T
hank you to my wonderful family. This book would not have been possible without your support. To my sister, who is my other half and gives me such strength. To my brothers for years of laughter and roughhousing. To my parents who have always cherished and encouraged my imagination. To my friends for always accepting me for who I am. And to my grandparents for their love while alive, and for strolling the halls and hiding things when I’m not looking after death.

I love you all more than there are stars in the sky and wave
s in the sea.

And thank
you
, dear reader, for investing a sliver of your life in this tale. May your path ever be charmed!

About the Author

I
wrote and illustrated my first book for fun in kindergarten, and shockingly enough, it was called “The Haunted House.” Though it took me some time to realize that writing was my preferred form of expression, I have had a drive to tell stories my whole life.

I received my BA in English and my MFA in Creative Writing from San Jose State University in Fiction and Screenwriting.

Darkling
was inspired by a dream that most would consider a nightmare. I didn’t realize I’d written a story about grief until I was done, and I hope that its message will help others as much as the writing helped me.

I have many more books in the works and several belong to series, so please keep your eyes peeled! You can keep up to date by following me on Facebook and Twitter:
