Katieran Prime Celebration (Katieran Prime Book 7.5) (9 page)

“It is a testament that all four nations and its people came together for a common goal. It gives me great hope for future alliances with one another. I look forward to seeing what other achievements we can make by working together.

“Many years ago our people were torn apart and nearly destroyed by the Morins. For all our nations, throughout history, there have been trials to overcome that nearly wiped us out. We all have been tested with our beliefs and our will to survive. But with perseverance through the years of struggling and sacrifice—by continually growing and learning about one another, appreciating our differences as well as our similarities, giving tolerance and acceptance—all of these efforts have brought our four nations together. Now, our nations together—are stronger than ever.

“With this celebration let us commit ourselves here and now to continue our combined efforts and renew our faith in one another and honor the value of each and every one of our people. Let us celebrate our friendship and alliance, which has drawn us together, may our beliefs guide our deeds and define our future actions.

“I wish for all our people to find joy in our alliance and have hope for a bright and fruitful future.” Ren ended his speech and clasped forearms with the other leaders. Cheers went up throughout the crowd. He walked off the platform and went over to his beautiful mate.

Cassie walked hand in hand with Ren through the crowded ballroom. She tried to ignore the pounding headache she still had after her ladies night out. She had slept half the day away until her twins decided they wanted mommy more than manny. Kat and Syd were making their way up to them.

“Here.” Kat reached out with her medical scope and gave Cassie an injection. “That will help with the headache.”

“Thank God. I thought my head was going to explode.” Cassie rubbed her forehead feeling immediate relief. Katieran medication was amazing.

“It turned out lovely, dear.” SandELa came up to them and kissed Cassie on the cheek.

“I think so too. The viewing screens throughout the room, allowing Earth to see the party and us to see Earth’s celebration at the same time is really great.” She watched as one of the Earth Senators took to the dance floor. She hoped she could give Katierans, Kiljorns, and the Colonists a night, one night, free of worry.

“Oh, I better go check on Lindsey.” Kat took off with her medical scope with Syd trailing behind her.

“You better hurry before the fireworks start,” Cassie said. She and Ren went back to dancing. They smiled as they watched other mated couples join them on the dance floor.

Ren glanced over at his cousin as AriELa danced with her mate, TarAK. The two were deeply in love. He hoped they would be able to have a young of their own. There wasn’t anything more important than having a family. He took Cassie in his arms and swept her around the dance floor.

Medic JadEN made his way over to the corner to speak with the human specialist, Marshal Applegate. “What do you think of the festivities?”

“It’s quite lively.” Marshal looked a little uncomfortable. He had worn his dark suit and black bow tie. His hair was slicked back. These kind of things were not for him.

“Have you seen Dr. Sampson?” JadEN asked.

“Yes, she’s over there dancing with that Colonial Commander AshOR.” Marshal pointed to the other side of the dance floor.

JadEN smiled as he watched the normally very prim Earth medic, Jenny Sampson. Someone had forced the female into a Katieran style pale blue dress and she looked amazing with her hair hanging down. When the music ended Doctor Sampson rushed away from the Commander’s arms. But it didn’t take long before the young commander had another female in the vacant spot.

TylOR watched from the balcony doors angrily as his brother, AshOR, danced with Lizzie. The younger male said something to her making her laugh. It lit up her whole face. He hated the sight of another male touching her. But he had no say in it and Lizzie was quick to tell him that.

Kat approached JadEN when Dr. Applegate left to go to the refreshment table. “You’re not dancing?”

JadEN shrugged trying not to stare at Kat. She was breathtaking in her red dress. “I haven’t found someone I wish to dance with yet.”

Kat didn’t believe that. “JadEN, you are a great dancer and there are many females here tonight who haven’t danced yet. In fact, I thought I saw Dr. Garrett sitting at a table all by herself.”

“I don’t need your help finding a dance partner,” JadEN told her a little too forceful.

Kat flinched but tried to brush it off. “Fine, sulk all night if that is what you want to do.” She walked away feeling sad for her friend. All she wanted was for him to find his own bond mate.

Cassie made a quick announcement. “On Earth we usually celebrate big events like this with fireworks. You’ll be able to see that on the viewing screens. Katiera doesn’t have fireworks so we had to come up with something else that we could do. You will be able to see the Katieran version of fireworks from the windows or you can go out onto the balcony.”

Everyone moved to get a good view of the show. Jaxon smiled as KydEL took her out onto the balcony. She was proud to help come up with this idea. There were five warships flying in the night sky. Someone began a count down and at zero about one hundred small balloons were released from the water’s edge. Each balloon was filled with a Katiera mineral that would go off when heated. The warships shot their weapons hitting the balloons, which heated the mineral, causing a small burst of light.

“That is brilliant,” Kyd told his mate as he pulled her into his arms. Next to them were his brothers, Ren and Syd, with their mates.

“It is a magnificent sight,” Ren commented, kissing Cassie on her waiting lips. “A wonderful way to show how beautiful a union among our nations can be.” Ren thanked the Goddess for blessing him with his family. He would do everything in his power to protect them, even from the ignorance of his own people.

Epilogue

“Where in Kitana is it?” Morin Leader Krosis yelled at his lieutenant.

“Sir, we are doing our best to find it. All we know about the location is that it is in a solar system with one sun and the planet is blue in comparison to the others. That is all we got from the female from Earth before she expired.” The lieutenant wiped a yellow ooze of sweat from his forehead.

Krosis was furious. The Katierans, Kiljorns, and Colonists had joined forces against him, forcing him to flee through the wormhole before he was ready. They needed the exact coordinates to find the little blue planet. Otherwise they would be going from solar system to solar system hoping to get lucky. Which is what they were doing now.

“The good news is that our Thermo Dampening Generator is working. Our heat signature has not been picked up since we began to use it,” his lieutenant said.

“Yes, that is something at least,” he chuckled with an evil laugh. “I bet the idiot Katierans are sitting around wondering where we disappeared to. I wish I could have seen the Primes’ faces as we went right past their forces into the wormhole.” His laughter died down. “We will have to find another planet to use as a base while we search for this Earth. We also need to find an alternative source of fuel since our Thermo Dampening Generator has to function with the least amount of emissions to continue to be of value. Solar energy would be preferable.”

“There are three such locations that would be suitable. One is closest to the wormhole,” the lieutenant told him.

“No, the Katierans will be coming back to look for us. We need to be further away.” Krosis watched the locations that were being pulled up on his viewing screen. “These are the other two?”

“Yes, Leader. They are opposite of each other but it will allow us to search one side then we can shift to the other.”

“I like it. Two bases to work from, that way we can keep moving and out of sight from our enemies.” Krosis rubbed his bald yellow head. “Are there life forms on those planets?” Maybe they would not need this Earth if they could find another planet with breeding compatible females.

“We can only detect lower life forms. None that would match our needs, sir. Both planets have natural resources we could use and there may be a fuel resource we can find there,” the lieutenant said.

He growled with disappointment. As one of the few male Morins that could still procreate, he desperately needed to find a female he could plant his seed within. “Set a course for the closet of the two planets. We will stock up on what we need and let our people take a break from the transport.” Some of his males were experiencing the sickness that comes with long space travel. They had a reprieve when they invaded Kiljor but it was not for very long. Curse the Colonists for coming to the Kiljorns’ aid. He hated the alliance of the three nations. He had acquired females only to have them stolen from him. They would pay for that.

“Death to our enemies!” He swore as he stormed out of the control room.

*****

On a nearby mining colony, viewing screens showed the celebration on Katiera. Prime Leader OrIN was furious. How dare they bring these alien beings to Katiera. “What is the security like?”

“Sir, the security is too tight. They doubled up because of the other two leaders' presence on Katiera,” a Lieutenant replied.

That was another issue he had with RendEL. He allowed the Kiljorns and Colonists back on Katieran soil. There was a reason the factions were separated all these years. He couldn’t understand why the Katieran High Council was allowing such atrocities to take place. The Goddess knows he tried to get them to listen to reason. They’ve ignored him and some even mocked his view. Well, they would soon regret their treatment of him—very soon.

The Katieran Culture Guide Book

Forward

It is with great honor and pleasure that we are able to provide a written form to educate the Earth’s refugees on the culture of the alien nation of Katiera. After having given over 2000 culture classes on board the transport ships, we feel that there are repetitive questions we deal with each time and also areas we don’t get a chance to cover. With the approval of Prime Leader RendEL and the Katieran High Council, we will hopefully be able to address all of these issues in detail.

Thanks to everyone who helped in the process.

Sincerely,

Dr. Katrina Morris M.D. and Dr. Elizabeth Connell, PhD

Origins

To start with, how do you pronounce Katieran? It is pronounced as “cuh tear an”. According to Katieran recorded history, they originated from another alien race known as the as Maratians. Yes, sounds like Martians right?

These people were advanced to some degree. They preferred living in huts and caves, hunting and fishing, and gathering for their food. Yet, they had space travel technology. They used their technology to explore other planets that offered natural resources. Some of the Maratians settled in what is now the Katieran Solar System.

The Katieran Solar System is a Binary Solar System, meaning that it has two suns. One large yellow sun and a small red sun. There are six planets in the Katieran Solar System. Each planet is habitable and has their own Luna or moon that orbits around them. Most of the moons have oxygen and natural resources.
