Fantasia Fair

The longest standing transgender educational event in the world, Fantasia Fair started
in 1975 in Provincetown, Massachusetts. More serious-minded folks call it Transgender
Week. Happens every fall. Daily educational and social programs, events, shows, speakers
and parties. Sponsored in part by the Provincetown Tourism Fund, which shows how cool
P-Town is, huh. fantasiafair.org.

United Lesbians of African Heritage

ULOAH organizes an annual Sistahfest Retreat. Their site is extensive, with many links
and resources. They plan outings into the beautiful areas surrounding Los Angeles.
1626 N Wilcox Avenue #190, Los Angeles, CA 90028, (323) 960-5051, members.aol.com/uloah/home.html.

Institute for Global Communications

A progressive networking organization that’s been around since 1987. igc.org.

hanksville.net/NAresources

A comprehensive index of Native American resources, with links to sites on history,
languages, health, art, jobs and activism.

Institute for Multiracial Justice

Founded in 1997, the Institute for Multiracial Justice works toward eroding white
supremacy. If you think “Aryan Resistance” when you hear the term “white supremacy,”
it’s time to hit the history books. They print a newsletter and organize a wonderful
film festival. These folks are focused on building alliances, multiracialjustice.org.

The Disability Rights Activist

Their site is dated, but the information is still great. The links alone make up for
the datedness. There’s also a huge listing of research in government laws and policies
about disabled folks. disrights.org.

ibsgwatch. org

Indian Burial and Sacred Grounds Watch features daily updates (Because daily updates
are needed; because corporations are sundering sacred burial grounds at an unprecedented
rate) on actions, protests and threats to sacred burial grounds. A culture that disrespects
death can never, ever, ever respect life.

amboyz.org

The American Boyz are organizers of the national True Spirit Conference; their site
has listings of events and a lot more.

herwebbiz.com

A networking and support community for businesswomen and women who’d like to start
a business. A huge resource.

Malcolm X Grassroots Movement

A brilliant organization out of Central Brooklyn. MXGM has chapters all over the United
States. They sponsor programs to feed, clothe and educate people in their communities.
They offer protection by organizing programs like Cop Watch. Part of MXGM’s mission
is to “defend the human rights of our people and promote self-determination in our
community.” I can think of many, many groups and organizations that would benefit
from patterning themselves after this movement. malcolmxgrassroots.org.

restrooms. org/standing. html

A woman’s guide on how to pee standing up.

bigbadchinesemama. com

“The #1 mock mail-order bride/Asian porn spoof site in the world.” Read the “Memoirs
of an Anti-Geisha” section, then find Arthur Golden’s email and tell him what a piece
of shit he is. This is a cathartic and hilarious site that gives vengeance a fabulous
name.

womensmemorial.org/NAHM.html

The Native American Women Veterans site. Over eight hundred Native American women
served in the military during World War II. Very little is known about the history
of Native women serving in the armed forces because “history” shoves Rosie the Riveter
and G.I. Joe down our throats. This site helps set the record straight. The Women’s
Memorial is located at the Ceremonial Entrance to Arlington National Cemetery. (800)
222-2294.

Coalition Against Trafficking in Women

and trafficking in women and children. CATW is composed of regional networks and affiliated
groups and individuals. Their website has a factbook on what’s going on in countries
all over the world. catwinternational.org.

Women Against Military Madness

WAMM’s site is huge and well connected. Not to be confused with wamm.org, which is
Wo/Men for Medical Marijuana. Women Against Military Madness is celebrating its twentieth
anniversary; I wish there wasn’t a NEED for this organization to have been in existence
for twenty years, though WAMM is indeed something to celebrate. 310 E 38th Street
#225, Minneapolis, MN 55409, (612) 827-5364, worldwidewamm.org.

janes.com

This site is a bit, uh, different from what you might consumeristically associate
with the word “Jane.” I hesitated before including this site, but while organizations
like WAMM are an imperative aspect of our survival, so too is knowing what the freaky
little white men are up to. Jane’s is named after a U.K. battleship annotater, Fred
T. Jane, and it has everything you never wanted to know about war and weaponry. Know
thine enemy, babe.

up and turn them into slave-labor enterprises. Fight to free Leonard Peltier, Sundiata
Acoli, Mumia Abu-Jamal and thousands of other framed/illegally detained political
prisoners on U.S. soil. Sundiata Acoli is one of the lesser known, but by no means
more justifiably incarcerated, political prisoners in America. If you want to know
what freedom really truly is, read
