Chapter 29

Reese stared out the window at the bypassing traffic under the teal blue horizon. She was too excited to sleep. Despite the fact that it was 5 in the morning and they had a 7 hour flight to LA ahead of them, she couldn't even shut her eyes if she tried. How could she? She was going to the Espys! She tried to convince herself that it wasn't a big deal, but it was. Never had she imagined a regular ol' woman like herself would be stepping foot on the red carpet in Hollywood. And as Cameron's date. She felt honored.

They were on their way to the New Jersey airport to catch an early flight. As Cameron's personal chauffer sat behind the wheel of the Cadillac SUV, they were cuddled in the backseat. With her arms wrapped around his waist and head rested on his broad chest, Cameron was slouched against the corner of the seat, his sinewy arm draped around her shoulder, fast asleep. She blushed at how adorable he looked. With the brim of his fitted cap positioned over his eyes, all she could focus on were those soft, thick lips of his she just loved to kiss so much. His demeanor was so calm. So at peace. Like a hardworking man finally able to rest in quietude. Come to think of it, this was actually the first time she had ever caught him sleeping. He was always the early riser. The last to sleep. And the first to rise.

Reese lifted the brim of his cap, and he turned his head, peaking at her.

"You still up?"

Her insides warmed at his husky baritone. There was just something about the raspy sound of it that turned her on. Jesus. How was it possible for someone to be this sexy when they were half asleep?

"Mhmm."

"You're not tired?"

She shook her head, staring at those lips.

"Watch when you get on the plane...ya ass is gonna be knocked out."

She smiled. She doubted that.

When they arrived at the airport, Reese blinked at the sight of the private jet awaiting them at the runway.

"You didn't tell me we were taking a private jet?" She turned to him, surprised.

He smirked. "Did I have to?"

His chauffer opened the door and they stepped out of the vehicle. He then popped the trunk and gathered their luggage. The two other SUVs pulled up behind them, filled with his entourage which consisted of his assistant, two best friends, manager, stylist team and security. Ten people in total. A little more than what she would've liked. She would've just preferred it to be the two of them, for her own selfish reasons, but she had no right to complain.

Reese gazed in awe when she boarded the plane. The 14 passenger cabin had entailed cream leather seats, matted with white carpeted floors,  mounted plasma screen TVs at each corner, and sleek tables by every other seat.

She had never been on a private jet before. Her taste was much simpler. But hell! If she wasn't excited to be on one.

As everyone else boarded the plane, Reese and Cameron sat in the love seat toward the front. It provided them with a bit of privacy, which she was glad for. Unlike the other seats that faced each other, theirs faced the granite corridor with the built in flat screen TV. The young, brunette haired, flight attendant welcomed them aboard, and went over the safety protocols. It wasn't long before the plane sped along the runway and began ascending off the ground.

"Hate this part."

She looked at him. "What part?"

"The take off."

"Really?" She peered out the window as they elevated higher. "It's usually the landing I can't stand."

There was nothing more uneasy than flying smoothly across the sky, only to wait dreadfully as it descended to the ground, hoping to god the plane wouldn't somehow crash and burn. Shivering, she shook those thoughts away. She couldn't think about that right now.

"I didn't know that was a fear of yours," she spoke.

He nodded, shutting his eyes. His chest heaved as he huffed out a deep breath, the muscles in his jaw bulging fervently. She licked her lips. Was she wrong for lusting at him in that exact moment? She was. But she couldn’t help it. Just the way the vein bulged at his temple and along the crook of his neck, reminded her of the many times it would appear just before he would cum. She erased her thoughts, guilty for lusting at him during his time of distress.

She called attention to the flight attendant and requested a blanket. The air was a bit cool due to the blowing of the AC, but not too uncomfortable. However, she found during her times of stress, just having a blanket of some sort, helped to put her at ease.

When she was provided with a blanket, she unfolded it. "Cold?"

"Nah, I'm alright."

Despite his words, she moved in closer, spreading the blanket over both of them.

"Reese, I said I'm coo—"

"Shh..." She wrapped her arms around him.

He shook his head with a smirk, holding her. She melted at the scent of his cologne exuding his white T shirt. Damn, he smelled so good. And he was wearing her favorite cologne too. She wasn’t sure the particular brand, but it had such distinct intoxicating smell that always managed to allure her senses so teasingly. Heat rose between her thighs, and she folded her legs with a sigh. God, she was so fucking horny. They hadn't had sex in over two weeks due to their busy schedules. With him traveling for business, and her swamped with work, this was the first time they had been around each other in so long. She missed him terribly.

Reese slowly ran her hand up his shirt, grazing her nails across his bumpy abs. He averted his gaze to her.

"What?"

"Nothing," she whispered.

He stared at her for a moment, before looking away with a grin. "You know you've been looking like that all morning?"

"Like what?"

"Horny."

She blushed. "That's because I am.”

"Don't worry, baby. Wait till we get to the suite."

She didn't want to wait that long. That was 7 hours from now. A damn eternity.

Biting her lip, Reese glanced over her shoulder. Mostly everyone appeared to be fast asleep, apart from the few listening to music, lost in their own worlds. She turned around to notice Cameron already beginning to doze off.

"Cam..." she whispered.

"Hmm."

He looked so sedated, so relaxed in his lethargic state. And she had no idea why that turned her on so much.

She loosened the waistband of his sweatpants, then slid her hand into his boxers. He jumped when she arrived at his manhood. His eyes fleeted to hers.

"Whatchu doin' girl?"

She grasped his thick muscle, caressing it as it hardened in her palm.

"You can't wait?" He smirked.

"No."

He drew out a deep sigh, as though unbothered. But the fiery lust in his eyes deepened the more she caressed him. Hissing his teeth, he closed his eyes.

"I'm tired, Reese..."

She knew she was being selfish, but damnit. She fucking wanted him. And just the touch of his hardness in her palm heightened her insatiable appetite beyond belief.

She had enough of this.

She buried herself under the covers and lowered her head. She pulled out his manhood and licked her lips thirsting for him. Those thick veins bulged across his shaft, his moist head appearing as ripe as ever, she couldn't hold back anymore. She needed to taste him.

Reese slid her mouth over his head and he shifted in his seat. Her tongue swirled his tip, and she savored his taste with a moan, wishing so desperately he was inside of her. His chest heaved in a quicker pace. Cameron lifted up the covers, watching her.

"Fuck..." he huffed under his breath.

Grasping her scalp, he pushed himself deeper into her mouth. She bobbed her head in a rhythmic motion, sucking him with all of her might.

"Shit, I'm bout to cum..." he whispered. He began to pull out, but she swapped his hands away, and continued to suck him. She wanted to savor every bit of him. His pelvis thrusted as he drew closer to his orgasm and he clenched her hair tighter. His warm juices spurted into her mouth, and she swallowed each and every part of him. She moaned, licking her lips.  When she finished, she sat up and met his lustful gaze. He breathed heavily, lost in a cloudy daze and shook his head.

"Just wait till I get your ass to the hotel room."

"Wow," Reese voiced as she entered the suite.

The lavish presidential suite consisted of a spacious kitchen, dining room and living room, embellished with a warm decor of white and peach. A mounted large plasma screen, pool table, and baby grand piano adored the suite, with the large window showcasing the sunny view of Los Angeles from above, making the scenery all the more attractive. She had been in nice hotels in the past, but none like this.

"It was a pleasure to be at your service, Mr. Lewis. Enjoy your stay," the young Middle Eastern bellman welcomed, after he reeled in the cart with their luggage.

"'Preciate it, man." Cameron placed $200 in his palm as they shook hands. The bellman glanced at the tip and blinked with surprise.

"No, thank you sir." He nodded with a widened smile. "Have a nice day."

When he left, Reese smirked. "Aww, you made his day."

He shrugged. "Aye, why not?"

She strolled around, checking out the place.

"How you like it?" He asked.

"I love it."

Reese blushed as she approached the pool table, the vivid memory of their first...session, clouding her mind. Every time she saw a pool table, it brought her back to that moment.

"Remember this?" She gave him a sly glance, sliding her hand across the table.

He licked his lips. "You know I do."

Her body heightened with heat just at the thought of his promise earlier. She had been craving him all day, to the point that she knew she would cum if he were to simply touch her. She didn't know what the hell this man was doing to her, but she never desired someone this much.

"Don't think I forgot what I said." He walked toward her in deliberate steps.

Her heart raced as she anticipated his touch.

"Getchya ass up on this table, girl."

She gasped as he lifted her up and placed her on the table. He plastered his lips on hers, and she moaned, reveling in the caress of his tongue. The sudden knock the door broke their kiss.  She frowned, annoyed at the roaring voices and loud banging.

"Who is that?"

"Probably D and Bryson's dumb asses."

"
It's us fool. Open up!"

"Yup. Just what I thought." He walked over to the door.

Great. Now their time was ruined.

With a sigh, she stood on her feet. He opened the door, and just like they expected, his two friends met him at the entrance. Without warning, they barged into the hotel, loud as ever, carrying on like two drunken teenagers on spring break.

That was her cue to go.

Reese gathered her luggage and walked away, not in the mood to be in their presence. She had no real issue with his friends, other than the fact that they always behaved so immature and belligerent. They actually made Cameron look like the calm and collected one, as ironic as that was.

When she entered the master bedroom, she whistled, impressed. The spacious room consisted of a king sized bed, a flat screen TV, a lounging area at the corner, with an adjacent master bathroom. She loved the ensemble of the white and burgundy bed sheets which complemented well with the chestnut wood bed frame and furniture within the room. She walked over to the curtains and drew them open, only to be welcomed by the sun's beaming rays.

She then plopped herself on the plush bed, shutting her eyes with ease. It felt so good to get away.

She couldn't even remember the last time she had taken any sort of vacation. To take time off of work was a stretch for her. But these four days away was definitely what she needed. She just hoped her team was doing exactly what they were supposed to do.

Just to be sure, she grabbed her phone and called Lillian to check in. As the VP, her duty was to take over her position during her time away. And there was no one else she would rather have do the job, than Lillian. She was a great leader in her own right with her heart and passion for her career bigger than her own, so she knew for certain Lillian would make sure Free the Heart ran smoothly in her absence.

After Lillian provided her with an update, she called Yasmine to check up on her as well. Sadly, she couldn't make it, due to catching the flu. So instead, another staff from her agency would take her place as Cameron's publicist during the upcoming festivities. After sending Yasmine her well wishes, Reese shut her eyes. With the effects of jetlag now kicking in, she was exhausted. She barely got any sleep last night and had been wide awake during the flight. She really needed the rest.

They had a busy 4 days ahead of them. Although the Espys was only days away, there were countless events they would be attending before then. Such as the pre award dinners, brunches and pre parties. So many events. Such little time. She just hoped she could keep up.

"Yo, you going to James Harden's stripper party tonight? You know that shit's supposed to be crazy."

Nosy, Reese listened to their conversation.

"Nah," Cameron said.

"What? Why not?"

"I ain't really in the mood, to be honest."

"Bruh, we go every year. Whatchu mean you ain't going?"

"It's just the same ol' shit. It gets tiring after a while."

"Nigga, is you high? If you are, please pass me that shit you smoking. 'Cause, you must be outta ya damn mind!"

"Ain't gonna be nothing but some butt naked hoes in there. And you don't wanna go?" one of them said to Cameron.

"Let me guess, it's 'cause of shorty you with, huh?"

"No, it's not 'cause of her," Cameron defended.

"Yeah, right. That's exactly why, man. There's no other reason you'd miss the hottest party of the night for nothing. I mean damn nigga, is the pussy that good?"

She scoffed, disgusted.

"Yo, you know this chick got ya nose wide open, right?"

"Man, don't even start with that," Cameron voiced, annoyed at his two friends.

"Nigga it's true. You just too blind to see it."

"Aye, good luck dealing with that, man. You gonna need it. You know how them independent black bitches be. Can't tell them shit. Always wanna be in control all the time. Wanna act like they don’t need a man and shit. Nah, bruh. You could have it."

She listened, appalled. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Alright, that's enough. Both of yall, out," Cameron scolded.

"Oh word, you kicking us out now? Damn, already acting brand new over this chick," one of them jeered. "Yo, you see his face, B?"

"Yeah. The face of a pussy whipped nigga!"

Laughter filled the air.

"Out!"

The laughter continued, until the door slammed, silencing them.

Reese was repulsed. Was this how they talked about her when she wasn't around?

After a while, Cameron appeared with a sigh.

"Anyway, where were we?"

She rolled her eyes, disgusted with him. Cameron got on the bed and crawled toward her. Placing his hand on her thigh, he leaned in for a kiss but she backed away with a heated glare.

"Don't kiss me."

His head jerked. "What?"

She focused on her phone.

"What's the matter with you?" he asked, confused.

"I overheard you and your little friends talking."

He lowered his head with a sigh.

"So, I'm an independent black bitch who acts like she doesn't need a man." She nodded with pretense smile. "Glad to know I'm the butt of everyone's jokes."

"Look, they didn't mean that. That's how they always are."

"Why did you even bring me on this trip?"

"You know why." He sat on the bed.

"No, I don't. Because apparently, I'm just ruining your fun."

"That's not true."

"According to your friends, it is."

"Look at me."

She didn't spare him a glance. He placed a finger on her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. "You think if I didn't want you here, I would've asked you to come?"

She rolled her eyes, folding her arms.

"I brought you here, because I wanna share this experience with you. There's no one else I'd rather have here."

That wasn't enough to comfort her. Despite the seriousness in his tone, she still couldn't understand why he wanted her out of all people. Moments like these, only brought her back to the reality of the situation. She was a 38 year old woman dating a 27 year old athlete. She would be fooling herself to expect any different from him. Yet here she was, already caught up in the web they had tangled themselves in.

What was she doing?

"Sometimes, I just feel like I'm making a mistake." She shook her head.

"About what?"

"Being involved with you."

"It's no mistake."

"And how can I be so sure?"

"Alright, look at it like this." He leaned back against the headboard. "Take away all this shit. The fame, the women, the media, everything. When it's just us two, what do you feel?"

"A lot of things."

"What's the number one thing?"

She paused for a moment.

"Fear."

"Why fear?"

She let out a sigh. "Because, I find myself falling deeper for you than I realized."

Her heart tightened at the revelation as they both fell silent.

"C'mere." He patted the spot beside him.

She moved closer to him.

"You know the one thing I learned in boxing?" he asked.  "It's just you and fear in that ring. Not the other person. Not the ref. No one. Just your fear. That's your real opponent. And you could either let it knock you down, or you keep fighting that muthafucka till the bell goes off."

Reese grew quiet, his words resonating with her.

"I say that to say, we all got something we're scared of. All of us. But we shouldn't let that stop us from achieving what we really want...even if that means risking our hearts in the process."

That struck a chord with her. She thought about her own life. Her struggles, her demons, her fears. As strong as she had become over the years, there were still some dark aspects in her life that haunted her till this day. And no matter how much she tried to move forward, she could never build up the courage to conquer them completely.

"I want you to do something for me," He pulled her out of her thoughts.

"What?"

"Let go."

"Let go?"

"Yeah. I want you to let go of what you think...and go with what you feel. Will you do that for me?"

She paused for a moment, nodding. "I'll try."

He kissed her lips and she welcomed their soft touch. He pulled away, rubbing her cheek.

"That's all I ask."
