“But we don’t want to leave you on your own, Nikias isn’t even going to be here”, Daryle said softly.  Diona gave them both a reassuring laugh.  “Don’t worry about me.  I have got a fully stocked library at my disposal and the most wonderful weather in the world to enjoy reading the books in, I will be in heaven”, she said, hiding the relief at hearing that Nikias would not be joining her. She often found herself thinking about him, especially when lying in her bed at night, the memory of the first time they made love coming back to torture her.  “Besides, my flight back home is in seven days…what do you think I’m going to do in seven days?”, she grinned.  “Now go enjoy yourselves”, she insisted, delighted at seeing the happy looks lighting up both their faces.

That night,
after finding out that the two were leaving the next day, Diona helped Daryle pack.  In the morning she insisted on going over to the mainland with them to see them off at the airport and she kissed them goodbye, making arrangements to meet them for lunch when they got back.  As she once more made the return journey to the island, she felt tired, still suffering from the after-effects of her illness, she thought ruefully. By the time she returned to her room, it was 5:30 and she laid down on the bed, too tired to fight the fatigue which was draining all of the energy from her, allowing her eyes to close as the exhaustion invaded her whole body, before she quickly drifted off into a deep sleep.

Moving into her room, Nikias
saw her lying on the bed.  With a small smile playing on his lips, he thought to himself how often he had walked into this same room seeing her like this, his reaction to her always the same.  She excited him, her innocence and sensuality an intoxicating mixture.  Moving over to the bed, he sat down beside her, his hands on either side as he leant in.

“Diona, wake up”, he whispered, bending down close to her ear, enjoying the smell of her.  She moaned gently, before her hands wound around his neck, her head rising slightly as her lips met his.  Nikias had been surprised, before he kissed her back, the touch of her lips on his feeling so wonderful at that moment.  As her fingers moved through his hair, he groaned gently.

Diona
dreamt of Nikias again, she dreamt of him often; in her dream he was kissing her so tenderly, his lips so soft and demanding against hers.  With a sigh, she kissed him back, her hands lifting to run through his short glossy hair.  As she felt the soft texture running through her fingers, she heard him moan, her eyes flying open with the realisation that she was no longer dreaming.  Her hands dropped to her side, as his head lifted slightly so that those wonderful dark eyes could look down at her.  He looked so handsome she thought, her eyes focussing on his with surprise at seeing him there.  “Where…what?”, she muttered, the sleep still heavy in her voice.

“I...I’m sorry…I didn’t realise”, she muttered in embarrassment, moving so that he was forced to sit up away from her.  As sense came back to her she looked at him with suspicion.  “What are you doing here?”, she demanded, her voice full of the confusion she felt.  “I only just got back”, he said, his voice so sensual, still full of the desire her kiss had filled him with.  “I had hoped to meet Alexis and Daryle before they left, but...”, he left the rest unfinished, seeing how she looked up at him with such bemused eyes.  “Daryle said you wouldn’t be able to come back”, Diona said, surprise filling her voice at seeing him there.

With a small grimace he
looked back.  “The deal I’ve been working on stalled, so I had a choice - hang around there for the week or come home and relax here”, he looked softly at her, “and see you.  I thought if they had gone and you thought that I was coming back you would have jumped on the next plane out”, he said with a knowing look at her.

Diona
gasped, her wonderful eyes looking back at him as she opened her mouth to deny his claim but closed it again, realising that he was right.  She would have done exactly what he thought she would.  Even now with him being so close, on this bed of all places, she could feel how her whole body was reacting to his being there.  Lifting her chin, she glared at him to try to hide the way she was feeling.

“That should have been my choice Nikias, and why are you in my room again?  I asked you once before to knock, not just to walk in”  Nikias chuckled.  “Glad to see you’re feeling better”, he said, “And I did knock, just like I called out your name from the door, and finally called out your name from here, right before you kissed me”, he said, his eyes laughing at her.  “Oh, I see”, she muttered softly, her eyes once again filling with embarrassment.  Standing up he moved back over to the door.  “Its 6:45”, he said, “Dinner in fifteen”, and with that and a last look at her, he left the room.

Diona
threw herself back against the pillow.  “Damn, damn, damn”, she muttered, remembering how his lips felt, how his hair felt, groaning with pain at the way her whole body wanted to feel more of him, so angry at its betrayal.  She would book a flight back home tomorrow.  To stay here with Nikias for a week would be a mistake.  He would never leave her alone she knew, because she could feel the fire which burned between them, and she did not trust herself around him.

Rising
, she changed into a shirt and skirt, and brushed her hair, before pulling it into a knot on top of her head.  She needed to build some barriers against him; make him stand back from her.  The only way she knew how to do that was to be professional, to make him see that she was not interested, despite the fact that her whole body was jumping with just the thought of seeing him.

Downstairs, Nikias was waiting for her.  As she
entered, he pulled back a seat, allowing her to take in his heady musky smell, as a small shiver of pleasure passed through her body.  Forcing down the sensations, she smiled at him before helping herself to some of the delicious food on the table.  Nikias looked at her, taking in the pulled-back hair, the prim stance.  Her body language screamed ‘leave me alone’ over the table, but he was not in the mood to listen, more in tune with his own body’s messages, which throbbed for the woman sitting so still before him.

“Your brother told me about you making him a full partner”, she said to break the silence, seeing how Nikias frowned slightly.  “It seemed the right time”, he said softly. “I always wanted it to be that way, but he was never quite ready”  Diona nodded gently.  “He has changed a lot over the six months”  She added, “I didn’t even recognise him when they picked me up from the airport”  Nikias looked at her quietly for a second.  “I guess having your sister to look after was the making of him”  Diona looked back, nodding, “Yes, I suppose he is like you, having somebody to look after brings out the best in him – you had him, now he has Daryle”  Nikias smiled at the compliment.  “Nicely put”, he chuckled, as Diona frowned. “But you still think that I orchestrated the whole thing don’t you?”, she said, looking at him.  “It doesn’t matter now”, Nikias replied with a small furrow of his brow, seeing how she looked so serious.  “It matters to me”, she replied.

Nikias
looked at her for a few seconds, before a puzzled expression crossed his face.  “I had expected your sister to be a little less friendly towards me when you told her how I held you on this island”, he said gently.  Diona moved some food around her plate before sighing. “I didn’t tell her”, she finally admitted, looking up at him, “I thought Alexis had been through enough without hearing what his big brother had tried to do to the woman he loved”.  “I see”, he mused, holding her gaze.  “Thank you.  Looking back it was possibly not my best decision…although it did give me the chance to meet you”

Diona
held her breath as he looked at her with a fire in his eyes which made her whole body light up with desire, dropping her eyes to her food to hide the sudden matching fire in her own as she concentrated on her meal.

As they
finished, he offered her a drink as they moved into the living room.  Accepting the glass, she cleared her throat nervously.  “I was thinking that I would see if I could get a flight back home tomorrow”, she said, her eyes flicking to his, seeing the way he smiled knowingly.  “So, running away Diona?”, he asked gently, as she took a sip from her glass before placing it on a nearby table.  “I think it would be for the best”  “What if I disagree?”, he replied, seeing how she looked up at him.

“Please Nikias, don’t”, she pled gently, seeing how he moved closer to her, so close that he was looking down on her.  “Why are you always trying to escape from me Diona?”, he whispered sensually against her hair, feeling how she shivered slightly.  “Because you are always trying to keep me a prisoner here”, she quickly retorted making him laugh with such a masculine deep throaty sound.

As she made to move past him he
pulled her into his arms.  “We both want this”, he said softly. Putting her arms between them Diona held herself back, feeling his hardness under her fingers, resisting the urge to stroke that wonderful chest as she held firm.  “No, you know as well as I do that this would only be a short affair Nikias.  Your brother is married to my sister and we are always going to be meeting up at different events.  I don’t want us to end up hating each other, and making it uncomfortable for everybody else to be around us.  It would just be better if we could stay friends”  She looked up at him, swallowing seeing his eyes smiling down at her.

With a small laugh he
moved his head to nuzzle her neck.  “Meeting at family events like the wedding?”, he asked, his mouth against her causing her to quiver, “Because the last time we met at a family event, we didn’t even make it to your floor.  Maybe it’s something we need to get out of our systems”, he continued, his mouth moving down to kiss along her neck as she moaned gently against him.

“Stay Diona, I know you want this as much as I do.  You can pull your hair back as primly as you want, but you can’t hide your true nature, or the way we feel about each other.”  With this, his mouth kissed along her jaw before finally reaching her lips.  As he covered her mouth with his she groaned with such a want, giving up and deepening his kiss.  Her fingers moved against his chest before sliding up to hold his face, the feel of him against her destroying the last vestige of fight in her as she moved in even closer to him.  She felt his arms moving around her, pulling her hard into him, so that she could feel his arousal hard against her.  As he pulled away she stood, her eyes feeling heavy as they fluttered open slowly.  She felt him taking her hand his voice husky.   “Come to bed with me”, he said softly, as he led her by the hand up the stairs to his bedroom, Diona moving beside him, offering no resistance.

In his room he
once again took her into his arms, this time kissing her with a passion which had her head spinning as they pulled clothes off each other until they were both naked, the feel of bare skin pushing both of them further than they ever thought possible.

She
felt him nudging her gently down onto his bed as he laid over her, his mouth still kissing her. “Stay with me Diona”, he muttered so gently against her, as his mouth moved down to hungrily take in one nipple, his tongue licking her so erotically, making her arch against him as she gasped, wanting to feel him within her, her hand finding the hardness of him as he groaned against her.  She felt his hand move between her legs, his fingers entering her as she cried out with such need, her hips moving against him as he took in the other breast, his teeth driving her to the very edge of sanity.

“Please Nikias”, she moaned, her voice tremulous, as she continued to drive him wild with the actions of her hands.  “Not until you promise”, he said with more determination than he felt.  With relief he could feel her head nodding against him.  “Yes”, she muttered softly, “I’ll stay”, feeling him raise himself above her and enter her.  With such delight she felt him surge deeply inside her willing body, gasping at the feel of him as she moved with him.  As he stroked deeper and harder she felt the waves building, until with a small cry she was swamped with the sensations which seemed to wash completely over her, her head moving to the side, her body arching against him as she cried out.  Becoming rigid, the intensity saw her floating high, the feeling of being disengaged from her body filling her with such peace.

Nikias
was shocked once more at his own body’s reaction to her. She felt so right.  He could feel the way she moved below him, feeling the orgasm rising within him until he erupted, crying out with her, his breathing ragged as he held her against him, feeling how the sensations would still rip through each. Still looking down on her, Nikias kissed her soft lips feeling how she kissed him back, her hands moving down his back making him moan, feeling his body react again.

With a groan he
rolled from her, pulling her with him.  “I’m glad you’re going to stay”, he murmured softly into her hair.  Diona giggled.  “You are so manipulative”, she laughed, feeling him smile against her.  “Well I didn’t get to own an island by playing fair”, he chuckled gently, hearing her laugh back with him.

“Would it be so bad Diona?”, he asked suddenly serious as she moved to look up at him.  “I’m just not the type of girl who… You know”, she said so softly as he kissed the top of her head.  “I know that”, he answered with such sincerely, once more taking her mouth with his, before they again lost themselves in the need for each other.

As she
fell asleep, Nikias thought about her.  She was right, as much as he wanted her; he knew that she had planned to bring her sister and Alexis together.  Deep down he knew that it would eventually cost him dearly, although with a frown he knew how happy the two seemed to be together.  Perhaps things had backfired on her, and rather than looking for a quick payout from a short marriage, the two had truly fallen in love, his cutting his brother off, an unforseen result from her plan
