Giovanni thanked the captain of the Lear Jet Hans had ordered to ensure Randy and Charlene’s quick return to him.

In forty-five minutes and a short limousine ride from the airport, Charlene would be face to face with him and then their games could begin.  Hans had special plans for her.  No one, not even someone as pretty as Charlene was going to get away with trying to blackmail him. He would take care of her and her larcenous ways. She’d never be able to pull another trick like that on him, or on anyone else, for that matter. He’d see to that. When he was done with her, no one would want any part of her.

Giovanni would take care of Randy later on that night with two gunshots to his head—execution style.

Giovanni had done well, and for his service, Hans gave him a $30,000 bonus and a free private jet ride back to his Palm Springs Villa.

He would also keep Gi on his payroll for the time being, until Gi screwed up again—which he was more than likely to do. But that’s another story for a different time.

As for Stephanie and John, they finally did get divorced. Stephanie kept Arachne and quit her practice. As a result of the divorce settlement, she had more than enough money to survive for the rest of her life. She was now enjoying being a blonde living on Arachne in King Harbor where she had multiple suitors all much younger than she was.

Fred McCallister finallyquit the LAPD and moved to Bridgeport where he was just learning to enjoy his retirement. He had gone out fishing earlier in the morning mist and caught five nice trout, which he brought in and put into the sink where he would clean them.

He glanced at his cellphone on the counter and played the only voicemail he had.

He recognized Palmer’s voice immediately.  The short message hit him like a sucker punch to his gut.

“Jeffrey Palmer got off on a technicality. Watch your back.”
