Doomsday Love: An MMA & Second Chance Romance (17 page)

“I know you’re more than that,” she whispered. “And you only do it because you have to.”

“But there are only a few people that actually know that I’m more than just a fighter.”

She moved in closer again. “I know it. Your family knows it. That’s all that matters. People that actually care.”

I didn’t respond to that, but only because I didn’t know what to say. “I only do it because it helps provide. With my two jobs and working the Dawg Pit I can pay most of her bills, I can keep the roof over her head, I can pay for some of her chemo treatment, and I’ve even set up a savings account just in case. But… it’s still not enough. Which is why I signed up to fight to begin with. It was easy, but even so it still wasn’t enough.”

I pause, focusing on the steering wheel. “My dad makes more money than me since he runs the gym at night and manages the fights. He gets money from all angles. I only get it from one. And that’s through him. He offered to pay me and in return I agreed to keep fighting for him until he saw fit. The only reason he does it is because I’m his moneymaker. I’m undefeated. I’m the reason people come out to the Dirty Dawg Pit.” I sighed. “If she didn’t need my help, I wouldn’t have joined him. I swear I wouldn’t have.”

“You talk as if you hate him.”

“Maybe I do.”

“I don’t believe that.”

I shut my eyes briefly, shaking my head. She just didn’t understand. She didn’t get it. Our lives were so different in so many ways.

Her parents were there, my father wasn’t, and with my Mom gone it didn’t make matters better. If anything, life after her death only seemed to get worse.

“My father was abusive physically and mentally up until the day I stood up to him,” I inform her. “That was the same day I decided to move in with my grandmother without his permission. I was fifteen and it was the best thing I ever could have done. I never wanted to talk to him or see him again, but when I turned seventeen and my grandma told me she was sick, and I found her crying in her bedroom over the stack of bills, I knew I had to do something.

“I couldn’t just sit around and watch her stress the rest of her life away. The jobs helped back then, but not much. So the twins told me to talk to Flex—said he’d been running late night underground fights. They told me they made almost $600 a night, win or lose. That’s $1200 a week. I
needed
that money, so I sought Flex out and told him I wanted to fight for some cash. I didn’t tell him why, but he found out when my grandma called and asked for some of my records. He rubbed it in my face, I told him to fuck off, and made it my mission to find another job to provide for her. I didn’t need him, ya know?” I shrug.

“Anyway, he showed up the next day at my job after he heard what was going on. He told me straight to my face that the money I made still wouldn’t be enough to take care of her, and then he said we could make an agreement.

“He knew what I was capable of—that I never lost a fight. So he said, ‘You fight for me, and I’ll handle the bills you can’t. Don’t, and she’ll die.’ I knew as soon as those words came out of his mouth that I had no choice. I didn’t want her to suffer. I needed to do whatever it took, even if that meant I had to be around him again.”

“Oh.” She lowered her gaze. “Wow—I’m sorry, Drake. I didn’t know.”

“It’s not your problem. Everything is fine now. Don’t be sorry.”

She looked up at me. I avoided her eyes.

“It sucks to think about—to admit that my own
father
wouldn’t care for his only son unless he got something in return. Flex only wants one thing out of me. In his eyes, I am just his big bag of money. I’m the reason he received any recognition at all. If I had never started fighting, he would still be broke and still living in a damn trailer.”

“He sounds like a huge dick,” she said, angrily.

I shrugged one shoulder. “I guess. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” I looked out of the windshield, brows stitched now.

“Okay,” she replied. “We don’t have to anymore. I won’t push it. You’ve already told me more than enough.” She slid in close again. “We had a great day. I’d hate to ruin that.”

We did have fun. Maybe too much fun, but I can’t admit that.

Turning to look at her, I grabbed her free hand and entwined our fingers. She tipped her chin, her brown locking with my green.

“I want it off my mind,” I murmured.

“What do you want to do?”

“You owe me,” I rumbled in her ear.

She smelled good. Sweet. My lips touched the shell of her ear, her breath hitching as they trailed down to the bend of her neck.

“I do?” she breathed.

“Don’t act like you don’t remember.” I groaned, kissing her there.

A mix of a whimper and a moan filled her throat, but she didn’t resist. “Fine,” she said. “Deal’s a deal. Have your way.”

My tongue ran over my lips as I watched her mouth—how her pouty, full lips moved when she spoke. With her hand still clasped in mine, I guided her body down, her back resting on the leather bench.

I was careful, slow and residual, nestling between her legs. It was so quiet now, all thoughts of my personal life somewhat forgotten.

I needed them gone for good. I needed a distraction.

I focused on listening to her breathing. Her breaths were shallow, almost like she didn’t want to breathe at all, out of fear of missing something.

With my arms outside her head, I leaned forward, placing my mouth on the crook of her neck again, kissing softly, sweetly. She stirred beneath me, forcing her body closer.

A soft moan filled the car as I trailed my lips down the hollow of her neck and then to her collarbone, slowly drifting down her chest.

This short skirt she wore, her legs on full display as well as her bust, was making my cock throb like a bitch. Her skin looked so silky and smooth beneath the moonlight, begging for me to taste it.

My eyes moved up to hers, and she watched me closely.

“Gonna kiss you here,” I groaned.

“Okay,” she whispered.

“Don’t gasp.”

She looked confused, but I didn’t give her much time to let it sink in. My mouth touched the curve of her bosom, and I sucked, moving my tongue between the crease. And, just like I told her not to do, she gasped and her back bowed against the seat.

Too innocent.

That’s what she was.

She’d never been played with like this. I could tell.

An amateur at best, and that was more than okay with me.

“Told you not to gasp,” I grumbled.

“I couldn’t help it,” she panted.

I smirked. “You’ve never had this done to you before, have you?”

She shook her head, her face tinged red. “No.” She seemed ashamed to admit it.

“That’s a good thing, Jenny.” My hands locked around her wrists and I slid up, my chest above hers.

“How is that a good thing?”

“I get to be the first to tease you and mean it. That’s always a good thing.”

Her doe eyes locked with mine, the brown so bright and clear. I could feel myself straining in my pants now, just from the mere thought of knowing she’d never been touched this way before.

There was something about it—being the first to leave a mark. Being the first to take control. What made it so fucking thrilling was the fact that even if she were to move on from me later on, no one would be able to compare to me.

I knew it.

She knew it.

Jenny rocked her groin on mine, her arms wrapping around the back of my neck. She hauled me down and my foot hit the door, the gesture taking me by surprise.

She wanted me inside her…but it was too soon.

Way
too soon.

So, instead I kissed her. I crushed her lips, a fierceness sweeping through the car and throughout my body. It seared us both, the heat of it landing right at the tip of my cock.

I grinded between her thighs, losing all sense of control.

I could feel the heat of her down there, so hot and ready.

I needed to feel how wet she was, her warmth wrapped tight around my finger. One of my hands slid between her thighs as I moved over. My fingers moved her panties aside, and then dipped between her other lips.

Her mouth parted, and she released a heavy breath as I sank my finger deeper. My thumb pressed on her smooth, round clit, the combination sending her over the edge.

I was right. She was so wet for me. More than ready.

I fully lost all control when her tongue swept over mine, and the taste on her tongue was so sweet I wanted to take her right there.

Right there in my truck.

I wanted to hear her breathe my name.

I wanted to hear her scream—hear her moan so loudly that someone outside the truck would hear.

I wanted to fucking own every part of Jenny Roscoe, but I knew it couldn’t happen. This was as far as I could go—at least for right now.

First day. First impressions. All that other shit.

I didn’t want her to get bored of me too quickly. But she felt good wrapped around my finger, her pussy so tight. I could only imagine it gripping my cock when it came down to it.

She reached down to lift the hem of my shirt. I struggled to pull it back down with my free hand. She managed to bring it up anyway, and I grunted as she wrapped her arm around my lower back and tugged me close, causing my finger to drive deeper.

“Jenny,” I groaned between kisses.

“Hmm?”

“What are you doing?”

She broke the kiss, her lips so pink I wanted to say fuck it and continue. “What do you mean?” she asked.

“Taking my shirt off?” My right cheek quirked upwards as I pulled my finger away.

“I’m sorry. I got carried away. I just wanted to see,” she confided.

“My body?”

“Yes.” Her face filled with shame. She started to cover it with her hands but I pulled them away before she could.

“You wanna see me?”

She bobbed her head.

“That’s it?”

She nodded again, eager this time when I grabbed the hem of it.

“Alright.” Tugging the shirt over my head, I tossed it above the steering wheel and then looked down at her. “Good enough for you?”

She blushed. “Can I… touch?”

I laughed. “We’ve been touching each other all night. I don’t see why not.”

Her fingers ran across my chest, down the middle of my abs and then across the V. “I can’t wait to brag to Kylie about this,” she admitted.

I smirked. “All done here?”

She bobbed her head quickly and I picked up my shirt, smiling.

She sat up, situating herself.

As I pulled my shirt down and smoothed the wrinkles away, I caught her looking right at my lower half.

More like, my cock.

“I… uh…”
Shit
. I scratched the top of my head as I straightened my back.

“Don’t worry,” she giggled. “I won’t tell her about that.”

“I don’t want to get too carried away with you, Jenny.”

“You won the bet.” She shrugged. “You could have done whatever you wanted to me.”

“Yeah, but... I don’t want it to be that way with you.”

“Well, how do you want it to be?”

I sighed, focusing on the teddy bear that was now stuck between the seat and the dashboard. “I want it to be easy for you to be around me, if that makes sense.”

She watched me for several seconds, and then she nodded. “I get it.”

Thank God.

“But don’t make me wait too long,” she added.

I jerked my head up to meet her eyes. She was dead serious now. She was still being playful, but by the look on her face I knew she wasn’t kidding.

I couldn’t figure out why the hell she would want to rush such a beautiful process like
that
with a guy like
me
.

“I don’t think you’re a bad guy, Drake. You are honestly one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met.”

“No shit?”

She laughed. “No shit.”

“Good to hear, Snoop.”

“Hey—” she pointed at me, thinning her eyes. “You can’t call me that anymore. I wasn’t
that
nosy today.”

“Still nosy,” I chuckled. I started the truck and she sighed, sitting back. “Let me get you home.”

I glanced at her, watching defeat mask her face. I didn’t want to leave—I honestly didn’t. I wanted to keep touching her, kissing her, making her mine in every way possible before we got to the really intimate shit, but it couldn’t be that way.

Not right now.

She needed to miss me.

Grabbing her hand, I brought her my way, draped my arm around her shoulders, and I drove off, back to her neighborhood.

She was happy about the gesture, happy to be near me.

When we stopped in front of her gates, she looked up at me.

“You have to go?” she pleaded.

“I do.”

“I won’t see you again for days, I’m sure.”

“You don’t know that.” I took note of the sad look in her eyes. “I’ll call you.”

With full reluctance, she pulled away, dropping her line of sight. “Okay.” She reached for the door handle, but I didn’t let her open the door.

I wrenched her back towards me before she could get too far away, put the truck in park, cupped her face in my hands, and kissed her.

She moaned as our mouths momentarily parted and our eyes locked, but she didn’t dare pull away. I wanted a full taste, but I didn’t take it there.

I wanted her to do the honors.

And she did just that.

Her tongue slid through and pirouetted with mine. I groaned, feeling the rock build up in my pants again. This girl had hardly done a thing and I felt like I was about to explode in my fucking jeans.

For an amateur, she was a damn good kisser. Our mouths were in sync, moving with rhythm.

Her full lips gave me more than enough to suck on, and I did just that, right before pulling away, planting a sweet caress on her upper lip, and then freeing her.

“I don’t know where you thought you were going without kissing me.”

Her smile widened when I said that, and then she sank her teeth into her plump bottom lip. Sliding across the bench and grabbing her teddy bear, she climbed out of the car.

Before shutting the door, she murmured, “Goodnight, Drake. I had fun.”

“I had fun too, Jenny.” I bobbed my head. “Have a good night.”
