Give Me Fever (12 page)

Chapter 12

The moon was full and so large that it seemed a child could reach, grab, and hug it close to their chest. It was perfectly framed by the dark shadowy outline of the tips of the towering trees and the brilliant sparkles of stars. Definitely a beautiful scene.

But Jade Prince saw none of its grandeur as she tossed, turned, writhed, and moaned in the middle of herbed…deeply in sleep…and completely aroused.

Jade slid her hand down the length of the leather thigh-high boot she wore after she slowly pulled up the zipper. She placed her hands on her bare hips as she stood tall at the foot of the black satin-covered bed in the center of the woods. Surrounded by the sounds of night and nature, she eased her hands over the smooth, deep mocha of her nude body.

Lying in the center of the bed with his hands and feet lightly strapped with torn cloth, Kaeden’s hungry eyes missed not one single sensual movement.

The slight jiggle of her breasts as she massaged them.

The way her nipples hardened as she teased them.

The goose bumps racing over her curvaceous frame.

The sight of her hands easing over her wide hips and the tops of her shapely thighs.

He had to lean his head a bit to the left to see past his growing erection as it stretched and reached for the night sky.

“See something you like?” Jade asked with a purr as she pressed one foot onto the end of the bed and then used her hand to press her knee back, opening herself to him. With a lick of her lips, she ran her finger across her intimate lips before opening them to expose her core.

“Hell yeah,” Kaeden told her, then licked his bottom lip as he wrapped his hand around his shaft and stroked the length of it before he massaged the smooth, thick tip.

Jade laughed softly as she walked around the bed to stand by his side. “You are blessed, Kaeden,” she told him as she eyed his hardness and licked her lips as if hungry.

She reached out slowly and stroked Kaeden’s thigh. It quivered.

She shifted up until his maleness was in her hands. It stiffened at her touch.

She grabbed him just a bit tighter around the base and she knew he liked it as his eyes glazed over. “This is mine,” she told him with just enough force in her voice to make it interesting.

“Then get what’s yours,” he ordered her as he lifted his hips to pump his dick inside her fist.

Jade spread her legs and bent down slowly until her open and panting mouth was just above the heated, throbbing tip of his dick. She inhaled deeply of his unique scent before easing the smooth tip against her lips. “Hmm,” she moaned as she kept her eyes locked with his.

“Suck it,” he ordered thickly.

Jade shook her head and licked it slowly instead, enjoying the smooth feel of it against the tip of her tongue as she enjoyed it like a treat. “Say please,” she demanded huskily, enjoying the thrill of their play.

“Please,” he begged shakily.

And with a moan she did, slowly taking the thick and lengthy hardness of him until his silvery hairs tickled her lips.

“Aaah!” Kaeden hollered out as his body arched, only his bound limbs keeping him from fully springing up off the bed.

Jade smiled around the width of him as she worked her head up and down. She circled her tongue around the tip before sucking it deeply between her pressed lips.

“Shit,” Kaeden swore, tugging at his bonds.

Jade reached down to press her fingers against her own moist bud.

Kaeden watched the move and he gasped in pure pleasure as her hips jerked. “Untie me,” he told her forcefully.

Jade shook her head and deep throated him again.

“Ahhhh!” he cried out, closing his eyes tightly as his muscles tensed as he fought to break the ties.

And they did break.

First the left and then the right.

Kaeden sat up and swiftly picked Jade up by her hips.

She shifted her hands from her slickly wet bud and roughly pushed them against his lips. His head shifted to the right as he captured her moist fingers with his mouth and sucked the juice from them. “Mmm,” he moaned, closing his eyes.

Jade straddled his hips, his shiny hardness standing straight up and ready for Kaeden to arch up and fill her in one swift thrust.

“Ahhh!” they cried out.

“Yes, Kaeden. Yes…yes…yes….”

“Yes. Yes.” Jade stirred in her sleep. Her head thrashed back and forth on the pillow as her heart beat furiously and her clit throbbed with a life force all its own. “Get it, Kaeden—”

She gasped. Her eyes popped open. She panted through her open mouth. A fine layer of sweat covered her entire body. Her short nightie was up around her waist. Her panties were shoved to the side…and her hands were pressed intimately between her legs.

Jade released a heavy breath as she closed her eyes and shook her head at herself. “Good grief,” she muttered, rolling out of bed like she’d discovered a snake beneath the covers.

Why was that one night with Kaeden Strong haunting and taunting her?

The sun was just starting to break through the trees and Jade wished she had a tour or some work to do. There was no way she could sit around her little cottage with nothing but hot memories of Kaeden and one night in the forest. She rushed through a shower, threw on running shorts, a tank, and her sneakers. She went out the door jogging and she didn’t stop until she jogged around the long, winding curve to her grandfather’s.

I just hope he didn’t go fishing
, she thought, finally slowing down to a walk as she made her way up the paved driveway to his house.

She smiled to find Esai in the large garden in the backyard. The rows and rows were filled with fruits, vegetables, and plenty of herbs—to cook and to use for his herbal remedies. “Hey there, old man,” she said as she walked up to him.

Esai rose to his full height and brushed some of the dirt from his hands on the front of his jeans. “Just who I wanted to see,” he said, bending down a bit so that she could give him the customary kiss on the cheek. He called it his own little blessing from an angel.

Jade loved her grandfather to pieces.

“You needed something?” she asked as he moved over to the rinse sink at the rear of the house.

“Nope, I just wanted to see you,” he told her with a hint of a smile as he cast her a sidelong glance.

Jade wrapped her arms around herself and watched him rinse the vegetables in the basket. “I wanted to see you too,” she told him when he walked up to her. She wrapped her free hand around his arm as they made their way toward the large wraparound porch. She thought of Kaeden and her face became pensive as she bit her bottom lip. She thought of the dream that sent her running to the safety of her grandfather.

Mmmm…

She tripped over her own steps at the sound of her moaning in pleasure echoing inside her head. Her dreams were still chasing her down.

“Something on your mind?” her grandfather asked.

Mmmm…

Jade shook her head to clear it. “No, nothing. Well, not really. Kinda. Sorta.”

Esai laughed. “Come on. Get it together.”

Jade followed him up the steps.
What do I say? I’m dating one guy and feigning for another?
She released a heavy sigh. “It’s nothing. I’ll work it all out in my head.”

Esai leveled his eyes on her before he sat down in one of the rocking chairs and started peeling a tomato with a pocket knife. “The best advice I can give you—even though you’re not asking—is honesty is the best policy. Whatever it is, stay honest to your feelings and you can’t go wrong deciding what to do.”

Jade reached down into the basket and pulled out a long and thick cucumber that was ridiculously similar to Kaeden’s…
attribute
. Even down to the curve. The bud between her legs swelled with life.
Kaeden
really
is blessed
.

Really.

Mmmm…

Jade’s mouth opened a bit as she looked down at the phallic vegetable in her hand.
And the things he did to me with that blessing. Have mercy….

“You hear me, Jade?” he asked.

Jade looked up at him with eyes glazed over from the heated memory and a desire to relive it…again…and again…and again. “Huh?” she asked, completely lost in the heated thoughts.

Her grandfather’s eyes squinted as he looked at her. “Something going on between you and Darren?” Esai asked.

Not something. Someone. His name is Kaeden
, she thought as she forced a smile to her face. “Nothing I can’t handle, Grandpa.”

They fell silent as she dropped the cucumber back into the basket and pulled out a tomato for her grandfather to peel for her. “Why don’t I cook?” Jade offered, wanting to change the subject. She rose to her feet. “You feel like some grits?”

“That boy likes you more than you like him, Jade,” Esai said simply before easing a slice of tomato into his open mouth.

Jade paused in the doorway.
Say what? Say who?
She turned and looked down at her grandfather calmly eating his tomato.

“You have him ’round here behind you like a lapdog,” he added for good measure.

“Grandpa, that’s not true,” Jade protested…halfheartedly.

“Sometimes friends should not become lovers.”

“We’re not lovers,” she protested instantly.

“Surprise, surprise,” he drawled.

Jade opened her mouth and then closed it, before she turned and walked into the house. As she made her way to the kitchen, she thought about how easy it had been for her to be with Kaeden when she had known Darren for years and dated him for a few weeks.

Kaeden? Lid off the cookie jar quicker than the snap of fingers.

Darren? Cookie jar closed. And tight too.

Her grandfather said that honesty was the best policy—whether with herself or someone else. She knew he was right. It was time for some honest reflection. It was time to deal with her attraction for Kaeden Strong once and for all.

As she pulled eggs and bacon from the fridge, her cell phone vibrated against her hip. She grabbed it and flipped it open in one fluid motion. “Hello.”

“Hey, Jade. Listen, I need to talk to you.”

She paused in placing the food on the counter. “I’m at my grandfather’s. Can this wait?” she asked. “No.”

Jade closed her eyes and used her now-cold fingertips to squeeze the bridge of her nose. “Darren—”

“I’m sitting in your yard,” he told her, his voice hard.

“A phone call first would have been nice,” she snapped, annoyed at his attitude.

“Well, I’m calling now,” he snapped back.

“Negro, have you lost your mind talking to me like that?”

Silence.

“Listen, Jade, it’s important, okay? Could you just come down here and let’s talk.”

“Fine, Darren, I’m on my way.” She closed the phone and released a deep breath.

Jade left the house. “Can I hold your pickup, Grandpa? I’ll be right back,” she told him not even waiting on an answer as she flew past him and jogged down the stairs to hop into his navy Ford F150.

As she drove the short distance around the curve toward her cottage, Jade knew that this conversation was about Kaeden. She just knew it.

He was leaning against his truck parked off to the side in her front yard as she turned her grandfather’s truck in. She kept her eyes on him as she hopped out and walked over to him. “Morning,” she greeted him as she squinted her almond-shaped eyes against the sun.

Darren shoved his hands into the front pockets of his jeans as he looked down at her. “What happened between you and Kaeden that night?”

Straight. No chaser.

Jade jiggled her keys in her hand. “You want to go inside?” she asked as she turned from him.

“What happened with you and Kaeden that night, Jade?” he asked again.

She turned to face him. “You don’t have any right to question me, Darren,” she told him in a soft but firm voice.

The look on his face was incredulous. “I have every damn right.”

Jade shook her head slowly. “No. No, you don’t. Are we married? Are we…engaged? Are we exclusive? That’s a no, a no, and another no.”

“I haven’t been seeing anyone else, Jade,” he yelled.

Jade took a step back and looked at him like he was crazy. “I never asked you to do that, Darren. We were just dating, hanging out, chilling, spending time.”

“About to go to Savannah and share a room,” he added sarcastically as he pushed up off the truck.

“Exactly. We were about to go to the next level but hadn’t
yet
, Darren. You just proved my point that you don’t have any right to question me.”

“What happened that night?” he asked.

Jade released a heavy breath.

“What happened that night?” he asked again, taking a step forward to tower over her.

Honesty is the best policy, Jade.

Not this time Grandpa
, she thought, pushing aside his advice. “Darren, just go home,” she told him, turning to walk away from him.

She felt the sudden grip of his hand on her arm and she turned to eye first his offending hand and then his eyes. “Get your hands off me, Darren,” she told him in a tone that could freeze water.

“Did you sleep with him that night, Jade?” he volleyed, just as coldly.

Jade snatched away from his grasp. “Leave, Darren.”

“Yes or no. It’s simple.”

Although Jade knew she’d done nothing wrong, she still felt guilt flush over her. The look on his face changed from angry to incredulous and she knew something that hinted at the truth shone through in her eyes. She reached out to touch his arm. “Darren—”

It was his turn to snatch away from her. “So I’m ’round here with the dry dick syndrome and you giving it up to some fool in the woods?
That’s
how you get down?”
