Jackie Draws A Straight: The Journey Series Book 5 (17 page)

She was moaning and panting, pressing back against his falling hand. There was a bright red glow on her ass that called to him. Ace spanked his way down her thighs, brightening them with handprints, then concentrated his slaps on the juncture of both thighs and her pussy. He knew his Gabby loved to have her pussy smacked. He wasn't going to do it full-out, but this little taste would be a tease for other delights later that night. When her cries got loud enough to silence the birds, he stopped spanking and moved around to position himself behind her.

There was a condom in his pants pocket and Ace quickly slid it on
, resolute in his determination that they wait to start their family.

Having come so recently, he knew that
this
second erection was going to last a while, so he settled himself in for a long, sweet
visit. He slid the head of his cock over her slippery pussy and pressed it against
Gabby's
swollen clit. She moaned and ground her hips back against him.

Ace gave her another swat. "Stay still, li'l girl, or I won't give you w
h
at you are beggin' for."

"Aw, Ace…"

He poked her opening a few times, teasing her. She was warm and wet on his tumescent prick and it
was
deliciously
carnal. Slowly, he entered her and she groaned and began to wriggle, wanting him to move faster. He swatted her again. "Still!"

"Y-yes, sir," she
said with a groan.

Her panting and lusty sounds got harsher
as
he reached around her and fingered her clit, sliding his finger around and over, around and over, the way he knew would drive her wild. It had that effect again. Her pussy tightened around him and he started moving in her, deepening his thrusts, touching her, enjoying the look of her red ass and rounded hips, thighs parted to let him go where he wanted. Gabby was his woman and he claimed her happily.

"Oh! Oh! Oh, God!"

"Go ahead," he said
. "Come."

With a strong cry, she squeezed his cock hard, her pussy pulsing and vibrating, moisture bathing him, soaking the front of his thighs. "Good girl. Yeah. That's my girl."

"Oh…oh…that felt so good," she panted
, her muscles beginning to loosen
.

"I think one more 'cause you were obedient and stayed still."

"More?"

He started pistoning into her again. She was hot and wet and tight. He drove within her until her gasps got loud and she squirmed back against him.

"Yes!" she cried
, pulsing around him for the second time
.

"
Mmm, yeah," he growled as the orgasm was torn from his balls and flung into the inner space of his wife's body like a rocket to the moon. Pleasure cradled him in perfumed arms for a moment, then slowly stole away like a mist.

He rested against he
r
for a few minutes then maneuvered them down onto the blanket to lie side by side, her head on his chest.

"
We ought to get back to the house," she said with a small yawn.

"Yeah. Gotta grill the new brother-in-law."

She giggled. "Poor Jackie."

He grinned. "I'm savorin' this event, Gabby-honey. Gotta take your fun where you find it."

Gabby's body was warm against his side as she snuggled. "I like my fun with you, Ace. All alone with you."

A warm flame, always burning for her, flared up with affection. "Me, too, li'l girl. Me, too."

Pete knocked on the screen door, hearing distant voices from inside the house. Jackie appeared in the room beyond the screen.

"Hey there
! Come on in." Her smile was lovely and welcoming as she pressed the screen open for him. There was no foyer inside
;
the door opened up into a large family room with gleaming hardwood floors and comfortable-looking furniture. Ace Journey came into the room and offered his hand, a pleasant smile on his face.

It made Pete a little uncomfortable to have to tilt his gaze up to look into the man's eyes, but he supposed he'd get used to it. And maybe Ace Journey was the tallest one. There were several Journey men yet to meet.

"Welcome to Journey's End," Ace said.

An older man, obviously Ace's father by the resemblance, came in and they exchanged greetings, too. "Leo Journey," he said. His smile was less easy.

Jackie was almost bouncing on her feet with nervousness. He'd never seen her so discomfited.

"Dinner's almost ready," she announced. "Come into the kitchen and meet Gabby and Consuelo."

Nodding, Pete followed. Gabby, a pretty brunette with a curvy figure, greeted him warmly, and Consuelo offered her hellos in Spanish. The first test. He answered in the same language, though it wasn't easy for him. He was fluent in English and Polish, but not Spanish. Jackie sometimes helped him in that respect when it came to his Spanish-only patients.
Consuelo's kind expression suggested that he'd passed the test.

Ace Journey got him a beer—Shiner Bock—and he accepted, noting that Ace hadn't asked him for a preference. Another test. He took a hearty swallow and nodded his thanks.

They chatted about the weather for a few minutes and then Consuelo began to put food on the table. Jackie pointed to chair at the far side of the large, round, oak kitchen table, and he took the offered seat a moment after she sat down next to it.

The food smelled appetizing and looked delicious. It was a family-style service and for several minutes conversation stayed light.
Consuelo sat with the family, which he found
admirable. She was obviously more than a housekeeper. Jackie had said once that the woman had been a mother to her after her own mother passed away.

"Mmm," Pete offered. "Mol
é
is a favorite of mine."

She accepted the praise with good grace. "It's an old family recipe. Jackie grew up eating it. She does a fine job of it herself."

Pete shot his fiancé a surprised glance and she shrugged and blushed. "Consuelo is a good teacher."

Jackie's hand was cool under the table
and
he squeezed it. He hoped he was being reassuring. Ace and Leo were watching.

"So," Leo began, and Pete knew by his tone that the real inquisition had begun. "Where'd you go to school, son?"

"UT Houston for chemistry and
medical school
."

"Kilt anyone yet?" Leo said it with a smile, but his eyes were locked onto Pete.

"Daddy!"

Pete laughed. The old guy was having a joke at his expense, but he
was up to it. "No, sir. Though a few wish I would
."

Leo snorted and grinned. "My son Deuce is a doctor, too."

"Jackie told me. A pediatrician?"

"Pediatric cardiologist," Leo told him proudly.

"
Tough work."

"Why didn't you specialize?" Ace asked.

There were a lot of specialists and, without a doubt, they made more money than he did. "I like seeing a variety of conditions. It's never boring. I considered trauma surgery for a while, but I wanted a rural practice and trauma surgeons practice in cities primarily."

Leo nodded. "That's an interestin' point you bring up. It seems considerable odd that you'd choose to move into the country with us hicks. But…what is that old song about Lubbock?"

"Oh, I know that one, Leo!" Gabby enthused, her face bri
ght.
She sang, a little off-key, but the tune was recognizable. "Happiness is Lubbock
, Texas,
in my rear-view mirror…" Jackie shot her a dirty look and Ace's wife looked embarrassed. "Oh."

Pete smiled
. Gabby hadn't meant to be insensitive
. "I grew up in Lubbock but I love the country. I like the wide-open spaces and the
friendly people."

Leo pushed his empty plate away and patted his stomach. "Great supper, Connie. Not like your usual crap."

Consuelo's
lips turned up at the corners and her
eyes twinkled. Her Spanish rejoinder was too colloquial for Pete to parse. He looked over at Jackie. "She called him an old geezer. They tease like that all the time."

"Ah." He finished his meal and
tried to relax, despite the scrutiny.

It was Ace's turn to chime in. "UT Houston, hm?
Not much of a football school.
Follow
the Aggies?"

"
Not really.
I'm more of a baseball fan, truth to tell."

"
Astros?"

"Um…Braves, actually."

Ace's dark eyebrows shot up. "Braves?
Atlanta?"

Pete knew it was weird, but it was the truth. "I spent a summer internship in Atlanta and learned to like them. Never lost that interest."

"Hm." Ace replied succinctly.

It went on like that right through evening coffee in the living room. Jackie relaxed a bit as Pete passed most of the challenges.
H
e stood his ground and that seemed to garner respect. All he could be was himself. If they didn't like him, he'd find a way to deal with it. He made sure Jackie knew it as they sat together on the couch while Pete got peppered with questions.

He knew he'd passed muster when Leo stood and stretched broadly. Damn but the Journey men were big guys. At six feet, Pete was not accustomed to feeling like the little guy in the room.

"Why don't you take your fella out to see that new mare, Jackie. He says he likes horses. He'll like Ripley."

Jackie popped up as if released from bondage. "Good idea, Daddy
!
"

Pete rose and shook Leo's hand, then Ace's. Consuelo had retreated to the kitchen. Gabby gave him a
warm hug and whispered, "Good job," in his ear.

"Thank you for the evening," he told them as Jackie led him by the hand toward the front door.

"Welcome to the family," Ace replied, giving him a hearty slap on the back that he absorbed without stumbling. Thank goodness for all the scuffling with his brothers growing up.

After they'd quietly looked at the mare, a sleek and gentle roan, Jackie led him to his SUV. She was lovely in the moonlight, he
r long, dark hair shiny with moon-touched highlights. Hugging him close she murmured into his chest. "I think Daddy likes you."

Pete stroked her back and held her tightly. "I hope so."

She looked up into his face. "Do you think your family will like me?"

"Of course they will. I like you and that's enough."

A trace of puzzling disappointment crossed her features before she smiled softly. "I hope so."

He traced his fingers along her cheek, lowering his head for a kiss. "It's going to be okay."

She nodded, eyes closing as she readied for his lips.

It was a gentle kiss, a kiss of promise and a little fear. While Pete knew he could provide for her, he wasn't sure how she felt about him as a person. Jackie had made it obvious that she wanted him as a man, but did she love him? He felt closer and closer to her with every passing day, and he knew that he was falling in love with the petite country girl with the naughty streak
