“Kiss me, beautiful,” he said, dragging her forward and engulfing her mouth with his.

Angel sucked against his tongue, nipped gently at his lips, and sighed against his mouth as she continued to move gently up and down his cock. It felt exquisite being inside her, and he wanted to savour every moment. Angel broke away from his kiss and leant back against Christian’s now-raised knees. He groaned as she ran her hands over her breasts and began to tease her nipples as he watched. He thrust upward with his hips, trying to get her to move faster, but she kept her slow, savouring pace against him. Angel moaned erotically as a gentle orgasm rolled over her. Her cunt convulsing around him was pure delight.

Christian loved the way she tempted him. He wanted to slam into her wildly but was mesmerised by her as her body shuddered its pleasure over his erection. She played with her nipples seductively and smiled down at him, her eyes smouldering with lust as one hand went to her clit and began to slide against it in the same slow rhythm that she teased him with. Another wave of pleasure swept over her, causing her cunt to begin to spasm around him once again.

“You are so beautiful.” He spoke sensually as he rose up to meet the downward thrust of her hips. “But I won’t let you tease me like this forever, baby. A man has his limits.”

Angel leant forward and began sliding along the full length of his cock rather than the slow, shallow thrusts she had done before. Christian cupped her breasts in his hands and toyed with her nipples, rolling the erect little buds firmly between his fingers. He delighted in her cries of satisfaction and longed to hear more of them.

“Fuck me then,” Angel whispered in reply.

Christian grabbed her hips and slammed her down onto him, causing Angel to moan pleasurably. He raised his hips and began to pump inside her, slowly increasing the pace, faster and deeper until she began to come harder than she had before. Angel met each upward thrust, raising slightly and placing her hand on his chest to take him deeper. Her cunt squeezed around him, sucking and teasing him to explode inside her. Christian felt Angel shudder and push against him as she continued to come. He kept up the fast rhythm as he fucked her, slamming into her as he held her hips tight, now limiting her movement against him. Angel shuddered violently, and Christian felt her juices wash over his cock as she repeatedly orgasmed around him. He moaned his own release, thrusting into her with short, sharp jerks.
Fucking incredible.
He felt Angel clench around him tightly, her body shivering in spent delight as she slumped, panting heavily, onto his chest.

“I like that sort of morning wake-up call. It’s so much better than an alarm clock,” Christian joked as he held her against him.

“I’m glad.” Angel laughed. “I wanted to make sure you remembered me while you were at work.”

Even though Christian returned to work two days after Angel had come to stay with them, he hadn’t had a chance to do the one thing that he wanted to do before his next few days off. He had wanted to run his police checks on her, but the last three days had been too hectic. Cases needed to be finalised, and new ones were waiting to have more detectives assigned. He was hoping for a slower day today where he could start his private investigation. Christian had three teams of detectives under his supervision. He was the youngest superintendent in the state, having been promoted over men that were not only older but had served in the force for a lot longer than him. He often missed the stimulation of getting out and doing the grunt work of investigations, but his role as superintendent did allow him valuable flexibility. He would still attend the high-profile crime scenes, but now he ran multiple cases, supervising and often directing the other detectives. His superior standing gave him greater access to database information and less questioning of how he spent his time. His performance was judged on results, not how much time he spent in the office behind a desk. As long as Christian kept his teams in line, got the job done, and completed paperwork and briefings on time, he pretty much ran his own show.

Christian sat behind his desk, looking at the information he had copied from Angel’s wallet. He didn’t expect to find much. It was obvious that Angel had a past history that involved poor choice in men, but that wasn’t a crime by any means.

He began by looking for the basics. She had no sign of a criminal record apart from a few speeding tickets, and nothing came up in relation to her father or siblings either. Christian hadn’t really expected to find anything, but to ease both Daniel’s and his own minds, it was important for him to look. Christian knew that finding nothing would make Daniel happy, but it would increase his frustration at having to rely on Angel to tell them the details of her life. Angel was a wonderful woman, a little vague about her past and not really forthcoming with family information, but then, as he and Daniel had discussed, not everyone is as open as they were. If Angel had been involved in hurtful past relationships, then she may simply want to forget them and not feel the need to discuss that with new lovers. Christian thought about some of the women he and Daniel had known over the years. There were certainly a few women he would not want to discuss with anyone and would rather forget. Maybe Angel felt the same.

As an afterthought, Christian decided to run a search on Angel’s current address. It probably wouldn’t give him any information, but if the home was of interest to any case old or new, then he would get an activity report. He would have liked to be able to search Angel’s ex partner, but, as he had no information on him, that was an impossibility. After entering the home address information, he minimised the search screen and started to read his e-mails. He became easily distracted with the recurring thought that he should be doing a search for information on Angel’s ex. It was likely Angel’s ex was the key in Christian’s mind that would unlock the information they needed. He had no idea why the thought wouldn’t leave him, but based on his years as a detective, he knew that if he got a feeling this strong he should follow it. Christian wasn’t sure how long Angel had been single for but assumed a number of months. Still, he had no idea what her ex’s name was. He knew that Angel and her ex weren’t married, so it was no good searching Wylde to try and find information about him. He wished he had some idea of the type of men Angel had been with, believing it may give him an idea of the sort of life she had led until now. The only lover Christian had some information on was the stooge she had been caught out with in the motel. And, according to Daniel, the guy had been nothing like the sort of man you would expect a woman of Angel’s age and nature to be with.

He considered ringing Daniel for the man’s details when his own phone rang. Angel’s voice chirped a happy hello as he answered. Christian relaxed back in his chair, listening to her chatter and answering any questions as best he could. She sounded like she hadn’t stopped working since both men had left the house this morning, explaining she had completed the washing, dusted, vacuumed, mopped, and was soon going to head down the street to buy some grocery items. Christian reiterated once more to Angel that she wasn’t expected to clean, and as usual Angel was adamant that she needed to keep busy. Christian decided just to let her carry on doing whatever she felt was necessary. The fact that Angel was going to go out by herself had him a little worried, not because he didn’t think she was capable, but she really didn’t know the area and he was concerned she may get herself lost. Christian knew Angel was appeasing him by promising to ring him the instant she got back home from shopping, and until she knew the area better, he happily accepted her promise of a call.

Christian turned back to his computer. He would have loved to sit there and daydream about Angel, but he wasn’t getting paid for that. An orange alert at the corner of his desktop caught his eye. As he clicked the tab open, he realised it was the search he had conducted on Angel’s address. Ah, she must live in a house with a history, he thought as he began to read. Nothing could have prepared him for what he was about to find or where that information would lead him.

Angel’s house was listed in the computer due to a recently closed investigation into the death of a Caucasian male, aged fifty-five. The incident occurred thirteen weeks ago, and the victim was one Samuel Barnard. The death was not deemed as suspicious after no evidence of foul play was discovered. Samuel Barnard had committed suicide, found hanged in the garage of his home. Christian was perplexed. This must be Angel’s ex, but why had she not told them he was dead? Angel had never corrected either Daniel or himself when they had spoken of her ex leaving her, and she had most definitely never mentioned suicide. Three months was not a long time to work through your grief at the loss of a loved one. Christian couldn’t even begin to fathom it.

Not only did Angel not seem to be grieving, she barely mentioned anything about her ex at all. He flicked over the initial crime scene pictures and was shocked to see two things. Firstly, the home was dingy, old, and falling down. He checked that he had entered Angel’s correct address. He had. He couldn’t imagine his Angel having to live in a place like that. Of course, apart from the garage, there were no other pictures of inside the home, but the house certainly did not meet his idea of comfort. The second thing to shock him was Samuel himself. Yes, he looked older, but more importantly he looked quite tough and street-ready in appearance. Samuel’s arms were covered in tattoos. He was bald and large framed. Even dead Samuel Barnard looked mean. Christian hit the key for a new search and typed in Samuel Barnard’s details from the previous report. It didn’t take long for him to get a hit back on the man who used to live with Angel.

Samuel Barnard had a rap sheet a mile long, including drug possession, theft, arson, and assault. This man was definitely no saint. The mug shot revealed a man that looked even meaner than Christian had initially thought. He had a hard edge to his appearance, cruel eyes. How did Angel ever get involved with a man like this? Christian scrolled through the list of assault charges, reading each one carefully. Samuel had done minimal time in gaol for a few of the charges, but considering the severity of some of the assaults, the punishment definitely didn’t seem to fit the crime. Victims withdrew their charges of assault, refused to give evidence, or disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Christian froze as he came across an assault from three years ago. It was a charge relating to a thirty-one-year-old woman named Angela Wild. The assault had taken place at a train station car park. It had been witnessed by two railway attendants who had called police. The young woman had been physically assaulted. Her injuries included a fractured cheek bone and some broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, a deep laceration at the base of her throat, and a stab wound to her shoulder, both of which had required surgery. Witnesses described the man and identified him as Samuel, but the victim refused to press charges against her de facto partner.

Christian realised that sometimes mistakes are made, particularly when taking down names or entering information into the computer, but surely it would just be a coincidence that the name was so similar to Angel’s. She didn’t strike him as the type of woman who would stay with a man that had assaulted her so severely. The mouse pointer trembled on the screen as it hovered over the crime photos’ tab. Christian felt sick as he clicked the tab to reveal the pictures he didn’t want to see. It was Angel. She was battered and bruised, her eyes swollen and black, and there was a line of stiches across the base of her throat and another set on her shoulder blade. How could anyone hurt his Angel like that? Christian looked back at the mug shot, seething with anger. If the guy hadn’t already killed himself, Christian would have hunted down and ended the creep’s life today.

Given the new information he had found, Christian typed the name
Angela Wild
into the database and hoped he didn’t find anything else. Once the results were displayed, Christian was pleased to find it was only the assault record that appeared. He was, however, a little surprised to see that exactly seven days ago her file had been updated, listing her address as unknown. He pondered the updated status. There was no reason for it to have been changed unless someone had reported her missing, but there was no active missing person case on file. In fact, she had no current investigations, no criminal record at all, just the assault three years ago. He remembered that there had also been no mention of Angel or Angela in the information pertaining to the death of Samuel Barnard, which Christian thought was questionable.

Christian needed Daniel to search medical records for him. He wanted to be sure there were no lasting problems from the assault on Angel, and if there had been one assault by the prick she lived with, there may have been more. Daniel would be able to gain access to Angel’s public medical history. Anything she had been treated for in the public hospital system would be available at the touch of a button. Christian knew Daniel wasn’t exactly happy about him taking Angel’s information to run a police search, which was possibly why Daniel hadn’t offered to run a medical search. However, now that Christian had discovered this information, he knew Daniel would be easily convinced to do a little detective work of his own.
