Myka pulled away from her lips. “Next time we take a road trip, wear a skirt.” He dropped to his haunches and yanked one foot free.

The hard length of his shaft bobbed when he rose. She stared down at his erection and licked her lips. He slipped a finger under her chin and lifted her face. “Next time, baby, we are going to take our time but right now I need you…to be inside you like a staving man needs his next meal.”

Tee smiled, her double-inverted fangs clearly evident. She griped his waist and yanked him forward. “Then what are you waiting for wolf?” She wrapped a leg around his thigh.

He moved a hand under her other leg and lifted it up, thrusting forward. His cock slipped into her channel and her vaginal muscles tightened around him. He hiked her up higher and her butt squeaked as it rubbed against the door while he maneuvered his pelvis so his dick was rested against the opening of her passage. She giggled against his throat. He drove his cock in to her pussy and she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Myka dug his fingers into the soft tissue of her hips and enjoyed the rippling muscles of her snug sheath. He felt her teeth grazing his collarbone and lunged deeper until his nuts grazed her honeypot. Her moans accompanied his grunts while her nails scored his back. Little white dots zigzagged across his vision. She locked her legs around his waist drawing him deeper into her channel. The leg of her pants swept the back of his legs with every movement.

Myka closed his eyes and watched the light show behind his lids. She slid a hand over his shoulders and up his neck grasping the hair at the back of his head. Tee pulled his head to the side. He felt her fangs penetrate his skin and his seed exploded from his cock. She trembled against him, he flexed his pelvis to push his dick deeper, and her legs quivered. He dropped his head back and opened his eyes.

Tee raised her head and reared back as far she could, he dropped his head to meet her gaze. They both smiled and she touched her forehead to his. “No going back now.”

“Who says I want to? Where I go, Tee, you can bet this sweet ass, I will have you next to me.” He squeezed a butt cheek for emphasis.

“You sound like your brothers.”

“Yeah, at least I make my declarations sound good.”

“You’re a nut. It’s not like I plan on escaping through any bathroom windows.”

“Haha. Family jokes aside, seriously, when we arrive in Volkshire I want you to be careful. At least until we straighten this Roman shit out.”

“I will.”

He pressed a kiss to her lips and stepped back to allow her to stand. “I mean it, Tee.”

“Is this you exerting your manly authority?” She arched a brow before sinking down to get her pants on.

When she stood he yanked her up against him, bent, and took a deep breath. “You already carry my scent, Tee. Now that our bonding is complete everybody will know who you belong with.” He wrapped a fist in her thick mane. “My rights have already been established.” He slid his lips across the mate mark on her throat before releasing her tresses.

“Oh.”

Myka buttoned his fly. “Anything else I need to clarify, Tee.”

“Umm, no.”

He walked around the vehicle and opened the passenger side door. “Then we better get a move on.”

Chapter Nine

As they passed the signpost that denoted the Volkshire town limits, Tee saw the black SUV tucked behind it, no doubt full of sentinels. The streets were strangely quiet as they entered the usually bustling village. It looked as if a few people were running their errands but nothing like what she had become accustomed to seeing. Guards patrolled in pairs.

She turned to look at Myka. His nose flared and his aggravation with the necessary changes around his hometown stiffened his posture. She brushed his arm, and he glanced at her, offering a brief smile. He stopped at the stop sign and she stared out the passenger-side window. Tee saw Nix’s car was parked in the lot by the coffee shop, and she and Fre were exiting her vehicle.

“Hey it’s Fre. Drop me off.” She leaned out the window and called to her friends.

They looked up then smiled and waved. Myka drove the truck into a slot on the street. Nix and Fre walked across the sliver of grass and stopped at her window.

“Hey, you two. Glad to have you back.” Fre leaned against the door.

“More like a relief,” Nix added.

Myka eased forward and rested his arm on the steering wheel. “What are you two up too?”

Nix lifted her lips in a pleasant smile. “What do you mean, Myka? Fre and I decided we needed to get away from all the testosterone in the house and came out for a nice latte.”

Tee covered her mouth and chuckled when he narrowed his eyes.

Fre cleared her throat. “Speaking of which, Tee, why don’t you join us?”

Tee coughed. “Sorry, something in my throat. I would love to.” She shifted in her seat. “Myka?”

“Don’t be funny, Tee.” He leaned across her lap and pushed open her door, sending Nix and Fre jumping back. Before he straightened he cupped her cheek, pressed his mouth to hers, and traced her lips with his tongue. Myka held her gaze. “I’ll see you later.”

Tee touched her lips with her fingers, nodded, and jumped out the vehicle.

“Wow! That was a scorcher. Somebody has a lot of explaining to do,” Fre said in a singsong voice while widening her eyes in mock innocence.

“Have fun,” Myka suggested as he drove off.

“What the hell was that?” Nix slipped her arm through Tee’s.

Tee waved her hand. “We can chat about that later. What are y’all really up to?”

“Tiko, the sentential that’s keeping track of Roman’s men, let it slip this morning that he saw Seri. Fre and I decided to go pay her a visit because I owe her for the last time she stopped by,” Nix whispered hastily.

“Oh.”

Fre walked to the trunk of the car. “Yeah. Myka almost caught us. We don’t have much time. Once he gets to the house he’s sure to mention that he saw us and we’re supposed to be in the game room.”

“Game room?” Tee swiveled her head between the two women.

“It’s the room farthest from Rhys’s office. With all the strategy meetings, Nix and I figured it would take him a while to realize we were gone.”

“Gotcha. Ladies, I’m not dressed for a mission.” Tee patted her hips.

“Girl, we got this.” Nix shoved her key into the lock and popped the trunk. “Pick your passion.”

“Is that a grenade launcher?” Tee skimmed her fingers over the cool metal.

“Yep. Just cleaned it this morning.” Nix beamed.

“Sweet. I prefer twin holsters personally.”

Nix reached into the very back and drew out two leather gun belts. “Like these?”

“Perfect.” Tee buckled them around her waist and did a little jig to get them to settle low and snug around her hips.

“Say what you want but a double barrel is the way to go.” Fre yanked the sawed-off shotgun from side hatch then picked up a bandolier laden with shells.

“Guns are great but I’m going for stealth.” Nix picked knives and strapped them to her body, sliding blades inside her boots and waistband. Then she grabbed a crossbow from the ceiling of the trunk hood and strapped the quiver full off arrows to her waist.

Tee whipped off her jacket and held out her arms. “Do me a favor and cut off these sleeves.”

Nix gripped the thick cotton and touched the toggle of her switchblade, yanking at the material as she cut at the hem. “Good?”

Tee rolled her shoulders. “Great. I like my arms free in a gunfight. We might have one problem. I saw a unit of sentinels by the road sign.”

Fre shook her head. “Not an issue. I’ve made arrangements to borrow Eivan’s truck and the windows are tinted. We go by and those guards will think it’s a lieutenant.”

“A commander in Scar’s army gave you the keys to his car?” Tee scoffed.

“Not exactly. It’s amazing the things you find lying around.” Fre blushed.

Tee hung her head. “Myka’s gonna kill me.”

Nix rubbed her hands together. “Buck up, buttercup. We’re in this together. They’ll have to catch all of us. On second thought let me grab one more thing.” She reached under the tire well and pulled out a pale gray brick of putty and then ran her fingers along the rim of the spare tire and snatched a plastic baggy with little black tags attached to wires up.

Tee whistled low. “C-4 and blasting caps?”

Nix grabbed a messenger bag and stuffed the items in before slinging the strap over her shoulder. “Mofos want a war? I’m taking the battle to their doorstep.”

“Well we better move, girls. Eivan keeps his vehicle parked at the soldiers housing.” Fre slammed the trunk. “Our time line just got tighter now that Myka’s back.”

Tee opened the car’s back door and threw her mate’s jacket on the seat. She glanced around to make sure no one paid especially close attention to what they were doing, then trotted off behind her friends.

* * * *

Myka parked in front of the house and sat there for a minute staring at the front door. The cab still held Tee’s sent and he took a few deep breaths. Tension pooled between his shoulder blades, making his neck ache. Once he walked through those doors his peace would be shattered and chaos would reside. Rhys and Boris could be volatile at the best of times, and without him or their father to be the voice of reason…Myka groaned. It might be a couple of long nights before he could rejoin his mate in their bed. He rubbed his chin and made a mental note to have Tee’s things moved to his rooms. The front door flew open and a band of sentries trotted out.

He opened the door and eased from the vehicle, nodding at Boris’s men. A couple of them stopped to chat.

“Sasha, Mac, Eivan, Tiko. How’s surveillance?”

Eivan answered. “Boring, we have orders to do nothing but watch. Congrats on the pact.”

“Thanks.” Myka pointed his chin toward the house. “How bad?”

Tiko waved a hand. “Fre and Nix are keeping them calm…”

“Kind of.” Mac finished the sentence.

Myka sighed. “Damn, that bad?”

Sasha grinned. “Nix snuck me a written directive.” She pulled the folded sheet of paper from her pocket and read aloud. “Kill them, Sasha. Ignore what I say publically.”

The other sentries laughed. Eivan smirked. “Yeah, that about sums up the last few days.”

The others nodded in unison and moved off. Myka slammed the door and stalked up the porch steps. He rolled his shoulders, opened the door, and stepped over the threshold. He glanced up and noted that someone had finally fixed the ceiling where Fre and put a few bullets a couple of months ago. Everything appeared calm. He crossed the foyer and headed down the hall to see his brothers. Shattered wood lay on the floor outside Rhys office. Myka placed a palm on the door and pushed in. At least he hadn’t put a hole through the door again. He took a step and heard the crunch of plastic, looking down he saw the remnants of two if not three cell phones.

Rhys yelling into the teleconference apparatus greeted him. His twin glanced up at him then continued talking. “Myka is here. If Roman moves, don’t let the fucker out of your sight. I sent Boris’s men to relieve you.” He stabbed the End button.

Myka looked over his shoulder when a heavy hand slapped his back. Boris crossed his arms over his chest and Myka took a step forward out of his reach. The soft click told him the big bear had closed the door. Weary, he walked around the conference table and fell into a chair.

“I didn’t see a sign of Roman and his men when I rode into town.” Myka stretched his legs out in front of him.

“The little shit is holed up in a house on the other side of the valley. I kept my word but now that you’re here, I’m giving Boris the all clear to slit their damn throats.” Rhys sat down and swung his legs up on the table.

Boris walked around Myka, pulling his phone from his pocket.

“So after all the hard fucking work I just put in you’re going to ruin it? We have the agreement with Betaille. Once the numbers are verified we will have the Council in our pockets. Why fight if we don’t have to? Leave the damn coward where he is. Let me and Dad handle this. For once, you won’t have to fight.” Myka laid his arms on the table and steepled his fingers. “But who am I to make that call? After all, you’re my Alpha, brother.”

Boris looked between the two men, his finger hovered above the phone screen. The chair squeaked when Rhys leaned back. He tapped his finger in a rhythmic tattoo on the polished surface and stared off at a point on the wall.

Myka held his tongue, letting Rhys think, and turned toward Boris. “With everything still going on, why would you let Fre and Nix go into town unescorted?”

Boris’s head snapped up. “They’re on property. I saw them this morning. Nix was practicing darts. She’s still stuck on trying to beat me.”

Myka shook his head. “Uh, no they aren’t, I just left Tee with them at the coffee shop.”

A deep
thud
made Nix and Boris turn their heads. Rhys was on his feet and leaning over the conference-call machine. He pinned Myka with his stare. “How long ago?” Rhys punched in numbers on the apparatus.

The phone line picked up and rhythmic tones filled the room.

“I saw them no more than an hour ago,” Myka replied.

“Yes.” A sentry picked up.

“Klaus, did any unusual cars exit Volkshire?” Rhys pinched the bridge of his nose.

“No, the only vehicle to leave has been Eivan’s, about a half hour ago.”

Boris groaned.

Myka rubbed his forehead with his palm. “I just saw him about fifteen minutes ago. No way was he at the billboard.” Worry licked in his belly.

Rhys ended the call. “We know where they went.”

Myka shook his head. “They wouldn’t.”

Boris and Rhys gave him an incredulous look. Boris pulled off his shirt. “Nix and Fre? Yeah they would.”

Rhys toed off a boot. “We can cut them off if we use the trail by the lake. They’re driving. They have to take the roads and the long way around.”

Myka unbuttoned his pants and his brothers stopped to watch him. Boris cocked his head.

“Weren’t you listening the first time? Tee is with them!” Myka huffed the reminder.

Boris and Rhys glanced at each other and smiled.
