“And using sex to control you,” Nora remarked. “You should really keep him in the Channel.”

“I intend to from now on,” Annie replied. “Look, I don’t want to get him in trouble, Nora. I just want him to let me do my job.”

“Understood,” Nora responded. “I will speak to Mr. Nicholas about him. I think Devyn is moving past being a PA, and I suspect Mr. Nicholas has other plans for him.”

“Thank you!” Annie said.

“Don’t say anything to him right now,” Nora told Annie. “We’ll take care of the problem for you.”

“That’s wonderful,” Annie said. And then she asked softly, “How did you know I had a Devyn in the Channel, Nora?”

Nora laughed again. “If he were my PA I certainly would. Lucky guess, I suppose. But when reality intrudes on fantasy it can cause problems, can’t it?”

“Agreed,” Annie replied, nodding her head.

Devyn hadn’t been happy since Annie had gotten her promotion. She had been avoiding sex with him, and he wasn’t used to being told no. “I could fuck that pretty thing you hired for the gift shop,” he told her irritably that morning when she pushed him away. “She’s been giving me the eye since the second week she came.”

“Go ahead,” Annie said cruelly.

“What the hell has gotten into you?” he wanted to know.

“I told you when I got this promotion that that part of our relationship was likely to end, Devyn. I cannot, will not, be known as the woman who screws her PA. My reputation among the staff has got to be a good one. If I don’t have their respect I can’t work with them. Now, where are those new applications for a Spa visit that I’m going to need to approve today?”

“You are turning into such a bitch,” he complained.

“I warned you not to have feelings for me, Devyn,” Annie said coldly.

Angrily, he backed her up against her desk. “I’ve always wanted to do it on a desk,” he said to her.

“Frankly I’ve never thought about it,” Annie said, “but you seem to think about sex all the time, sweetie.”

He pressed himself against her, and she could feel his hard-on. “I want to do it to you now,” he said softly.

“I don’t,” Annie told him. “But if you are a very good boy and don’t annoy me, maybe I’ll let you do it later.” She pushed him away. “The papers,” she said.

Annie managed to keep him so busy the rest of the day that there was no time for a romantic interlude. She was gone by the time he got back to the office, after she sent him on an errand at ten minutes to five o’clock.

Devyn cursed softly and found his way to the gift shop to flirt with the new shopkeeper. It wasn’t long before he had her in the storage room against a wall fucking the daylights out of her. She was a screamer, and he hoped to God no one had heard her. But he did feel better afterward. Her name was Nancy, and she had taken the edge off of his lust.

Over the next few weeks Devyn would visit the gift shop whenever Annie would refuse his overtures, which was all the time now. Nancy was as lustful as he was, and he was frankly beginning to enjoy doing her every day. Annie would smile when he would make some excuse to go to the gift shop. He had no feelings for Nancy, as he did for Annie, but she was a complaisant screw, and until he could figure out how to get into Annie’s pants again, Nancy would do nicely.

Mr. Nicholas paid a visit to the Spa in mid-June. Annie and Devyn were called into the lovely office that was kept for him. Nora was with him. “Annie, my dear,” he greeted her with a warm smile. “How are you? Nora tells me you are doing very well. I knew my faith in you would be justified. Sit down, both of you.”

“Tea?” Nora was seated before the mahogany butler’s tray. “It’s green.” When Annie nodded she poured some from the porcelain teapot into a delicate cup, and passed the saucer to Annie with a smile.

“Devyn, my boy,” Mr. Nicholas said in his cultured voice, “I am afraid that I have some rather dreadful news to bring you. Your brother, Phillip, was killed in a plane crash early this morning. It seems he was piloting his own plane back from his Nantucket cottage after a long weekend. The pilot of a commercial jet saw the plane several thousand feet below him. It just exploded in midair. He radioed it in immediately, and the coast guard went out, but the aircraft was in pieces. All the bodies, your brother, his wife, his two sons, were recovered. You are now the head of Scott Industries, my boy. I should congratulate you but for the circumstances.”

Devyn looked astounded, but then he said, “Phillip wouldn’t have left the business to me.”

“He didn’t, but your father did, my boy,” Mr. Nicholas informed Devyn. “Your father’s will stated that if anything happened to Phillip, the family business would go to you. Your brother wasn’t just trying to break the trust your father set up for you; he was trying to have that part of your father’s will declared invalid.”

“My God,” Devyn said softly.

“I believe your father hoped that you and Phillip would reconcile, and that as you matured, your older brother would teach you, and share the responsibilities of Scott Industries with you.”

“Fat chance,” Devyn remarked. “Phillip hated my guts from the moment I was born. And now the business is mine? I have no idea what the hell I’m going to do with it. What a mess this is.”

“Not at all, my boy,” Mr. Nicholas said soothingly. “Charlie Kramer, one of the company’s three vice presidents, is a personal friend of mine. He’s going to help you find your sea legs. I assure you that you can depend upon his expertise and his total loyalty to you. You’re going to do very well, I promise you. I think at this point we can all agree that you are past being a handsome young personal assistant at an exclusive spa.” He chuckled, and then grew serious again. “This is what your father wanted for you, my boy. Sadly he didn’t live long enough to see you mature into the fine man you are today. You will do Scott Industries proud. Now run along and begin your packing. A limo will be here shortly to take you home. You’ll have a funeral to prepare. I hope you do not mind, but I have had a statement issued to the press in your name.”

Devyn nodded, still stunned by this sudden turn of events. Then, with a nod to Mr. Nicholas, he turned and left the room.

The CEO of the Channel Corporation turned to Annie, whose tea was untouched as she sat shocked by what she had just heard. “And now, my dear, I believe you will need a new personal assistant, won’t you? Nora tells me you would like to hire a female. Do you have someone in mind?” He smiled, but she noticed that the smile did not touch his black eyes. “A local girl, perhaps?”

“Y-yes,” Annie replied. “I thought someone young with good skills, who would be willing to learn, and content to keep her place.”

Mr. Nicholas chuckled. “Of course,” he agreed. “Devyn, I take it, did not keep his place. Well, then, he certainly is ready to take over his family’s company, isn’t he? This accident came at rather the right time, didn’t it?”

Annie felt a shiver race down her spine. “It’s a terrible tragedy,” she said softly.

“Not for Devyn,” Mr. Nicholas responded. “If you lost your family it would be a great tragedy, but Phillip was nothing to Devyn. A half brother who hated him. A woman, and two children he had never even met? They meant nothing to him. Oh, he will plan and attend the funeral, exhibiting just the right amount of proper familial sorrow, but it will be because he loved and respected his own father. Nothing more. You will want to make your good-byes, of course, Annie, my dear. You have my permission to hire whomever you want. Nancy has turned out quite nicely, so I believe we can trust your judgment in the matter of a personal assistant.”

She was being dismissed. Annie stood up. “Thank you, sir,” she said.

When she had gone, Nora said, “I think she is beginning to understand.”

Mr. Nicholas nodded with a faint smile. “Perhaps,” he responded.

“You could lose her,” Nora murmured.

Mr. Nicholas laughed. “No. I do not believe I will lose her. But, then, there is always that chance. Still, she is a woman who loves her family and sees the advantages that working for the corporation has given her, has given them. And Nanny Violet makes it quite easy for her to soothe her conscience. And then there are her visits to the Channel to be considered.”

“What have they got to do with anything?” Nora asked him. “They’re a fantasy.”

“Annie is not a woman who grew up fantasizing,” Mr. Nicholas said. “And so she programmed her favorite fairy tale as her first fantasy, casting herself as the heroine. Imagine her surprise to learn the pleasures of sexual punishment. An interesting fantasy for a practical woman, and not one she consciously considered. But she still felt guilty for her subconscious needs, for her
betrayal
of her deceased husband. Annie prided herself on being a faithful wife and a good mother.” He chuckled again. “But then, of course, her guilt began to ease. Her visits to the Beast are sporadic now, although she has not deleted it, for she still feels the need to be punished now and again for being a very bad girl with Devyn, both in and out of the Channel.”

“I prefer to forget you are able to access our fantasies,” Nora said with a delicate shudder. “But why am I surprised you are a voyeur? You prey on human weakness.”

“I no longer bother with your fantasies, dear Nora. They are quite boring, for you are basically monogamous with your Kyle. Had you not owed me for my kindness to you in that matter of your late husband, perhaps I should not have had you,” he said to her.

“Possibly not,” Nora agreed with a smile. “But then again…”

“Ah, Nora, I knew I was right when I chose you,” Mr. Nicholas replied. “Your mind is so deliciously devious and has the capacity to be wonderfully evil. I will not keep you here at the Spa for much longer. I have already chosen your replacement.”

“Annie Miller,” Nora said.

“Indeed, yes, but not quite yet, my dear,” Mr. Nicholas told her.

“I am yours to command,” Nora responded.

He nodded. “Yes, my dear, you are,” he said with an arch smile.

Annie had left Mr. Nicholas’s office and gone to the front desk. “Where is Devyn’s room?” she asked the young man on duty.

He told her, smiling slightly, surprised that she didn’t already know. All the guys knew Dev was balling her on a regular basis. Hadn’t Connor said so? And Connor knew all the gossip. How he did his job so well and still had time to ferret it out was a mystery.

Annie hurried upstairs to the staff quarters. She entered Devyn’s room to find him liplocked in an embrace with Nancy. “I came to say good-bye,” she told him, amused.

He grinned mischievously. “Wanna have a threesome? We haven’t too much time before the limo comes, but we can do it.”

Annie laughed. “Why am I not shocked?” she wondered aloud as she pulled her panties off. “But only if I get to be on top. You can have Nancy’s pussy, can’t he, dear?”

“Mrs. Miller,” the young woman said, blushing, “I don’t know what you think, but—”

“Sweetie, he’s been fucking you for the last month. Daily, I’m told, so don’t bother denying it. If you’re wearing panties get them off.”

Annie moved next to Devyn, and his arm wrapped about her, his hand reaching up to knead her breast while, turning his head, he kissed Nancy again. The younger woman turned into him, unzipping his trousers, reaching in to fondle his cock and balls. Annie began to tongue his ear suggestively. In short order Devyn was hard. Pulling the two women with him, he fell back on the bed. Nancy squirmed about, going down on him as Annie kissed him, her tongue playing with his. Finally he pulled his head from hers.

“Nancy, I want a taste of pussy,” he told her. “Get over here now!”

The younger woman crawled up the bed and positioned herself over Devyn’s head, pressing down lightly so he could access her cunt with his skillful tongue. As she did, Annie mounted his cock, purring as she took him all in, and then began to ride him, slowly at first, but with increasing rapidity and vigor as the moments passed. Soon the two women and the man were moaning with the pleasure they were both giving and receiving. Devyn licked and teased at Nancy’s cunt, nipping at her clit with his teeth to bring her on. When he was near to coming and felt that Annie was, too, he pushed two fingers into Nancy’s vagina, moving them quickly back and forth so that the trio climaxed practically together with a simultaneous cry. Then they fell back onto the bed.

Annie sighed. “God, that was good,” she said to him.

“It’s a hell of a way to say good-bye.” Devyn chuckled. “I wish I had thought to do this before now.”

“You only get to do it once,” Annie told him. “And, Nancy, this never happened. If you breathe a word to anyone, including nosy Connor, you’ll be out of a job.”

“Gotcha, Mrs. Miller,” Nancy said as she got up and pulled down her skirt. “I’ve said what I had to to Dev. I’ll leave you two.” Picking up her staff blazer, she hurried out of the room.

Annie swung her legs over the edge of the bed, but he pulled her back into his arms, his hand sliding into her dress to grab a breast. “Devyn!” she scolded him.

“One more time,” he said, giving her a little boy face.

“No time, sweetie,” she told him, pulling his hand out of her dress, easing out of his grip, and standing up. “The limo will be waiting for you by now, and Mr. Nicholas is still in house. Pack your dick away and get going.” She smoothed the skirt of her dress.

“God, you are one cold bitch,” he said as he followed her instructions and stood up to face her. “You used to be so warm and sweet, Annie. What’s happened to you?”

“Devyn, come on now. You got what you wanted from me. You seduced your boss and introduced her to the wonders of fun sex. Whatever was between us was never going to go anywhere. I’m forty-four. You’re thirty-two. We had fun, but that’s all it was. I’ve had a husband. A wonderful husband. I don’t want another, and a lover would only complicate my life for me. I’ve got a career now. I’ve got a family who depend upon me, Devyn. My family will always come first with me.”

“So it’s wham, bam, thank you, ma’am,” he said bitterly.

“Oh, Devyn,” Annie answered, reaching up to stroke his face. “I loved every minute of us, of what we had. But it’s over now. Don’t be angry. You’ll understand when you have a family to care for, sweetie. Remember your mom and dad, how they loved each other, and how happy and safe they made you feel. Find a nice girl, fall in love, be happy. And make her happy. And give your kids all the love and security that you can. That’s what I’m doing. It’s all for my kids. You’ll understand someday.” She smiled at him. “I’ll see you downstairs.” And then she hurried from his room.
