Jason's Salvation (10 page)

Thanks to a little research, he found out what security system they had. He cloaked his scent as he moved through the house. Thanks to some of the things his mother taught him, he could mask himself within groups, take on their scent, and they never knew he was there. Besides that, he spent weeks practicing, he was sure he could slip into the house undetected. He normally wouldn’t have chanced it so soon, but he was desperate. He dismantled the warning system, then slipped in the back door.

“What are we going to do with Javier?” Noah asked.

He inched closer, holding his breath.

“He should be able to answer questions when he awakens,” Ethan said.

“Is Jason still with her?” Noah asked.

“And Max.”

“It was a close one,” the Alpha said. “She’s not going to be happy, but we need to keep her close until we get the name from Javier.”

“Yeah. Although, it could have been him,” Ethan said.

“That’s true.”

The wolf backed away and walked down the hallway to where they had Javier. He saw Rand slip out, lock the door, then walk down the hallway. He knew he only had a little time before Rand returned. He picked the lock, slipped through the opening. He shut the door silently behind him.

Javier lay on the bed. There was a cuff around his hand. The chain linked him to the bed.

“It’s not one of the Dillons. Wake up.”

Javier came awake immediately.

“Thank God. I didn’t know if you would make it in.”

“I figured it out a few days ago.”

Javier gave him a feral smile as he rose up off the bed. “Of course. Get this motherfucking cuff off me so we can get out of here.”

“Give me a second. I need another tool,” he said as he turned around and pulled out the syringe. He turned around and clasped his hand on Javier’s wrist. Without flinching he stabbed the needle into Javier’s skin.

“What the fuck?” he said, right before he started to shake his head.

“That should only take a few seconds. I’m sure you can already feel the toxin working through your system right now. Just let it go. Let it work its magic.”

Javier slumped against the bed, his eyes glazing over. He arranged him on the bed and then slipped the syringe into his pocket. He made his way out of the house again, happy that he had made it out undetected. He knew where the cameras were and kept to the dark areas in the yard, then hurried into the vegetation surrounding the area. He found his car, slid inside, and sped off into the night.

He needed another plan, one he would handle himself. One thing was for sure. He would make sure that not one Dillon was left untouched by the pain he was about to unleash.
