I put my finger over her
lips and correct her. “I’m no longer Din Zar to you. Now I’m your
keslon, your husband.”

A fresh burst of pure joy
comes from Hallie making the air around her seem as though it’s
alive. I relish the scent. Within the wonderful aroma, I pick up
happiness, security, and most of all
love
.

“
I love you, keslon.” She
reaches back and touches the new mark on her hip and then touches
the matching one on my chest.

Fire thrums through me as
she traces the knife, each star, and then the wavy line
underneath.

“
Is mine exactly like
yours?” she asks softly.

“
Yes.” At my answer a fresh
wave of love comes from my little kesdy.

She twists at the waist
and bends until she can see my mark. A breath later, she turns and
looks into my eyes. “I can’t see all of it without a mirror, but I
can honestly say I’ll always be proud to have your mark on me—my
life, my lover, my keslon.”

At her emotion filled
scent and precious words, the last part of the shield around my
heart dissipates forever.

This time my warrior’s
heart doesn’t protest as it turns from a ball of the toughest metal
into a soft sweet confection for her to eat up. I actually look
forward to her devouring my soul as well.

I can’t think of a better
place for my heart and soul to dwell than inside of Hallie Mead
TocGar, my sweet little kesdy.

kindness. My heart lurches as hope and passion flare within
