When he finally pushed his way inside of her, it was as easy as breathing. He kept his gaze on hers, both of them unwilling to look away until he was fully seated inside her. When their hips met, she tightened her legs around his waist, a welcome squeeze, and they brought their forehead together, breathing the same air for a few precious moments.
This was what had been missing between them, the emotion Laney had despaired of ever feeling from him. If it took her being fired to make it happen, so be it.

He
started to move. Michael buried his face in her throat, her collar bone, between her breasts; anywhere he could reach, to suckle, to lick, to kiss. Laney returned the favor, pulling on his earlobe with her teeth, delighting in the scruff of his jaw against her cheek, nuzzling at his clavicle with the tip of her nose. He smelled so good, so right; they were making love and he smelled so good she wanted to begin again, before they'd even finished. She would never have enough of him, and she was finally starting to believe she got to keep him.

Michael shifted them so he sat up on his knees and she straddled his
waist, her legs still wrapped around his hips. He moved her with a firm grip on her ass, controlling the pace as he made her ride him. He pulled one of her nipples into his mouth, happily suckling at it until she came undone. He followed a few short moments later, hands lazily moving up and down her back until he settled them onto their sides, still pressed together, legs still entwined.

She took in the set of his face, his dear, dear face and stroked his cheek with her fingers; his chest; anywhere she could reach.

"So," she said, speaking very softly, unwilling to break the quiet spell woven around them, "if you don't have a girlfriend, then what am I?"

He grinned
, pulling her against him. He was already stirring, as ready as she was to make love until the sun went down. "That's easy," he murmured, kissing her gently. "Y
ou're mine."

And as far as Laney was concerned, she always would be.
