Icarians: Poisoned Dreams (14 page)

Jaxon immediately felt the pressure inside his skull along with a sharp pain, but Maddison's powers were nothing compared to Jaxon's. He back handed her to get her out of the way quickly and she slammed into a near by wall. Mason went after Dean and Jaxon turned to Trevor who was coming after him. He struck Jaxon in the chin causing his head to snap back momentarily stunning him. Jaxon picked him up and tossed him through a wall. The next room was empty so he cautiously proceeded to the next after that.

Jaxon found Analeigh strapped to a chair. In the corner of the room was a large man but Jaxon felt no threat from him. Then he saw the old woman he had known his entire life.
"Hello, Gladys." He greeted her cruelly.
"Jaxon Cole." She said slowly "What a handsome man you turned out to be." Ignoring her he walked over to Analeigh and pulled the tape off her wrists.
Gladys moved over to them quickly and he turned around to face her.
"Now think about this Jaxon. If you take her it will only make Victor even more angry and determined. In the end he will have her and we will all prosper. What is one life when it means we all benefit, including you." He looked at her disgusting face with pity. She had once been beautiful but like the others she got greedy.
"I have heard this before. I will not stand by and let this happen." With that he called out for Mason, who then came into the room with them.
"Well well if it isn't Gladys. Barely breathing I see. Are the maggots treating you well?" Mason taunted her. Gladys just snorted at him and said with another cackle, "You will all die."
"Not before you old woman." Mason smiled at her.
"We need to get her out of here fast." Jaxon urged Mason.

With Mason there to have his back he gently picked Analeigh up and cradled her in his arms. They left the house quickly. Jaxon and Mason opened there wings and flew toward Analeigh's house. Analeigh realized that someone had removed her blindfold and she opened her eyes. She looked up at Jaxon. When she realized that they were flying, she started to panic. Jaxon looked down at her and spoke "Shh, your safe, we are almost to your house. Analeigh looked around in amazement. She saw his beautiful wings carrying them effortlessly. She thought she must be dreaming.

He landed them but still continued to cradle her. She then noticed Mason still in the sky. Jaxon's wings were gone when he walked her through the back door. They were greeted by Mercedes and a frantic Nicole. Nicole was in tears.
"Is she ok?" She asked. Jaxon laid her on the sofa as he answered her.
“She will be fine. Would you mind making Mason and me something to drink?" He wasn't thirsty but he needed her out of their way. She nodded and went into the kitchen with Mason.
"How is she?" Mercedes asked.
"She's been cut and has lost a lot of blood." He told her as he removed the rag and tape from her arm.
Analeigh looked up at them still in astonishment. She flinched a little when she saw her blood run from the open wound. Mercedes put her hands on the deep cut. Analeigh looked down and watched as the wound began to heal. Mercedes smiled kindly down at her.
"You may still have a scar and I can't put blood back into you so you'll have to take it easy." Analeigh laid her head back down and shivered.

Jaxon must have seen it because he bent and picked her up and carried her upstairs. He laid her on her bed and covered her up. She was already asleep. Jaxon looked down at her small frame tenderly. He pulled back the blankets on the other side of her bed and crawled in beside her. She snuggled close to him. He would stay with her, he didn't care about anything else but keeping her safe. He made a vow to himself and to her that he would do his very best to keep her safe.

An hour or so later Analeigh woke with her body pressed up against something hard and big. She looked up to find Jaxon holding her tight. She looked into his eyes which seemed to reveal his very soul.
"What are you?" She asked him.
"I'm an Icarian." He answered her with honesty.
Laying her head back on his chest, feeling completely safe in his arms, she slept.

The End.
