Hell On An Angel (Fated Love Book 2) (9 page)

I raised my brow at her and sat up a little. “What?”

Jasmine just snorted and rolled her eyes. “Oh, please. You don’t think Mr. Ego brought you all that do you? You’re blonde, but I didn’t think you were stupid. Tim brought you all of it. I know because he called me and asked for your sizes.”

I sat back in the chair and looked down at the floor. “I thought it was Morgan…”

“No, it was Tim.” I just nodded and chewed on my lip. The thought that it was Tim hadn’t even occurred to me, but it wasn’t hard to believe.

“What’s going on with you, Maddie?” I lifted my shoulders in a shrug and let them fall.

“You know he is leaving, right?” She continued. My heart sank and I leant forward, resting my elbows on my knees, my face buried in my hands. This is what I wanted, right? Then why did it hurt so damn bad? “What do I do, Jas?”

Jasmine sighed and moved over to kneel in front of me. “Only you know the answer to that, Maddie, but you really need to think about what you are giving up if you let Tim walk away.”

“But what if I let Morgan walk away?”

Jasmine rested her hand on my knee. “Honey... he isn’t your what if. He is the fun story you tell about when your life changed. I know you, Maddie. I know what you aren’t saying, so out with it.”

I looked up at Jasmine and thought about her words and what was going through my head. Morgan IS my what if. Tim is my what could have been. Didn’t I owe it to Morgan to see if this could turn into something more? I could see myself falling for him. I closed my eyes. He was a great guy, but… “He isn’t mine, Jas. I have to let him go.”

“Who?” She raised a brow. I shook my head and stood up. Crossing the room, I walked to the door and opened it. Standing in front of both of their doors, I looked between the two of them. I turned my head to look over my shoulder at Jasmine, who had her arms crossed over her chest, leaning against the door. Jasmine nodded at me and I moved to knock on Tim’s door. As I did, another door opened. Jesus Christ. Does everyone need to be in on this?

Daniel stepped into the hall. “You won’t find him. He left.” For the second time, my heart sank. I whipped around to Jasmine. “You said he was leaving. Not left!”

“I thought he was waiting!” I turned to look back at Daniel. “How long?!” I asked.

“He only just left.” I didn’t wait for anything else. Running to the elevator, I called it to our floor with the push of a button. Getting in when it finally arrived, I closed the doors and hit the ground floor button. Please, let him still be there. Please. When it finally got to the bottom, I stepped out and looked around the lobby for any sign of him. I moved quickly across the floor and outside onto the street. Looking up and down and still not seeing him, I turned to go and ask reception if they had seen him when I saw him coming from the stairs. I let out a sigh of relief and rushed over to him.

Tim looked up at me in surprise. “Maddie? Are you okay?”

I swallowed the lump in my throat and moved my hands to his cheeks. “Please don’t leave me again. I know what I am doing isn’t fair on either of you, and I don’t expect this has been easy to watch, but someone made me open my eyes and see the big picture. I am always going to choose you. Please, please don’t leave me again. If you can’t give me everything then tell me now. I am not putting my heart back on the line for you to break it again.”

Tim sighed and pulled me closer. “Maddie, if I had my way then I never would have left or you would have known I was coming back for you. When I didn’t hear anything, I thought that was you telling me it was over. It’s always been you, Snowflake. No one else will ever get me like you do. I am as hooked now as I was back then.”

Without another word, Tim kissed me. It was slow at first then built in passion. It was the kind of kiss I had been hoping for. It told me more than his words did… He was and still is my person.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Ghost

Seeing Maddie come toward the door I had just walked out of made my heart fly out of my chest. What was she doing here? Wasn’t she supposed to be with Morgan right now? When she cupped my cheeks and told me if I couldn’t give her everything then to tell her now, I pulled her close to me. How could she think that? I would give her the world if I could. Dropping my head and pressing my lips against hers, I let my emotions take over and hopefully give her the answer she needed with that, rather than the words I was having trouble with. My problem with Maddie was, she turned me into a bumbling idiot who couldn’t string a sentence together. Pulling back to look down at her, I gave her the smile that she loved so much.

“Can I go for my walk now, Snowflake?” She shoved me hard and I chuckled and pulled her back to me. Dropping my head, I pressed my lips to her neck.

“I’m sorry I didn’t thank you for my bracelet. I had no idea you would remember.”

“I told you there wasn’t a thing about you that I didn’t remember.” She nodded softly and I pulled back again to look down at her. “I thought the engraving would have given that away…” I told her.

“What engraving?” I moved my hand to the wrist she was still wearing the bracelet on and turned the heart over, showing her what I’d had engraved. ‘Always and forever ~ T’. I pressed my lips to her wrist and let it go again as I wrapped her back in my arms.

“I am such an idiot. I didn’t even think.” I looked down and saw the frown on her face.

“Hey, that’s my Snowflake you’re talking about. I know she is anything but an idiot. Maybe next time I will make sure to put a card with it though.” She shoved me again and I couldn’t help but laugh. I tucked her into my side and kissed her temple as I walked up to the elevator. If I had her in my arms, I wouldn’t think about where I was.

Reaching our floor, I moved towards our rooms. When she stopped in front of Morgan’s door, Maddie looked up at me and I kissed her softly before giving her a nod.

“It’s the right thing to do.”

She gave me a nod and moved to knock on his door. Taking my card from my pocket, I left her to her privacy and went into my room. The door hadn’t shut yet when I heard a knock and it was opened all the way again. I turned to see a stressed looking Lucas.

“What’s wrong?” Instead of telling me, Lucas held his phone out to me and I saw the text from Morgan telling them to book the first flight out.

“How solid are you, Ghost?”

“I don’t think she is gonna run into his arms if that’s what you are asking.”

“Where is she?”

“Breaking the news of who she chose.” He gave me a nod and rubbed his face.

“Dude, relax, okay. She isn’t going to keep going back and forth between us. She knows how she feels.”

“Is she sure about that?”

“I am.” I saw him relax a little before another knock on my door. Lucas moved to open it and saw Jasmine standing there. “No offence guys, but I look forward to the day when there is no one knocking on my door.” Jasmine gave me a grin and moved to hug me. Giving her a tight squeeze, I whispered “thank you” in her ear. Jasmine squeezed me tighter.

“Just make sure you have a spare room for me for when I come to visit.”

“Always, Jazzybee.” I looked up and looked at Lucas.

“If you ever need a change from superstars, Lucas, I’ll make room for ya with my misfits.” Jasmine moved out of the way when he moved over to me and fist bumped before giving me a one armed hug. He pulled away when there was yet another knock on my door and Jasmine moved to open it.

“So this is where the party is.” I couldn’t help but grin when I heard the sound of Maddie’s voice. When she walked into the room, I opened up my arms and she moved into them.

“Now it’s a party.” I said with a kiss to her lips.

“Get a room you two!”

I looked up at Jasmine and smirked, “You’re in it.” Jasmine just snorted and rolled her eyes playfully. I looked up when Lucas spoke.

“Did Morgan break the news, Maddie?” She nodded and leant her head against my chest. “Yeah, but I don’t think it will be long until we are out there, so I’m sure you and Tim can rekindle your bromance, Luke.”

“That’s right, Timmy Boy is coming home to see my Mama.”

I couldn’t help but cringe at Jasmine’s words. I knew her Mama had been on my side but seeing her again after all this time wasn’t something I was looking forward too. “If I have too…”

Jasmine grinned “Yes. She would hunt you down if you left without seeing her! We can worry about that later, for now, how about goodbye drinks in the bar for Lucas!”

Before he could answer, Jasmine was pushing him out the door. Bending down and pressing my lips softly against Maddie’s I grinned. “I love you, Snowflake.”

“I love you too, baby.”

I grinned wider and we followed Jasmine and Lucas.

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Morgan

Dinner with Maddie was fun. She was an amazing girl, and clearly Ghost hadn’t said anything to her yet. Turning the tables on the pair of them had been a smooth move on my part. Making Ghost actually work tonight over one of the other guys was a nice touch too. I knew I was adding fuel to the fire, and the look in his eyes told me that he wanted me dead, but thankfully I was safe. Lucas and Daniel had my back and would step in if he tried. He wouldn’t make a move in front of Maddie and risk her ending up in the crossfire.

Although, if she knew where I had been and what I was doing while she was sleeping, then she might just kill me herself. If Ghost thought what he saw was bad, then I should have given him a taste of what went on in that room last night. After dinner, we took a walk along the beach before returning to the hotel. While Maddie was in the bathroom before we left, I sent Ghost a message with a video attached.

“Just a small taste of what me and Maddie are going to be doing later.”

Hitting send, I looked up as Maddie came out of the bathroom and I put my arm around her. Leading her out to the car, I helped her up into the Hummer and moved around to the other side.

“Touch her in any way and I will make sure she cuts your dick off and shoves it up your ass. Trust me, she knows how to castrate something.” With that, Ghost got into the front and shut the door.

“Is everything alright, Morgan?” Maddie asked when I got into the back with her.

“Peachy, Angel. Just a little shop talk.” Maddie nodded and laid her head against my shoulder and I let my hand rest against her thigh. Not bad for my first date. Most people seemed surprised when they found that little piece of information but I just didn’t want the drama that came along with the strings. I travelled a lot and didn’t want to be tied down. I saw what a struggle it was for the guys in the band who had families back home. Not something I wanted to sign on for. So, I just used my southern charm and got into their pants before taking off for the next town the next morning. Was I an asshole for leading Maddie on like this? Probably, but she had something I was craving real bad.

Getting back to the hotel and stepping into the elevator with Ghost and Maddie, I made sure to put her in between us. I wasn’t stupid. I wasn’t going to stand in swinging distance of a pissed off ex-Military man. I didn’t want to die tonight. The doors opened and he stepped out before letting us pass. I walked down the hall with my arm around Maddie’s waist, and I just knew that he wanted to take her and get her as far away from me as he could. Hell, if I was in his shoes then I probably would too. He was just going to have to suck it up, because she was mine for the night and nothing was going to change that.

Getting into the room and letting the door close, I could hold back any longer. Pressing Maddie back against the door, I kissed her hard as my arms caged her in place. Tonight, I was gonna make her mine. Tomorrow we were on the first plane out of here. The feel of her fingers running softly over my skin made me groan and press against her harder. Before I could make good on my thoughts though, there was a banging against the door, and not the kind that I liked. Maddie pushed me back just enough so she could answer the door. With every fiber in me I thought we would be staring at Ghost, so as she opened the door, I slipped my arm around her waist and pulled her back to me.

I was surprised when I saw Jasmine standing there. What was she doing here? Did Maddie call her and ask her to come? I looked down at Maddie and the look on her face said she had no idea she would be coming here either.

“Uh, babe? Can you give us a minute?” I nodded at Maddie with a frown and looked over to Jasmine. She looked pissed and I knew tonight would be a cold shower kinda night. Hmm, I wonder if it was too late to head down to the bar and see what they had to offer for dessert.
