Mix It Up!

The collection of cocktails that follows is by no means exhaustive or intended as a mixology encyclopedia, but is meant to illustrate the versatility of making mixed drinks with liqueurs. In these recipes, liqueurs replace the spirit and the sugar that make up more traditional concoctions. They are arranged by basic cocktail recipe as follows:

Alexander
Liqueur Spirit + Cream

Originally a mixture of gin, créme de cacao, and cream, now more commonly made with brandy, the name comes from the New York bartender Troy Alexander, who invented the creamy white cocktail to honor Phoebe Snow, a fictional advertising figure for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. Dressed in snow white, she represented the cleanliness of anthracite-powered locomotives, were claimed to be as pure as freshly fallen snow.
