Acknowledgments

For someone who’s been dreaming of having her novel published since she was twelve, I now find myself rendered rather speechless. Nevertheless, here we go!

First and foremost, to Wattpad. Without you, none of this would’ve been possible. The work you guys do is incredible. Thank you, thank you, thank you. To all my readers who commented and gave me endless encouragement—thank you. Every comment made my day that much brighter, and this novel might not be here without you.

To the incredible team at Sourcebooks, especially Aubrey Poole and Kate Prosswimmer, who always knew how to make Ava Hale’s story better. Thanks for taking a chance on me.

Thanks to Diane Dannenfeldt and my production editor, Elizabeth Boyer, for pointing out my (sometimes embarrassingly obvious) errors.

Thank you to my amazing parents, Coralie and Milton, for always believing in me—even when I didn’t. Thanks for putting up with me, and sorry for all the gray hairs I’ve caused over the years. To Rhys and Andrea, for all the love and support. Rhys, you’re the best big brother I could’ve asked for. To Jo, John, Wilson (Look, Wilson, you’re in a book—once you’re older, you’ll realize how truly epic that is!), and Lin, whose enthusiasm never failed to warm me. To Grandpa and Darleen, for your endless excitement and love. Grandpa: your tidbits and stories inspire me more than you can possibly realize. To Alex and Narelle, for the encouragement and the support. Alex, you’re going to be a wonderful teacher. To my godmother, Rea: your kindness, generosity, and support make me want to be a better person. Thank you.

To Helen and John Terzis. Wherever you are now, I hope you’re proud of me.

To Nataysia, talented writer and even better friend—thank you. I’m very grateful to call you my friend.

And finally—thank you to anyone reading this. Thanks for giving this book a chance.
