Acknowledgements

I’d like to thank the following people for their support in writing this novel:

My editor/proof-reader,
Stephanie Dagg
. Steph is amazingly frank, efficient and precise. She invests herself in her projects fully and cares deeply for the books her authors write. She’s a wonder and I wouldn’t print a book without her input.

Thanks to my test-readers Derek Graham, Michael Young, Colette Brown, Louise MacDonald, Tracy Stewart, Victoria McEwan, Robert Cowan.

Very Special thanks to Jayne Doherty and Gayle Karabelen for their continued support of my writing career.

Special thanks also to fellow writers Keith Nixon and Ryan Bracha. Would be a much more difficult job without your support.

Thanks to Goodreads I recruited the assistance of Michelle Ruedin in the final beta-reading stages of the book’s production. Michelle’s insights and enthusiasm for the dEaDINBURGH books is something quite special. I genuinely can’t believe my luck in finding her. Thank you, Michelle.

Thanks also to Paul McGuigan of
PMCG Photography
for lending me his talents shooting key locations from the book around Edinburgh on a very dreech afternoon.

A huge thank you, as always, to my wife Natalie Wilson for unwavering encouragement and support.
I wouldn’t have written a word without your belief in me.

Author’s Note

This book is my first sequel. I hadn’t considered that the weight of the first book in the series would be so heavy when I plotted the outline for dEaDINBURGH: Alliances. It’s an odd thing, when people email or tell you in person that they enjoyed one of your books. It’s lovely and I’m always really grateful for each comment, but going into the process of writing this book, each of these remarks came back to me.

I hope that Alliances fulfils you expectations and builds on the first book. It’s the very best story I had to tell.

This book was inspired by Jonathan Maberry’s Rot & Ruin series. A gorgeous set of books.

Ben Turner is a Dead Man

(The Dead Man Trilogy: 2)

by Ryan Bracha

"Bracha has established himself as one of the very best British authors, Indie or otherwise, with this wonderfully nasty, intelligent and exciting novel." -
Mark Wilson
, author of
Head Boy
and
dEaDINBURGH
It’s six months after Paul Carter and his unlikely gang of misfits kick started a slow burning revolution, and New Britain is falling to its knees. As it recovers from a short and bloody war with No-Man’s Land north of the border, an ultra-violent band of former lawyers, led by the unhinged Nat Sweeney, is stalking the streets killing any law man that stands in their way.
The thing is, an ultra-violent band of Scotsmen, led by the unhinged Ben Turner, right hand man to one Paul Carter, is doing the exact same thing.
In a country as fragile as New Britain, it’s only a matter of time before something gives, and chaos reigns on the streets.
The second book in Ryan Bracha’s satirical, violent and dystopian Dead Man series takes you deeper into the broken world of New Britain, where a social network life will always be preferable to a social
life.
