Chapter 5

Selene

The hour with Lucky the night before did something to me. It re-infused hope into the center of my soul somehow. He'd wanted more than sex, and honestly, I did too, but for now, it would have to do. I ran my hands down over my tummy and cupped myself as I lay in the confines of my warm bed. He'd felt so fucking good with his body pressed to mine, his soft lips running along my neck, his hands so damn greedy.

I groaned and turned onto my stomach, humping the bed a few times.

"I love you so much, you sexy beast," I mumbled before sitting up and laughing.

I would have to make sure to keep the uptick in my emotions to myself, though. My father would notice the infusion of life inside of me if I wasn't careful.

Lucky hadn't come the night before, but that was because he was protecting himself from further loss. I'd almost lamented over the fact, but let it go and got dressed instead. I wasn't sure what my day would include, but getting out of the house and away from my father was at the top of the list. I needed a decoy, an excuse to get away from him and my dicked-up family as fast as possible.

I checked my phone, moving through my e-mails as I pulled open the door to my room and ignored my cousin, Paz. Someone was always stationed outside of my room when I was home, though it seemed a ridiculous waste of everyone's time. My father made it seem as if it was for my protection, but we all knew better. He didn't trust me.

Smart old man.

I loved him, but truth be told... I didn't trust him much, either.

Dante walked out of the office at the far end of the hall as I made my way to the front door. I stopped as he called out to me, but didn't turn around.

"Selene. Your father wants us to head toward the old waterfalls that he said you used to play in as a child. Any clue what he's talking about?"

I opened the front door and looked over my shoulder. Dante looked nice in his slick navy suit and bright red tie, but he was a disgrace to all bikers everywhere. I had on jeans, a tight set of tank tops, shit kickers and a designer belt for effect.

"I know where it is." I let my eyes move down the length of him. "Surely you're not wearing that."

"I am." He smirked and moved toward me. "You know you like it. I see the way you're eye-fucking me, girl."

I chuckled and walked out onto the porch of the club house. "You wish, mister."

"Soon, Selene. Soon you'll be mine, and then that little part of you that's missing all the time will be completely fulfilled. It's me, baby. I'm the one you're looking for." He reached out and grabbed my arm, pulling me back. The force of him jerking me caused me to flatten against the front of him.

How many times had I been in similar situations in the last year? Too many to count, for sure.

"Wrong girl, love." I patted his chest and pulled out of his grasp. "Keep up today, or I'll leave your sharp-dressed ass in the dust."

"Big words for a little girl." He chuckled and got on his large hog next to mine. "When are you going to let me get you a real bike? You look like a little girl riding that thing."

I looked down at my bike as I held my helmet out in front of me. "Are you kidding? This thing is ass-kicking hot. I love it."

"I don't." He pulled on his helmet, effectively ending the conversation, which was fine by me. I hated the sound of his voice anyway. The silence was a welcome reprieve.

***

We arrived at the falls about forty-five minutes later. I wasn't ready to stop. Had my father and most of my cousins not been watching us as we pulled up, I'd have turned around and high-tailed it out of there. No fucking way I wanted a part of anything they were up to. And by the looks of things, it was big.

Dante parked his bike and got off, pulling his helmet off and waiting for me.

I did the same and lifted my eyebrow at him. “Any clue what this is all about?"

"Nope, but we should probably tread lightly. I've never seen your father pull together the club outside of the clubhouse." He shrugged and extended his hand to me. I took it simply because I knew it would please my father, and getting started on the right foot seemed important for whatever was headed our way.

"Butterfly. Dante." My father lifted his hands as his voice boomed over the dense coverage of trees. He was forever dramatic, and where I’d loved it as a kid, as a woman it quickly grated my nerves. He was a wolf in sheep's clothing.

"Boss," Dante responded, but I held my tongue, only nodding to acknowledge that I'd heard my dad.

"We're here for your patch ceremony. Both of you have gone above and beyond our expectations, and we'll be bringing you in as  full-fledged members of the club today." My father moved to pull me into a tight hug, pressing his lips to the side of my face and squeezing tightly. "I'm so proud of you, baby."

"Thanks, Boss." I moved past him and walked to the edge of the cliff. I'd only heard tales of what it meant to be a Black Heart, but everything I'd heard was rather terrifying. I guess I thought pledging would take a lot longer, but here we were.

The fact that the Stone Wolves had inducted Lucky the day before left me a little suspicious as to the separateness of the clubs. Surely there wasn't a rat in one of them that leaked information to the other. That would be too much.

"After we go through the rules and duties of the Black Heart, you'll pledge yourself, be branded, and as a sign of your bravery, throw yourself off that cliff. The water's rough, but if you're meant to be one of us... you'll survive." My father’s glanced darted between me and Dante several times.

I forced myself not to react, though my heart began to race and my stomach dropped inside of me. The branding was going to be bad enough, but having to throw myself off a cliff?

Fuck.

I walked toward the edge of the cliff with Dante, and turned to face the whole lot of my cousins. The scowls on their faces were nothing new, but aggravating nevertheless. My father started to talk about the history of our clubs, and how the Stone Wolves were nothing more than a bastardization of the original intent. I zoned out sometime during the speech, but kept my eyes peeled on my Dad.

Lucky took over my inner thoughts. His neediness  of the night before worse than I'd ever seen it on him. I wanted to apologize a million times and kiss away the regret that sat between us, but it wasn't fair to let myself give in. I had no doubt  it would eventually happened, but I hoped like hell it wasn't going to be anytime soon.

Maybe we can just run away together.

Life without him had taken on a dull, distant feel. Just the hour in his arms had re-infused me with color and excitement. I'd never entertained the thought of leaving town before to any real extent because it scared the hell out of me to only have Lucky to lean on. My father, though crazy and quite the villain was still my flesh and blood.

"Do you agree?" My father walked toward us, his deep voice pulling me from my reverie.

"I do." Dante and I echoed one another.

"Good. Then let us brand you both Black Hearts. Just know that if you ever turn your back on us or run that your death is imminent. There is only one way out of this club, and it's in a casket. Don't think that you're above death. You're not. It doesn't matter who the fuck you are. You fuck us over -- any of us, and we will send the reaper after you."

I nodded, not really caring for the melodramatics, though I knew there was truth in my father's warning. He wouldn't have bothered to say it if there wasn’t.

Elec moved up beside me and placed one hand on my back, rubbing softly as he tugged the front of my shirt down to show the top of my left breast. Paz stood next to Dante, doing the same to him.

"With this mark, Selene becomes part of us. Unbreakable and bound," Elec mumbled and the rest of the men echoed him. My father stepped up and pressed a hot poker to my flesh, watching me closely as I trapped a scream inside my throat. I'd never experienced something so painful, but my will was stronger than the need to show emotion. Only slightly, but I held it together.

Dante's turn was next, and I was all of a sudden quite grateful for Elec holding me up. My legs began to shake as the intensity of the burn drove a stake into the center of me.

"Hold it together, Lena," he whispered against my hair and wrapped his arms around me from the side.

I nodded and tried to stay conscious. Falling into the water behind us didn't sound so bad after all. At least, it would be a balm to the fire under my skin. Or so I hoped.

"Turn!" My father yelled and moved in behind me and Dante as we turned to face the cliff. My heart dropped into my stomach and I could have sworn I saw stars. My hands started to shake as I glanced down to the icy water below. It was far too high up to jump from, but we weren't given a choice. It was part of the hazing, and if we wanted into the MC, it was the only way to gain entrance.

Dante reached for my hand, but I pulled away. "I want to do this by myself."

He nodded as my dad placed his hand on my back, and I assume Dante's too. "Welcome. Black Heart."

My father must have known that I wouldn't have the courage to jump, so he didn't make me. He pushed -- hard.

After finally pulling my way out of the cold river below, I hiked back up to my bike on shaky legs and drove home without my helmet. A torrent of emotion rolled through me. I couldn't understand why pride at being a Black Heart would still be part of  the deal, but it was.

Once I reached the house, I wrapped a blanket around my shoulders and climbed up on the roof , needing a few minutes to myself.

The sun had just started to set, and the incredible colors of the scene before me was breathtaking, but I was lost to  numbness. I was a Black Heart. I had the scars to prove it. More now than ever before.

I glanced down as someone roughly whispered my name.

"Selene?"

"What?" I moved to the edge of the roof and peered down. Shock rolled over me as Lucky climbed up the old trellis  beside my window. "Lucas Morrison. What the fuck are you doing? Have you lost your ever-loving mind?"

I moved back as he reached the top, and offered him my hand. He took it, and I pulled hard, bringing him onto the roof with me.

"Yeah. I guess I have." He moved in next to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "You look like a drowned rat."

"Well, shit. Thanks." I huffed, suddenly feeling more like my old self than I had in months.

"You're beautiful beyond what most women dream of being, but you're still sopping wet." He squeezed, pulling me in tighter.

I should have pulled back, but I didn't want to. I laid my head on his shoulder and let out a long sigh.

His voice was soft and close to my ear. "Pledge day?"

I jerked my head up. "How did you know that?"

There had to be a rat. How else?

"It's always the day after ours. Has been since the beginning." He leaned down and pressed his lips against the side of my head. "Tell me to leave and I will."

"Leave." I smiled and turned to pull him in for a kiss.

His lips were soft and a little salty, but the firm press of them against mine warmed me from the inside out, reminding me of a good life and a future.

"No." He smiled and kissed me again.

"But you said you would." I pouted playfully.

"I lied. Let's go in your room and fool around." He wagged his eyebrows.

I couldn't deny him, or maybe I just didn't want to.

Chapter 6

Lucky

It was stupid to go over to her dad's house, but I was ballsy, if nothing else. A good challenge always got my blood pumping, and besides, I wanted more of Lena. She was a drug, and having her the night before left me itchy, moody and needy for more of her.

I squeezed her shoulders once more and kissed the top of her head before studying her. The blanket she held tightly around her was damp, her hair a wet mess of tangles. Nothing could be hotter.

"Come on. It's getting chilly out here. Let's go in your room for a little while." I kissed her again and moved to crawl back to her window, getting inside and offering her a hand as she followed. I half expected her to deny me , but she seemed a little too out of it to muster much more of a rejection than she'd given me on the roof.

"You know this is a horrible idea," she half whispered as she walked to the door and locked it.

The nefarious smile on her pretty pale lips left my heart racing. I hated how much control she had over me, and yet there was nothing I could do about it.

"Of course it is. That's why it's exhilarating." I motioned for her to come to me. "Let me strip you out of those wet clothes."

"I'd like that." She licked at her lips and walked toward me, dropping the blanket and reaching up to touch the side of my face. She pulled me down into a long kiss, and I took my time exploring her mouth as I tugged her against me. It didn't take much more than her looking my way to leave me impossibly hard.

Her fingers brushed by my erection, and I arched my back, pressing against her palm.

"Someone's horny," she mumbled against my lips before pulling back and ripping her wet shirt from her. She flinched, which caused me to examine her closely as I pulled her tank top off and then worked on her bra. The angry red flesh above her left breast left my stomach tight.

"What the fuck is this?" Anger raged through me as I took her by the waist and leaned down to inspect the burn. "Who did this to you?"

"It's the symbol of our patched members, Luck. I'm a little surprised that you haven't seen it before." She started to work on my belt as I stood back up.

"I don't like it. You need to put something on that. It could get infected." I ran my fingers through her hair and looked down into her deep green eyes, wanting to lose myself in her. I'd have to be careful with her. She looked a little pale; tired and sad.

"I will after you leave." She knelt below me, pulling my jeans down over my hips and dragging my underwear with them.

My cock sprang free of my pants, and I let out a long sigh as she wrapped her hands around it and moved in to press wet kisses down the side of it. Slipping my hand back into her hair, I guided her mouth to the thick head and smiled at her.

"You’re beautiful. Did you know that my life hasn't been the same without you? You're all I think about, Lena." I moved her closer as she shook her head, warning me to shut up.

I took the hint.

Watching her fuck me was something magical. Her talent was beyond anything I'd seen before, but it wasn't just her bedroom skills. She loved me. I could see it in the way her eyelids fluttered closed, the way she took small gasps as I moaned, as if the sound of my pleasure sparked her own.

Emotions raped the inside of me as I drew closer and closer to orgasm. She was the one I wanted beside me for the rest of my days; the woman I wanted carrying my babies. We could make such an incredible life together, but without her fully turning from her family, it would never happen.

"Stop, baby. I want to make love to you, not come from a blow job." I tugged her up and pressed a kiss firmly on her mouth.

"Then get to it, handsome." She turned and tugged her jeans off slowly, the wet denim pulling at her flesh as she got naked for me.

I reached out and caressed her rear a few times, loving so much how confident she was in her body.

"Crawl up there and get comfortable." I popped her ass softly and moved back, reaching down and pulling a condom from my jeans. I wasn't leaving today without joining her in a full-blown orgasm. I needed it, and if I knew Selene Delgado, she needed me to have one, too. And I recognized she was capable of forcing such a powerful moment upon me. Much like her old man, she was power hungry, but in a good way. A way I could fully support.

I finished getting the condom on and crawled up the bed to lie on top of her. Her long dark hair splayed out across the pillows above her, wet and shiny.

"I'm glad you came." She reached for me, pulling me up farther as she wrapped her legs around me. "I needed you."

"I haven't come yet, but I'm sure that's about to change." We chuckled as I pressed my warmth against her chilled flesh, pushing myself into her, nice and slow.

The whimper that left her almost tore me in half. Why she didn't just relent and let me have her  was a conversation for another time, but it bothered me. A lot.

Propping my elbows up on either side of her head, I brushed her hair and bent down to press soft kisses all over her face as I continued to make love to her.

Tears blurred her eyes, and I paused only for a moment.

"Baby? You okay?" I kissed the side of her eye where a tear dripped down into her hair.

"Yes, don't stop. Please." She pulled me down and snuggled into my neck, holding me tight, as if she might lose me if she didn't hang on.

"Okay," I whispered against her hair and rocked into her, taking my time to listen for the sound of pleasure I wanted to leak from her lips. She was beautiful and her body so soft and thick in the places it should be. I could never be with another woman after her. She'd ruined me for all time.

She lifted her hips and patted my ass. "Faster. Bring me to come, Luck. I need it. I need you."

"Anything you want, Lena." I slid one hand down her side to press against her hip. Using my grasp as leverage, I picked up the pace and worked her until she jerked, her eyes closing and a silent scream opening her mouth beautifully.

I moved up as I continued to fuck her and pressed my mouth over hers, sliding my tongue deep into her mouth and riding the wave with her as I came hard and fast. We continued to move against each other for a few more seconds, neither of us wanting the moment to be over. It was too good not to prolong it  as much as possible.

She pushed at my chest and smiled. "Get off, you sexy beast."

"I just did, baby. Damn." I smirked and rolled off of her, cleaning myself up and crawling back under the thick white comforter. The room was rather plain, and I was a little surprised. Lena was so full of life, yet by the look of her bedroom, she was nothing more than a guest in the place.

"Come here." I turned her, careful of her burn and pulled her back against my front as I spooned her. Brushing her hair out of the way, I moved in to press my lips to the soft skin below her ear. She shivered and it turned me on more than it shoulder have. I wanted power over no one but her. To know that she reacted to the soft brush of my lips or the deepness in my voice as I commanded her in the throes of passion left me breathless.

"I know you don't want to hear this," I started, "but you need to know."

"Lucky." She pressed her hands to her face. "Please don't."

"No, I need to, baby." I kissed her again and trapped her against me as she tried to get up. "I can't do just sex, Lena. You know how much I love you. I want to offer you the world, but all I have to give is my heart, baby. You have that. Please stop de-"

A loud bag at the door caused my heart to jump in my chest.

"Selene. Open the door, butterfly. I want to check on you." Rafael's voice was loud and full of authority.

"Oh shit." Lena pulled from me and moved to the edge of the bed, chucking my clothes at me and trying to get her own back on.

"Get something dry, for shit's sake." I motioned toward the bathroom as I got up and scrambled to get dressed.

"Just a minute, Dad. I'm naked. I was soaking wet... remember?" She barked toward the door and turned a worried look back toward me. "Get the fuck out of here.” She mouthed. “Now."

I finished tugging my shit-kickers on and nodded. "Fine, but this isn't over. I love you. Plain and fucking simple."

"Selene!" Rafael barked again. "Is someone in there with you? Let me in right now, goddamn it. I'll tear this fucking door down."

Crossing the room, I pulled my girl into a warm hug and made love to her mouth while she melted against me. Rafael would have to beat the fucking door down. I didn't care. I wanted one more kiss.

She pushed at my chest as the first real smile I witnessed from her since our breakup spread across her pretty face. "Get out. Shit. You hear him turning into a complete psycho."

"Love you." I moved to the window and paused, turning to face her. I narrowed my eyes and let them rake across her as she put her hands on the thick swell of her hips.

"Don't make me say it." She shook her head as tears filled her eyes again.

"Okay." I winked and crawled out on the roof, being careful to search the property before dropping down the side of the trellis. My MC would kick my ass for putting myself in such danger, but they would never know. Besides, it wouldn't just be the danger that would have me limping around for days. The fact that I was in love with the daughter of the rival MC was a big damn deal, too.

I knew needed to come clean with Blade, if no one else. The guy was like a father to me. Above all else, he wanted what was best for me. That was Lena, without a doubt.

Having barely made it down the trellis when the front door swung open, I took a sharp about-face and jogged toward the shed at the back of the house. It smelled like rotting meat out there, and while I was curious, I realized  now wasn't the time, even though everything inside of me beckoned me to stop and find out what the fuck had happened in there.

Rafael and his boys obviously knew something was up, though I had no doubt  my pretty girl would throw them off my track. Jogging through the forest the long way, I breathed in deeply with a stark realization: Lena and I would be back together soon. She might placate herself with the need for sex, but the way she held onto me and whimpered beneath me, I knew it was so much more than that.

The next step in the plan was to bring her to admit that her father was a monster in the worst sense. I prayed like hell  it was something I could do without her having to fully experience it. If she got put into too many more situations like the ones she'd suffered  to prove her loyalty to the MC in the past... I was going to go ape-shit and start shooting people.

All I could do was hope  it didn't come  to that.
