have broke the no return policy. But really Dax, a car? Don’t you think this kinda of puts us on an uneven footing?” Effie didn’t want to highlight the fact she was dirt poor and he was rolling in it. But facts were facts, she could never offer him the excess he’d already shown her.

“You are right, there is no way we could ever be even. You offer me more than I could ever repay in a monetary fashion. It’s really quite snobby of you to flash your generosity in my face,” he said seriously. “I’m getting a mate, a lover, someone to laugh with, to experience life with and hopefully someone to marry and start a family with. And someday just maybe, she’ll love me the way I love her. My token of a car, is tiny in comparison.”

Damn him, he was good with words. Effie leaned her forehead to his, this man was so much a part of her heart even after a week, she felt cruel stringing him along.

“Dax, you have my love. I’m not a stupid girl, I know how I feel about you. It’s just hard for me to say,” she admitted.

Dax cupped her face in both hands. “You love me?”

“Yes, I do,” she said, watching the yellow glow flare in his eyes.

“Mine,” he growled and kissed her, sealing her words between them.

“I love you so much, Effie. My heart hurts whenever you leave the room. My cat is so loud because he wants to be with you, I can barely get any work done.”

“I’m sorry about that. I know me and your cougar are going to have to get to know each other better. This week has just been passing so fast.”

“It’s fine, he’s had many years to learn patience. Besides he loves complaining to me about you being gone,” Dax laughed.

“My bad,” she whispered.

Dax kissed her again, this time slowly, drawing out the pleasure. His dick had come to full attention the moment her sweet heat had enveloped it. Even through their layers of clothes, he knew she was burning hot.

Deciding they had a little time, Dax circled his hands around her waist. “I need one,” he growled.

“Now?” she asked, not really that surprised. His promise to make her come whenever he wanted was not just idle words.

Dax let his hands slide under her skirt. He pulled the edge of her panties aside with one hand and slid his thumb up her wet slit.

“Always ready for me, aren’t you, baby?” Dax said low. He dragged his thumb up to her clit, rubbing it swiftly before bringing his thumb up to his mouth and sucking off her sweetness.

“So good,” he said, his eyes glowing back at her.

Moving his thumb back into her panties, he used his other hand to pull the lips of her pussy open. His thumb dipped into her core twirling just inside her opening.

Watching her head drop back and her eyes close, he moved his digit deeper inside her. His opposite hand pinched her clit before rubbing it in a rapid motion. He knew just how fast and hard to make her come for him.

“Give it to me, now, Effie,” he urged. He dragged up inside her, pressing deep as his other hand worked.

Effie could almost come on command to his voice. She knew that he only wanted one thing from her, and she was not going to deny herself the pleasure. The painful pleasure built and built until she was arching off his lap as her pussy clamped down on his thumb and her clit exploded in shocks that spun through her. The orgasms Dax could pull out of her were like nothing she’d ever experienced before. They were whole body, whole soul, rock your socks off amazing.

As she came down and Dax placed soft kisses along her neck, she made eye contact with him and smiled. He returned her smile, then brought his fingers to his mouth, licking her release off each one.

“Bad kitty.”

He laughed and gave her another kiss.

“When are you going to tell me about the hair?” she asked. She was happily satisfied and he usually kept her so distracted that she would forget to ask.

Dax chuckled again, “Well I could tell you it was all about my fresh start here, and that would be true. Mostly I felt like annoying my mother. Right before I left she’d tried to ambush me with another one of her friend’s daughters. She’d made a comment that she was blonde and we would make beautiful blond progeny. It was the final straw for me. Her loving machinations were too much. So I moved, dyed my hair, and started eating out of take out containers. I’m quite the rebel now.”

“I really need to teach you how to rebel,” she laughed at him.

Groaning, he pushed back and said, “How about lunch? I was kind of hoping you’d stop by so I had some food delivered, just in case.”

“Sounds yummy,” she replied giving his lips a nip.

They enjoyed their food, feeding each other bits back and forth. Trading kisses and licks, until both of them were panting for each other. “I have a conference call in five minutes, sweetness. Otherwise I would make good use of my desk right now.”

“You’ll have to owe me one, handsome. How about I check out that couch over there while you work? When you are done I can take you for a ride in my new car?”

“Deal. I love you Effie, so much,” he said giving her a hug.

Returning the hug, she leaned into his ear and whispered, “I love you, Dax.”

Effie crawled off his lap and found the leather sofa to be soft and comfortable. She was asleep in no time, Dax’s voice in the distance as he worked.
