“Ok, but be careful” Marcus said.

“Please be careful” Jack said as he held her hand and looked into her eyes.

Trina felt the familiar twinge of jealously flood her body.

“I will” Ariel said as she looked back at Jack and smiled.

She jumped from the ground and with her powers, cruised through the forest until she was on top of the four vampires. She spit out liquid silver and they turned to dust not knowing what had hit them.

Ariel turned her eyes white to scan movement and voices around the area. She had power to hear people’s thoughts, hear sounds as little as they were over long distances. She could even hear a heartbeat from a long distance.

She could make out a large number of Reigns in guard of the castle, and it was already dark meaning all of them were awake even those who couldn’t walk in daylight. As she scanned the area, she noticed Thomas’s thoughts.

“Please don’t come for me Nessa” Thomas thought.

Ariel turned back and descended in the ditch where her group was.

“Ok, I know where Thomas is. He’s at the topmost floor. I think I’m the only one who can get in and out unnoticed” she explained.

“How will you get in?” Trina asked as she looked up at the room looking for any passage way.

“There’s glass joining the walls to the roof, if I can manage to cut through the glass I think I can fit in” she explained.

“No, I think that’s too risky Ariel” Connor said as he shook his head.

“I don’t know how I’d answer to your parents if anything were to happen to you” he continued.

“I think it’s the only way Connor, if we decide to go in all together, we’ll surely be outnumbered” she explained.

Ryan had chosen ten Araneas to join them and with Connor, Marcus, Nessa, Trina, Jack, Ariel and him they made a team of seventeen.

“I think it’s the best shot we have without being detected” Marcus said as he looked at Connor.

“Ok, but should anything happen to you, tell me, I can hear thoughts too, and so can Trina. If anything happens, we’re coming in is that clear?” Connor said as he looked at Ariel.

Ariel rose up and cruised to the top room where Thomas was held. When she got to the glass window, she used her index fingernail to cut through the glass. It had grown inches long with silver tips. Her hybrid nature allowed her to use vampire and Aranea powers whenever she wished. She’d used the Aranea silver secretion to turn her finger nail to silver.

As she cut the glass window, the noise made Thomas look up to see her holding the circular piece of glass she’d cut and slid through the hole. She landed gently on the floor and Thomas looked at her in relief. Before she was settled on the ground, Thomas looked behind her and saw the door fly open and two Reigns went into the room.

“Behind you!!!!!!” he shouted.

Ariel looked back and threw the glass she held in her hands at the vampires slicing their throats and their heads fell to the floor and the glass splattered on the floor making noise. In a supernatural speed, she headed to Thomas’s side and cut the ropes that tied his hands and feet.

Thomas stepped on the floor and before they could make a step further, they were surrounded by around ten Reigns.

“Stay behind me” she said as she went in front of Thomas.

“So courageous I see” came a voice from the door as the Reigns gave way so Caleb went and stood in front of Ariel.

“Caleb?” Ariel uttered in shock.

Caleb’s eyes lit up in surprise when he saw Ariel.

“What are you doing here Ariel?” he asked.

“You are Danton’s son?” Ariel asked ignoring his question.

“Please don’t tell me you’re with these filthy humans and the stupid vampires who killed my father” he said as he moved close to Ariel so their faces were a few inches from each other.

“I promised to avenge his death and no one is going to stop me, not even you Ariel” he said between gritted teeth.

Chapter 4

Caleb and Ariel had a history. They’d met when his father Danton had gone to their home in the Himalayas to convince her parents to join the Reigns. He wanted to get their support in completing the ritual of five rings which would help him get all the supernatural powers and they would in turn over rule the mortals and other immortals.

Ariel’s parents declined his proposal and Danton left with such furry. Caleb had told her that Danton was his master and she wondered why he’d lied about him being his father. They’d spent time together in the beautiful gardens of her home as Danton and her parents spoke and discussed about the rings for 3 days.

She knew Caleb liked her and before they left, Caleb snuck into her room and kissed her. She was taken aback by his action and before she could speak, Caleb was out of the window and joined Danton when he left unpleased by the outcome of their visit.

That was about three years back and she couldn’t believe she’d be looking at him again, in defense of a mortal.

“Why didn’t you tell me Danton was your father?” she asked.

“And what difference would it make Ariel?” he asked as he looked at her straight in the eyes.

“They killed my father, and there’s no way, he is leaving this castle alive” he countered as he looked at Thomas, his eyes flickering in anger.

“You for sure do not agree with what your father wanted to do, kill all mortals and steal power from the rings do you?” she asked as she searched his face to find the sweet Caleb she saw in those three days they’d spent together.

“All I want right now, is to avenge my father’s death” he said as he moved closer to her, their noses almost touching.

“Come on Caleb, please let him go, he had nothing to do with your father’s death” she begged.

“He’s the only leverage I have to bring the killers to me” he answered in a gruff voice.

“If you want to hurt him, then you’re going to have to go through me” she said as she looked into his eyes, fire flickering in her eyes.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Caleb said as he burst out laughing.

“You are challenging me?” he continued, his face changing to become serious and angered.

“If I have to challenge you to protect him then I will Caleb, please do not do this” she begged.

Before Caleb could answer, the windows blew open and glass flew to the floor as Marcus, Nessa and Trina jumped through them and settled on the floor. Connor, Jack and the solders had turned into Araneas and were fighting other vampires on the corridors.

“Thomas are you ok” Nessa shouted, her eyes red and her fangs out.

Thomas had never seen her that outraged, her nails had shot out and her skin was almost white. She looked so angry and he pitied anyone who’d cross her.

“I see, girlfriend has come to rescue his pathetic human boyfriend” Caleb said in disgust.

“I was wondering what took you so long” he continued.

“Caleb please don’t do this” Ariel begged.

Everyone looked at Ariel in surprise. She spoke as if she knew him.

“Please do not do this, I beg you” she continued as she went to Caleb’s side and took his hand.

Caleb looked into her eyes and saw her eyes looking at him in remorse.

“I’m sorry Ariel, but we just have to agree to disagree on this” he said.

In a split second, Caleb moved past her and held Thomas by the throat, lifting him inches from the floor as he opened his mouth to bite him.

Ariel slid on the floor and hit his feet before his fangs touched Thomas’s neck and he fell on top of her. The other vampires jumped up to charge at the group when they saw their master on the floor. Caleb howled in anger as he held Ariel by the neck on the floor, his eyes burning with anger.

He looked down at her and loosened his grip on her neck, he couldn’t harm her. She had been the only girl he loved. Although they’d been together for a short period, he’d never forgotten her beautiful face, how her blonde hair flew to her waist. How her beautiful eyes warmed his heart and her lips so beautiful and sweet.

He hit the floor with his fist on the ground next to her face and it went through the bricks, cracking the floor in the process.

“Stay out of my way Ariel, I don’t want to hurt you” he said, a familiar compassion engulfing his face.

He rose up from the floor and scanned the room, it was a battle field and his followers streaked into the room to fight the intruders. All he wanted was to kill the human, he knew that was the only way he’d hurt Nessa and the rest of the group.

Araneas jumped into the room from the broken window and they spat liquid silver killing the Reigns on the spot. Caleb knew they were getting over powered and he saw Thomas crawl up in a corner. He started charging towards him and when he was inches from him, he was blocked by Nessa who cut through him throwing him in the air and he landed on the floor with a thud.

Nessa was so angry and looking at Caleb she wanted to rip his head off. She charged towards him and jumped on top of him. They rolled of the floor holding each other’s necks leaving it for the strongest vampire to win. Nessa rolled on top of him and dipped her thumb inside his eyes having him loosen his grip on her neck.

In supernatural speed, she held him by the neck and forced him on his knees as he held his head ready to rip it off.

“Nessa please don’t kill him” Ariel yelled as she rushed to her side.

Nessa breathed heavily as she looked at Ariel, her eyes a burning red and her fangs so long they’d pricked her chin.

“Please don’t, I beg you” Ariel continued as she went to her side and held her shoulders.

“Everyone back up” Nessa yelled.

“Back the fuck up or I rip his head right off” she continued.

The other Reigns stood back and looked at their master in shock.

“We are getting out of here and none of you is following us, you hear me you mother fuckers?” she lashed with burning eyes.

“I will kill him I swear” she said as she turned his neck.

The other Reigns back off and they were soon in the forest. Marcus tied Caleb’s hands and held him captive back to the Araneas camp.

Chapter 5

It was dawn and the sun was about to come up when they got to camp. The remaining Aranea solders were still in guard of their camp when they got to the compound. They let everyone out of the tunnels and threw Caleb inside.
