So all was quiet in his world and it truly did feel good. He looked up in the rearview mirror and met a thoughtful gaze from Jasper. Max smirked as he lit a cigarette. He remembered Asher saying once that Max would use any excuse in the book to basically kidnap him off the street, no matter what he was doing, just to satisfy his raging lust. Even something as random as the price of gas going up.
Max had to admit to his raging lust. He admitted to his constant need for Asher by his side; to be inside him. He would even admit to random stray thoughts making him so horny that, yes, he'd send his men to pick up Asher and bring the wandering photographer to him. Even the rising price of gas.
"So, what
is
the price of gas these days?"
Jasper raised an eyebrow. Then a knowing smile lit his face. "It's funny you should ask, sir. I believe it went up just today."
Max nodded as he blew out a puff of smoke. "You don't say. Well, then, I think that's reason enough, don't you? Let's go get him."
"Yes sir!" Jasper smiled a brilliant smile as he pushed a button on his cell to call Kira. "Yes, indeed, sir!"
Max looked out the window at the passing scenery. Yes, undeniably, it was going to be a damn fine night.

I live in Minnesota where I am holding tight to the idea that here, where it's cold a good part of the year, I won't age as fast. Yep, I avoid the truth as much as I avoid mirrors. But one of the reasons I love writing is reality doesn't always offer up a 'happily ever after' and being able to take control of that is a powerful lure. Being a happy ending junkie, writing just makes them easier to find.
Oh, I don't mind 'real life' and I do try to at least keep it in mind when I write my stories but I truly love creating a wonderful couple, knowing they are going to fall in love and have their HEA. Every time. And, of course, that is exactly the reason I love reading this genre too.
Give me a glass of red wine, some dark chocolate, and my computer, whether I am reading or writing, and I can entertain myself for hours. The fact I actually get paid to do it is Snickers bars on the frosting on the cake.
