“That’s not why I didn’t call you.”

“It’s not?” He seemed sincere, and I had no idea what to say to that.

“No.” He stood and made his way around the desk, his eyes burning into mine. “It’s not.” He walked around me slowly, examining me, and I felt my color rise. I stared straight ahead, refusing to look him in the eyes. “Do you honestly not know?” he asked me finally.

There was something in his voice that I could not name. I looked over at him and saw that he had leaned against the edge of the desk, arms crossed as he stared at me. I shook my head.

“Mmm.” He considered me for a moment, and then pushed himself up. This time, when he circled me he stopped behind me. My eyes drifted closed, and I jumped when I felt his fingers tracing up the front of my throat and up my cheek; it was all I could do not to turn my face into his caress. “You want this.”

Yes.
“No.”

“I told you I wouldn’t tolerate lies.” The fingers withdrew, and his voice came out hard and flat. “If you’re going to lie to me, walk out of this office right now.”

I shook. I should leave, but that would be an admission of sorts.

“I want this,” I admitted.

“You want me.”

“I want you.”

“You
want
me to make you beg.” His voice was a breath, stirring my hair. “You can’t hide how wet you get when I take you my way, so don’t even think of lying. You want to be dominated, Catriona.” His fingers were on my chin, turning my face to his, and I was lost in his blue eyes. “Tell me the truth. You’ve been thinking about me since we first met, haven’t you? Thinking about how wet I make you. Alone, at night…” His voice was a caress. “You think about me and you get off thinking about the things you want me to do to you, don’t you?”

The words stuck in my throat. I couldn’t possibly admit this. He was running his thumb over my bottom lip, and I finally nodded.

“I’ve wanted you since the moment I saw you.” His voice was rough, his gaze locked on mine. “Something about you…Catriona, you were meant to be mine.”

I jerked back. It was a tiny movement, but it was enough. Something flashed in his eyes and he moved away from me, going back to sit behind his desk.

“That’s why,” he said.

“What?”

“You’re mine,” he growled. “Your body tells me every time I touch you. Those lips were made to be wrapped around my cock. That ass…Catriona, you have no idea. Your tits. That perfect, tight little pussy of yours.”  His fingers clenched around the arm of the chair. “You were made for me. But you won’t say it. You won’t come to me. And I won’t have any half-measures with you.”

“That’s why?” My voice was very small. I remembered now:
Say it
. His voice had been rough, full of need. And I had turned my head away, doing everything I could to keep myself from saying the words. “That was…what you wanted that night?”

“It’s not what I want.” His spine was straight, his fists clenched. “With you, Catriona…it’s all or nothing. I can’t have you in my arms and wonder if you want to be there.” He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, and then smiled. The lazy, heavy-lidded look was back—or at least a shadow of it. “So this is what I want from you: if you want me, you’ll come to me.” He slid a card across the desk to me. “Call, and the car will come for you.”

“Tonight?” I couldn’t think what else to say.

“Take as much time as you need.” His eyes burned into mine, and he stood again to come to me. His mouth hovered close. “I want you to come to me, Catriona. I want you to tell me that you’re mine.” He tilted his head to breathe the words in my ear. “And you will, you know.”

“I will?” My voice didn’t seem to work properly.

“You will. You’re made for me.”

“Then why…” I tried to clear my head. “Why make me say it?”

“Because until you can, until you do…you won’t be ready to be mine.” He drew back and gestured to the door. “Go on. Think about it.” His half-smile made my knees go weak. “I’ll be waiting.”

I stepped out into the lobby and left with only the barest nod at his secretary. She glowered; she wasn’t a big fan of me. I supposed she’d be even less of a fan when she realized why I’d come to Ellison Corp in the first place. In the elevator, I slumped back against the wall and closed my eyes. I knew what the smart thing to do was.

Get close to Dominick Ellison, and find out all of his secrets.

- Dominick -

It was past midnight when she arrived, a tiny shape outside my door. Edward had called to say he was bringing her over, and I had spent the ensuing fifteen minutes pacing around my apartment. I told myself I’d had no doubts, and in a way it was true. But I understood, better than anyone else, why she would want to run from this. It was terrifying.

When I opened the door, I let my gaze travel over her. She was wearing a nicer coat, but it was still too much clothing—that was, if she was here for the reason I hoped. I waited, my hand on the doorframe, and she looked me dead in the eyes: scared, but resolute.

“Well?” I said finally. I knew she cold heard the hunger in my voice.

“I’m yours,” she said softly. Tears trembled in her eyes. “I’m yours.”

“Yes.” It was a breath; almost, I might say, a prayer. I stepped back to allow her over the threshold.

“I…” She looked around herself.
What do I do next?
She was beautiful, unsure of herself and still exquisite.

“Go to the bedroom,” I said. I could not keep the desire from my voice. “I’ll be there in a moment.” I gestured to the hallway on the other side of the room and she went. She did not look back, but from the self-conscious set of her shoulders, she knew I was watching her, and I smiled to see her go.

It was as I turned back to close the door that my eye caught a hint of movement in the hallway. My head whipped around, eyes narrowing as the figure stepped out of the shadows. Blue eyes, hair gone grey at the temples. And that same, familiar smile.

“Hello, Dominick.”

“Sebastian.” I lifted one eyebrow. “What a surprise.”
