His Assurance (Assured Distraction Book 3) (30 page)

When he sucked down on my nipple, he pushed in part of the way and stopped. The head was inside, but that was all. “Don't stop, Gun. Please don’t stop. I need you,” I said on a forced breath.

“I need you, too, babe, I need you, too.” He pushed in all the way until he was balls deep, and oh my God, it felt perfect.

He moved to my other breast and licked around the already hardened nipple that was dying for attention. As he took it in and sucked, he started moving, slowly at first.

“Babe, this is good, but I need more.” That’s all the encouragement he needed. He plunged in and retreated with hard, intense strokes that met the core of my existence. I dug my heel into his ass cheeks, trying to get him in further but it didn’t give me what I needed.

“More, Gunner. I need more.”

He reached around and grabbed my ankle, pulling my leg up until it was over his shoulder, then did the other leg the same way. He pushed hard, and it felt so damn good, I couldn’t keep from screaming his name as I came again. Before I could come down from the intense pleasure, he stopped and flipped me over to my stomach again and pulled my hips off the mattress. He slid his cock from my clit a few times and then pushed in hard again. This time, he hit that spot I needed over and over as he forcefully increased his movements inside me.

“Right there, right there, don’t stop. Gunner, don’t stop, don’t stop.” I came over and over. The contracting around him did it for him because he growled my name and made unintelligible sounds.

We finally came to our senses, and he rolled off me. We both laid facing the ceiling.

“Damn. Lola. Best sex ever!” He pulled me to him and grabbed the blanket that was on the floor beside the bed, cocooning us together.

And I couldn’t agree more.

Epilogue

It only took about a week or so for my hearing to return to normal. The doctor checked me out and told me not to overdo it just yet, so I convinced Lola she should come and play nurse with me for now under doctor’s orders. She laughed and told me she heard the doctor’s orders, and it didn’t include a private nurse, but she came anyway.

Over the next few weeks, we spent all of our time together when she was not interviewing or studying for interviews. It took me a month to convince her to leave her little house and move into mine. I constantly pointed out that she was wasting money on a storage building. That was all it was since she spent almost every minute at my house.

The band was going back into the studio next week to finish up our next album. I was pumped about it because I knew when I came home, she was going to be there waiting for me. She, Peri, and Chandler had grown closer over the time she had been here, and I was glad. I knew she needed friends to hang out with.

I didn’t know how we were going to make it when I left on tour, but I knew we would figure it out. We hadn’t made the big three-word investment in each other yet, but we were taking life one day at a time.

Until today.

Today was going to be special.

I called from the studio and asked her to get dressed. I was heading home in about an hour. I wanted to give her plenty of time since I knew she would make it special for me. She always had something hidden away to keep me guessing what I was going to find. I got her a La Perla credit card. I told her it was for her, but it was really for me. Of course, she looked smokin’ hot in anything or nothing at all, but it made her feel that way with expensive silk and lace next to her skin. So hey, who was I to keep a girl from feeling sexy?

Tonight, I was telling her, while we dance. It had become our thing since the night on the dance floor that we finally got back together. Even though that night had its problems, we both loved the sensual feel of each other’s bodies on the dance floor, and now we danced in our house every chance we had.

I was taking her to a little place out on the lake that had dining and dancing. It was not a loud club like we usually went, with our friends. I wanted it to be more romantic than some ridiculous club where the testosterone was strong, and the women were horny. I wanted it more private, so I rented the entire back room just for the two of us. A friend of mine who did great acoustic guitar was coming in and doing an entire set for us to dance. I didn’t know if we would make it that long, but he knew the signal to leave and was cool with the whole idea.

I headed out to the lake. It wasn’t that far from my house so we would arrive quickly.

“Where are we going, Gun?” This was her new name for me, and I thought it was hot that she thought I could shoot like a gun.

“It’s a surprise. I wanted to have a special night for a change.”

“Great. We need a special night sometimes.”

We pulled into the parking lot, and the valet came to get the keys. I stepped around and opened the door.

Mon chéri
, you look amazing.” Her soft blonde curls were hanging all the way down her back, and I loved it that way because later I could wrap my hands in it.

The maître d showed us to a section obviously arranged just for the two of us overlooking the blue waters of Lake Travis. The water was up finally, and it was a perfect color for November.

Dinner arrived, and we enjoyed talking and sharing bits of food. We ordered after dinner drinks and Teage came out, sat behind the mic, and started to play. I knew she was going to love the music because she loved acoustic anything. Teage’s skills were excellent on acoustical guitar.

I stood and asked her to dance, and she put her hand in mine rising from her chair looking me in the eyes. We danced slowly around the floor. We were in no hurry, no rush, no crowd. The pace was perfect for the two of us. I held her close and kissed the top of her head when he started the song I had picked out for just that moment, “The One” by Kodaline. The words were important, and I didn’t know if she had ever heard the song before. When I first heard it, my mind went immediately to how I felt about her. Honestly, it was the reason I decided we needed to have tonight. I wanted her to know how I felt, and I believed she felt the same way, too. Right now, I prayed she did.

“You know I never believed in love or

believed one day

That you would come along…”

When Teage finished that verse, I couldn’t wait any longer to tell her. I stopped dancing and looked at her. “I wanted this to be the perfect moment to tell you something, Lola.”

She looked at me strangely. “I have something I want to say, too, but you go first.”

“Lola, when I met you in Paris, I knew you were special. I could feel it, but back then I was too stupid to know just how special you were. The moment we reconnected here in Austin, I had the same feeling, but it still wasn’t the right timing. After the accident, I had a lot of time to think about things. I was in a very dark place for a while. Then, I almost destroyed what could have been. So tonight, I’m not waiting another minute. I love you, Lola. I love you. I want to keep telling you I love you for a long, long time. Probably forever.”

I knew I did something right because big tears spilled from her eyes as I stopped talking.

“Oh, Gunner. That’s what I wanted to tell you, too. I wanted to leave Paris with you when you came through, but I knew we weren’t in a place in our lives to make that a reality. With you on the road, and me having the time of my life figuring out who I was, it would have never worked. The accident pushed me over the edge, though. I didn’t know whether to run to you or away from you until I was gone. I was miserable in Houston. My dad told me to go after what I wanted and what I wanted was you. When you left me on that dance floor, I wanted to sink into a puddle and stay there, but then you were at my door begging, and I knew it was for real.”

“I love you. I love you. I love you, Gunner.”

I realized Teage had been playing something softly in the background, so I gave him the nod, and he walked out the door.

“Let’s go home,
chéri
. Our home. Together.”

Playlist

These are songs I love and listened to while I was writing this book. There’s no rhyme or reason to the order or the song. I just enjoy the music, the lyrics, the tune or the performers. I love live music, too.

Notes about ACL Festival

This is a great music festival of rock and alternative music, and that occurs in Oct. of each year in Zilker Park in Austin, TX. It invites performers from all over the world to play for two weekends. This is a great time to visit ATX because the weather is usually outstanding. I had the pleasure of attending it for the first time with my daughter, and we had an awesome experience. Thanks, Lacy for putting up with me for a weekend of fun and games. Looking forward to this year!
