Jango's Anthem: Zombie Fighter Jango #2 (15 page)

Vlad's smile was like the last sight
a fisherman on the Amazon sees before being swallowed by a crocodile. The general lowered his gun.

“Has he been searched?”

The guards all looked at each other and shrugged.

“Search him now!
Fools!”

They hurriedly patted the intruder down. He was clean. The general gestured toward his office.

“Come! Sit. Tell me about your proposal.” The general displayed his own predatory smile. “And if I don't like what you say, you will join the fool who let you in here, in hell.”

Mr. Vlad appeared unfazed.

“Like this little country of yours, hell ain't so bad, once you get used to it.”

Lieutenant Karutunda had taken out his pistol when Vlad first entered the room. He still
hadn't put it away. Vlad looked at the Lieutenant and then down at the pistol.

“I don't think you'll
be needing that, lieutenant.”

“You had better hope so,” the general replied. The lieutenant
didn't answer. His eyes remained fixed on a spot right between Vlad's eyes.
