Kyle's Return (14 page)

“Let’s hope not. Because out of all the girls you
could’ve picked, you had to choose the one who’s best friends with
your worst enemies.”

I shrugged. “I guess I like the torture.”

“I see that.” Side-stepping me, he strolled further
into the room. “One of the other reasons why I watched you tonight
is that I might have a proposition for you. We both know your
chances of getting back into the UFC are done.”

Clenching my teeth, I closed my eyes as the thought
made my chest tighten. I knew it was a long shot but to hear it
only made it more real.

Tyler sensed my hesitation and turned around. “You do
realize that, right?”

Lowering my head, I nodded. “It’s just something I
don’t like to think about. I can’t imagine a world without
fighting.”

“I believe that’s where I can help you. Have you ever
thought about coaching, or even teaching classes to those who are
interested in MMA?”

My head snapped up, excitement threatening to bubble
over. “Why do you ask?”

“I plan on coaching a couple of young men full-time.
They’re serious about training professionally and I want to give
them that opportunity. However, there were others who are just as
passionate about fighting but I’m not sure if they have the drive
or not. I thought maybe you’d be interested in teaching them the
basics, and getting a feel for who could move on to the next
level.”

“Hell yeah,” I exclaimed.

“Good. Megan said you were going to be looking for a
job so I figured this might be a good fit. At least this way we can
make sure you stay out of trouble. I’ll get in touch with everyone
and have classes scheduled to start next week.”

I held out my hand, hoping he’d take it. “Thanks,
Rushing. It means a lot.”

Tyler looked down at my hand and shook it. “You’re
welcome. Just don’t disappoint me, or Megan.” He let my hand go and
started for the door.

Before he disappeared, I called out to him. He turned
around, lifting his brows curiously. “I just wanted to say
congratulations on the wedding this weekend. I know my sister is
happy and will be cared for.”

He nodded. “I’m lucky to have her. I’ll tell her you
said so.”

“Thanks.” I needed all the help I could get.

“WHAT ARE YOU doing over there?” It’d only been
a week, and Kyle was already on the payroll. Currently, his pen was
moving ninety miles an hour across the pad of paper in his lap. For
the past hour, that was the only sound that came from him.

Blowing out a breath, he looked over at me and
smiled. “I was working on my game plan for next week. I have a
whole schedule planned out for my first class.”

“Kyle, that’s awesome. I can’t wait to watch you in
action.”

Sliding up behind me in his chair, he wrapped his
arms around my waist. There weren’t that many people in the gym and
they couldn’t see what he was doing because the desk was in the
corner, away from everyone. Trailing his fingers to the inside of
my thigh, he slid them up under my shorts. “Don’t worry, love. Once
everyone’s gone tonight I’ll give you a special lesson.”

“Kyle, what are you doing? There are people still in
here,” I moaned under my breath.

“No one can see, baby. Your legs are under the desk.
Spread ‘em open a little bit wider.”

I did as he said and gasped when he slid a finger
inside me. His warm breath hit the back of my ear as he chuckled.
“It would appear you like this.”

Trying my best to keep my composure, I shook my head.
“Nope.”

He pulled his finger out and smacked my opening,
which made me inhale sharply. “You little brat, you know you like
this.”

I giggled. “You didn’t let me finish.” I met his lips
over my shoulder and kissed him. “I was going to say, I don’t like
it . . . I
love
it.”

“That’s more like it.” His fingers worked the inside
of me while his thumb rubbed circles across my clit. It took all I
had not to cry out; it felt so damn good. Knowing I was close, I
grabbed his hand and held it against me as I grinded on his
fingers. “I’m so close,” I whispered.

“Then let me make you come.” It was a wonder no one
could tell what we were doing, but Kyle was an expert. He worked me
faster and I came so hard I bit my lip to keep from screaming. My
chest rose up and down like I’d just run a marathon and my heart
was beating out of control. Smoothly, Kyle slid his hand from under
my shorts and adjusted his arousal, now very prominent in his
flimsy workout shorts. Sliding back, he put his notepad across his
lap. “It looks like I’ll be sitting here for a while.”

“Actually, I think you should walk to the back and
get us some bottles of water,” I teased.

He smiled slyly. “I don’t think the guys in here want
to see me pitching a tent while they’re working out. They might get
the wrong impression.”

“But it’d be funny as hell.” My phone buzzed in the
desk so I pulled it out and smiled when I saw who it was.

“I thought I was the only one who got that kind of
smile.”

I rolled my eyes and read the text. “It’s Gabby,
jackass. She and Paxton are coming into town tomorrow for the big
party. Actually, everyone will be coming in. I’m sure Ryley will be
calling next.”

“I see. So where’s the party tomorrow night? You
never told me.”

“It’s at the Labyrinth. Since Tyler used to work
there, he thought it’d be a good place to have it. He also wanted
it to be somewhere where he knew Kacey’s friends couldn’t get her
any strippers.”

He chuckled. “Smart man. I’d probably do the same
thing.”

I put my phone back in the drawer and faced him. “If
I could, you know I’d bring you. I kept waiting on Tyler to say
it’d be okay but he hasn’t yet.” Grabbing his hands, I continued,
“Don’t worry. I’m still going to help you for the wedding. I think
I might even have a plan.”

“Care to tell me,” he suggested.

“Not yet, but when the time comes you’ll know.”

“Well, whatever it is, I hope it works.”

My legs were a little shaky when I stood, but it was
probably because I just got a knee-weakening orgasm. “I’ll be right
back. I was serious about wanting some water.”

“Then let me get it.” He looked down at his waist and
my gaze followed. “I think I’m fine now.”

Snickering, I sat back down. “I see that.” The phone
rang and he waltzed away while I answered it. “Rushing’s Gym and
Fitness.”

“Bring it on? That’s all you text me back with? Girl,
what’s wrong with you? You’re supposed to tell me how much you
can’t wait to see me and blah, blah, blah.”

I snorted. “Well, if it isn’t Gabriella Reynolds soon
to be Emerson. You know I can’t wait to see you. But what I want to
know is what is it with all of you getting married in the same
year? We have Ryley and Ash, you and Pax, and now Tyler and
Kacey.”

“Don’t worry, you won’t be an old maid forever. I’m
just considering my wedding an extra Christmas present. You are
still coming to it aren’t you?”

“A week in Hawaii, how could I refuse? Of course,
I’ll be there, silly.”

“Good, but that’s not the reason I called. So listen
to this, I heard the funniest thing the other day . . .”

I stiffened, knowing very well what she was about to
say. Clutching the phone to my ear, I bit the side of my cheek as I
waited in anticipation.

“That you, my friend, are dating Kyle Andrews.” She
burst out in laughter and when I didn’t join in, she stopped
immediately. “Oh my God, you can’t be serious. Megan, what the hell
is wrong with you?”

“Who told you?”

“Paxton heard it through the grapevine. But
seriously, what are you thinking? I know the guy helped me out but
he has a past, a very bad one as a matter of fact.”

“Gabby, I know all of that. Trust me, I do. But have
you forgotten that Paxton has one too? They used to be best
friends.”

She groaned. “Yeah, but there’s a difference. Just
don’t expect me to be buddy-buddy with him.”

“I don’t think he expects that. Just at least try to
be civil with him. Remember, if it wasn’t for him, you might still
be in Rage’s clutches, or worse.”

Sighing, her voice saddened. “And I thanked him for
helping me. He had called Paxton one day and I answered the phone.
It was weird, but I do owe him my life.”

“Good, because you and Paxton are going to hang out
with us tomorrow night. I want it to be a surprise for him. It’d be
good for him to see some familiar faces, especially Paxton’s.”

“Fine. If I have to put up with him to see you, I’ll
do it.”

Kyle appeared around the corner with two water
bottles, heading straight for me. “Thanks, Gabby. I can’t wait to
see you tomorrow.”

“Diddo, my darling. See you soon.”

We hung up the phone and I opened my bottle of water
as soon as Kyle handed it to me. “Who was that?” he asked.

I took a sip of water, grinning. “Someone asking for
directions. So question, what are you doing tomorrow night?”

“Probably sitting at home, why? You’ll be at the
party.”

“I will, but I won’t be there all night. Since the
gym will be closed for the rest of the weekend, I thought we could
spend that time together. Besides, we have to coordinate Operation
Wedding Crasher.”

He chuckled. “That we do. It should be
interesting.”

I laughed, but then the phone started to ring.
Shaking my head, I answered it with a smile and my usual greeting.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t expecting the voice that replied back.

“You didn’t greet me with your name today,” he
murmured. “I was kind of hoping to hear it.”

Chills ran down my spine and I turned to Kyle. It was
the same guy from earlier in the week. Gritting my teeth, I held
the phone closer to my lips. “Look, fuckface, I don’t know who you
are, but I suggest you stop calling here.” Kyle stiffened and
stepped closer but I held up my hand.

“Now, now, there’s no need for hostility. I just
wanted to hear your voice.”

“There is something wrong when you’re a sick freak
who gets off on it. It can actually be considered harassment. But
if you feel so inclined to jack off to the sound of my voice I dare
you to try that shit here. I’d be more than happy to saw it off
with a letter opener.”

“Damn,” he chuckled. “That turns me on even
more.”

“Fuck off,” I thundered before slamming the phone
down. I turned to Kyle, my hands shaking from fury. “Oh my God,
what a fucking psycho. What am I going to do if he calls back?”

He put his hands on my face. “Calm down. If he calls
back you’re going to let me handle it. And if that cocksucker shows
up here, I’ll beat his ass.”

“Not if I do it first. The whole letter opener thing
was kind of genius if you ask me.”

He chuckled and thankfully it helped lighten the
mood. “That it was, and I never hope you come after me with
it.”

“You have nothing to worry about. I kind of like your
dick connected to your body.”

He winked. “Good, because I’m ready for this place to
close so I can put it inside yours.”
